The atmosphere was great, our server was attentive, kind, and overall excellent! Our food came out quickly, delicious and the presentation was fantastic. Great food, ambiance, and host. I came here with my family for my Birthday. The inside of the restaurant was decorative and cozy. We started off with the crab ragoon as an appetizer, it was crunchy, light, not greasy and had good flavor. Then we ordered the Seafood fried rice and hawaiian fried rice both had fresh ingredients and seasoned well. I really like this place and think it's awesome. The first time I went here I thought it was going to become my go-to place and loved the food and drink and ambience and every minute of it. Second time I sat in the back and the napkins were being folded at a back table and waitresses were hanging out there, and the food was not as good as I remembered. The food was really good, but I realized this place is more of an appetizer and drinks place which because of the name Bites is understandable. It's a cute drinks place. The price is what confused me because I paid for a full dinner out with the price but really everything does not equal up to a meal that I would spend that much for. So, in hindsight, I think I would come back if the price matched a drinks place and if the bar was bigger, but with the tables set out like a fancy meal but without the fanciness of the servers and richness of the bigger dishes, I'm left feeling a little disappointment. read more

Food: Taro fries - 3.5/5 - too crunchy, I wished they would have a soft interior like potato fries Avocado tempura - 3.5/5 - seems interesting as an idea but the taste isn't very good Soft shell crab sliders - 4/5 - tasted more bland than it should be. The fried soft shell crabs need to be better seasoned (and not rely on just the sauce). Fried chicken and pandan waffles with coconut syrup - 4/5 - the square-shaped pieces of chicken was cool but the chicken on the inside was still not fully cooked. Wow! Everything I had was so flavorful. I understand the hype around the crab rangoons. Top notch. I enjoyed the Pork Ramen as well as a couple kinds of bao buns. Tuna Tostada ($12)- Didn't realize that this was going to be raw fish...but it was pretty good! It had huge chunks of avocado in it and was a little spicy. The tostadas were large and crunchy. General's Chicken Sandwich ($12) - WOW...there were 2 giant pieces of chicken, I don't know how one person would eat all of this. Dined here early this week on a slow night for the restaurant. I did make a reservation but k also could've easily came in as a walk-in! I dined with a friend who's been here a few times and gave positive reviews about Bites. Service was fair, their was only one server so I was patient. It just seemed like it was a lot for one person to take care of the numerous tables she had. I first ordered their soft shell crabs and the I'm Passionate CBD drink. I really loved the CBD mocktail! The soft shell crab slider was new for me, I never tried a deep fried crab but it was tasty! Lastly I had their seafood fried rice (not pictured) and my guest had their ramen. We ordered delivery from here and it was probably the best sushi and ramen we've had via delivery. Everything was absolutely delicious. And the packaging was perfect. I loved the bowls the ramen came in. We ordered: - spicy crab rangoon - creamy tonkotsu ramen - lava maki - beef teriyaki burger - 5-spice duck ramen - bite me maki It wasn't cheap. In fact, we spent nearly $100 on the order, delivery, and tip. But it was darn tasty. The spicy crab rangoon didn't taste spicy at all to me. But it was a good portion and very tasty. And the dipping sauce added a nice sweetness. The creamy tonkotsu ramen was awesome. I opted for spicy, of course. And I liked that you could choose which protein you wanted, including tempura shrimp. That was a neat option I haven't really seen anywhere else. And so tasty! One of the best ramen dishes I've had. The lava maki was amazing. Jus spicy enough, not at all overwhelming. The bites were very large, but you could take multiple bites without everything spilling everywhere. And that is a darn near impossible thing to find with sushi. It was loaded with crab and quite tasty. Definitely something I would order again. George C. had the beef teriyaki burger and raves about it. Tasty and loaded with good toppings. In particular, he commented on how good the bun was. It came with fries, but they were bland and boring. The 5-spice duck ramen was different and unique. It was packed with mushrooms and had a very mushroom flavor to it, which I liked. However, the duck itself was pretty meh. Each of us took a bite to try it and then basically discarded it. Not good. The bite me maki was another just spicy enough sushi roll. Lots of flavor. Came here for date night and immediately fell in love. Everything from the interior design to the drink options and food is aesthetically pleasing. The matchalita served in a flamingo floating is a super cute touch. I'm always on the search for amazing crab rangoons and the spicy ones they serve are definitely some of the best I've ever had. The crying tiger is one of the best dishes I've ever eaten. The spicy tuna maki was