Chicken tacos
Darren O.

So a few things to say here. Got here around 12:30 on a Thursday, expected them to be at least slightly busy. No one inside at all except two older ladies who had just arrived. There was one worker there seating them and us. It seemed like there was another person there who disappeared almost immediately. The person working told us he was actually a cook, who had been left there by himself- and he wasn't sure about waiting on tables, but would his best. We ordered quickly, and he went back and started cooking. We had the Korean boneless chicken wings, chicken tacos, and my wife had a burger. The wings were fantastic. Literally perfect. I could eat a couple of orders. Perfect balance of heat and sweet. My chicken tacos were also perfect. Loved them. The Chipotle sauce was a great complement to them. The kimchi fries stole the show. I'd go back just to get then and the wings. My wife liked her burger too. I didn't try it, although it looked good. So- the weird thing is nobody else was working. 3 or 4 more tables arrived as we were finishing, same guy doing everything. Props to him for being a hard worker and a great cook. Management obviously needs some help.

Tots that they melted cheese over for no reason

DISCLAIMER: LOCAL FOOD EXPERT In the perfect spot in downtown Forest Grove, perfect distance from everything and really great atmosphere. Wow. I was impressed with the outside and inside in it's appearance. Looking at the menu, I noticed the steep prices. 15+ for average burgers. Oh, and it doesn't come with a side. The side is 4 extra dollars. "Ok," I'm thinking.... "the food must be great then, very gourmet," was I wrong.... I decided on the chicken sandwich for 12 dollars and decided to add the tots for an extra 4 dollars. I told the waiter to add cheese, an extra 75 cents. My food came and they put the cheese on my tots instead of my sandwich. A slice of cheddar melted over the top of the tots. I tried my cheese-less sandwich and it was indistinguishable from a Mcchicken. A good fried chicken sandwich is crispy. This was soft. and soggy. If you look at the picture, you can see the patty and you can probably recognize it as a pre-made frozen chicken patty. I will give them some credit as they didn't charge me for the sandwich, though being retroactive in service in not sustainable. Baffles me how the place was busy.

The food was creative and original. The service was high quality and the music was fun and engaging. Highly recommend trying this restaurant!!! I will drive across town again to eat at this restaurant.

All American Burger

Best burger I've ever had in my life! It was the only time I've actually eaten the pickles in a burger!

Sous-vide pork huh?

What happened? Ordered delivery through Uber, used to get the ramen all the time during previous ownership. Today, it came with bland broth and cold, Chinese BBQ pork instead of the braised chasiu described on the menu. Don't support restaurants that blatantly misrepresent their food.

Delicious food. Highly recommend bites Resturant if you are in the area! We loved the Parmesan tots! Super delicious. Boyfriend got the jalapeño burger which he loved along with the Parmesan tots. I got myself the sweet potato fries, side salad and the boneless Korean wings. Super satisfied. Did not know what to order but everything we ordered was amazing and delicious. Stop by if you're ever in the forest grove area! Great place to stop by after fishing at Hagg lake!

Parmesan green beans

Cute place. Food was great. We had the tempura green beans with Parmesan cheese, udon soup, and southwestern salad, enjoyed it all. Service was lovely.

This is their udon lol. Just generic udon noodles, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts and stock udon broth. Look how sad it looks

Their menu is more interesting than the actual food when it arrives. Everything I've tried from here has been disappointing-either too greasy/oily, really bland and underwhelming, or overcooked. Their little appetizers are probably the most decent. You can just tell from the poor presentation of the food that the cook just doesn't care. You can tell by the photos I uploaded. Look how sad their presentation looks. Don't even waste money on any of their soups, pasta or salad. Good concept, Poor execution.

Vegetarian dumplings

This is a great Asian fusion restaurant. There are a lot of dishes with kimchi on the side, there seems to be a heavy Korean influence on the menu. We were seated as soon as we came in, and the drinks came out fast. The food seemed to take a while, but we were there at prime dinner time. A note about the kimchi, it was spicy but it also had a really food flavor to it which some kimchi lacks. We ordered the dumplings as an appetizer and they were gone within minutes, they're so good. I ordered the Kai Dow with chicken. The chicken tasted like it had been marinated for a while, and it was really tasty. My husband had a dish with kimchi and noodles. He can't remember the name and it's not on the menu online- maybe it's something new? Anyway, this is a great spot for some awesome Asian inspired food. Definitely worth checking it out. I think a group could come in and order a bunch of appetizers and eat a great dinner that way.

Bites

I came looking for Burgers & Buns, which apparently has been replaced by Bites. The kimchi burger was excellent, as were the pork gyoza marinara. They have a decent beer selection. The space is open and well-lit and clean. Service was swift. I would come here again.

We first tried to drop by on Day 1, but the place was so crowded that we couldn't get a table. We made sure to book a reservation and returned for lunch the next day. The ambience here is amazing, and the service was top-notch. Our server was great and took the time to explain the menu details to us. We ordered a bunch of different items, and everything tasted pretty good. The paella was definitely the absolute highlight of the meal! While I wish the vegetables had been roasted just a bit more, the rice itself was extremely flavorful. The sautéed mushrooms and Brussels sprouts were another massive highlight--they are an absolute must-try from the menu. We loved them so much that we actually placed a repeat order for them during our meal! Overall, we had a fantastic time here. Definitely visit this spot when you are in the city!

There's plenty of tables and a long bar with ample seats. The service has been mostly good. The wine list is ample and the cocktail selection is massive. I haven't had a bad drink here. This most recent time, I ordered the 45 minute paella. I don't mind waiting with a glass of wine or cocktail for something that's a treat like paella. Sadly, when it came out it was disappointing. The seafood was cooked well but a little underseasoned. The rice was very bland. I'd chalk it up to someone having a bad night, but this is the second time I ordered the paella and was disappointed. Sad to say, there are enough better restaurants in Mac that I don't think I'll rush back here on my next trip to the area.

Yesterday took us to McMinnville for the Wonderland Brew Fest... after the festival, we decided to do a progressive dinner. Stop at every interesting restaurant on / near 3rd Street and eat until we were satisfied... Thistle threw a big ole wrench in our plans, and we are DELIHTED they did! After a not so great first restaurant experience, we happened upon Thistle at the recommendation of a friend. We decided to stop in for an appetizer and a drink. We were immediately greeted by a lovely man named Patrick who was so friendly and accommodated us at a lovely table in the center dining room. Round #1 of drinks was ordered with the Gnocchi and Duck Liver Mousse. Good. LORDT. We were smitten at sip and bite #1. After the first round, we settled into having a second round before heading out... next thing you know, a Pork Confit hit our table. OUT OF THIS WORLD. The talent of this chef is beyond words. Our planned 45 minute stop turned into a whole evening. The drinks were absolutely out of this world. The food was ridiculously good. Truly, the absolute best restaurant in all of McMinnville. To the chef, John Thomas IV and the owner, Patrick, THANK YOU! You truly too an average Saturday evening into one of our favorite trips to McMinnville of all times. We raved and sang the praises of our experience to all our friends this morning at brunch. Our one evening alone will guarantee our return many many times in the future. If you're from McMinnville and haven't tried Thistle yet, do it! If you're visiting, stop searching for your dinner destination and call for your reservation now. Absolutely our best McMinnville dinner, ever!

The menu, on the chalkboard, is not very big but our party tried almost everything. The consensus was that everything was very well prepared and very interesting (not in a weird way!). Excellent wine and cocktail list. The owner is very hands on and friendly, and the chef also came to our table. I wish that there were more places like this in the States, somewhat on the French bistro model--limited menu, fresh local ingredients, focus on preparing really good food. Anyone in the area should definitlely give Thistle a spin. It is just off McMinnViil'e charming 3rd Street.