actually spicy which I appreciated. The only dish I wasn't impressed with was the Mom's BBQ Pork Bao, but that's mostly due to personal taste preferences. My friend and I had mentioned trying Bites for over a year now, so we decided to stop in before going to the theater one night. We came in at 6 on a Saturday and they were not busy at all, our reservation for 2 wasn't necessary. Overall, the food was fine. Underwhelming, considering the descriptions sounding unique and fun. We didn't get either of the free appetizers from the yelp app, as they didn't appeal to us more than other items and we wanted to save room for stuff that looked better. The spicy crab rangoon has been lauded in reviews here so we tried it. I found it very generic and not spicy. Not really too different than any other crab rangoon, which isn't to say it's bad, just average tasty. The jumbo shrimp shumai was fine. A little bit of a chewy texture. The sauce with it wasn't anything special. Again, not anything different or unique from shumai anywhere else. We also tried the softshell crab sliders (not pictured). The curry aioli was overpowering- tasted good but it's all you could taste. The Lava roll was similar to other huge maki rolls you see at sushi places with lots of ingredients shoved in a roll. It was almost too big to eat in 1 bite. The Wall Street roll was our least favorite by far which was sad, as it was our first choice to order off the menu. Sushi with bacon, yup! But the bacon was... bad. Yup, bad bacon. It was overly smoky and weirdly sweet. Had it been just normal bacon, a food already packed with flavor, and not a bacon with a sticky glaze or some kind of seasoning, it probably would have been good. But the bacon totally overpowered everything. After removing the bacon piece on top, it was more palatable but we still didn't finish it. Service was fine. Food was fine. Just nothing special. With so many options in the city, we probably won't return unfortunately. Almost forgot- the bathroom was gross. It smelled totally moldy, like a wet basement. BITE ME MAKI (3.5 stars) - doused in sauce - tastes good, sushi was inoffensive - large portions 2. 5 SPICE DUCK RAMEN (2.5 stars) - duck was tasty - ramen noodles were cooked for maybe 30 seconds too long - bowl was overflowing with ingredients - broth had shallow depth of flavor - egg was hard boiled (vs soft boiled you'd usually expect) - large portion again 3. RAMA NOODLES (2 star) - large portions - enjoyed the fresh broccoli - very sweet sauce- too much sugar - noodles were cooked a tad too long for us 4. I made a reservation for my friend's birthday back in May and traffic was freaking awful so I called Bites and asked if it was okay if I arrived 15 minutes late. They put me on hold for a little over 15 minutes to ask the manager and told me that would NOT be okay. I was SO CONFUSED. I asked why it was okay for them to put me on hold for 15 m inutes but not to hold my table for 15 minutes and they said they don't know but that they just can't do that. And then they hesitated and said I could still come if we would leave within 30 minutes. Like do they only give 45 minutes per customer? WHAT??? I didn't think I'd give them another shot but then my friend wanted to try this place for his birthday so I made another reservation. This experience was much much better. The food is definitely good and I couldn't stop eating and picking at my food even after I was full. The rolls are great and HUGE. Def getting the bang for your buck. I also very much recommend the Tuna Tostada, so good! What made this experience much much better though was that during my meal my sandals broke (this isn't the good part). And I was stressing out about how to walk out and the host Julio literally overheard and fixed my sandals. I kid you not. He grabbed paper clips and makeshifted a way to fix it. It was not easy either. I was so grateful. Honestly my friend and I thought he was a manager they way he was so good at taking care of all the guests. This place is good but not something that cannot be found elsewhere, but still come to this place only to support Julio. He is AMAZING. I vote he gets a raise. I was disappointed....half price Ramen on Tuesdays isn't bad either I ordered the duck ramen- as you can see from the pic- it comes fully loaded. Many ramen place give you a ton of noodles with only a small amount is veggies and meat but not at BITES! You get a whole duck wing, an entire bok choy, mushrooms, whole egg and more! So tasty, especially when you have a cold. I told my wonderful waitress May that they I had a cold and asked what she suggested for teas. Too my surprise she made me a off menu special tea....real ginger tea - in the pic you can see the fresh ginger in my hot with whole spices, lemon and a shot of honey. Such fun cocktails (the Wake Me Up Before You Go Go was amazing) and really delicious food. Happy hour is a great deal! We had the gyoza and the chicken wings. Would have been five stars but a server told us we had to leave our table 15 minutes before our time at the table was up (she told us at the beginning we'd need to give up our table at 7:15 and she made us leave at 7) while we were still finishing drinks.
