Tots that they melted cheese over for no reason
    Bradley M.

DISCLAIMER: LOCAL FOOD EXPERT In the perfect spot in downtown Forest Grove, perfect distance from everything and really great atmosphere. Wow. I was impressed with the outside and inside in it's appearance. Looking at the menu, I noticed the steep prices. 15+ for average burgers. Oh, and it doesn't come with a side. The side is 4 extra dollars. "Ok," I'm thinking.... "the food must be great then, very gourmet," was I wrong.... I decided on the chicken sandwich for 12 dollars and decided to add the tots for an extra 4 dollars. I told the waiter to add cheese, an extra 75 cents. My food came and they put the cheese on my tots instead of my sandwich. A slice of cheddar melted over the top of the tots. I tried my cheese-less sandwich and it was indistinguishable from a Mcchicken. A good fried chicken sandwich is crispy. This was soft. and soggy. If you look at the picture, you can see the patty and you can probably recognize it as a pre-made frozen chicken patty. I will give them some credit as they didn't charge me for the sandwich, though being retroactive in service in not sustainable. Baffles me how the place was busy.

Best burger I've ever had in my life! It was the only time I've actually eaten the pickles in a burger!

Delicious food. Highly recommend bites Resturant if you are in the area! We loved the Parmesan tots! Super delicious. Boyfriend got the jalapeño burger which he loved along with the Parmesan tots. I got myself the sweet potato fries, side salad and the boneless Korean wings. Super satisfied. Did not know what to order but everything we ordered was amazing and delicious. Stop by if you're ever in the forest grove area! Great place to stop by after fishing at Hagg lake!

The food was creative and original. The service was high quality and the music was fun and engaging. Highly recommend trying this restaurant!!! I will drive across town again to eat at this restaurant.

    Sous-vide pork huh?

What happened? Ordered delivery through Uber, used to get the ramen all the time during previous ownership. Today, it came with bland broth and cold, Chinese BBQ pork instead of the braised chasiu described on the menu. Don't support restaurants that blatantly misrepresent their food.

This is their udon lol. Just generic udon noodles, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts and stock udon broth. Look how sad it looks

Their menu is more interesting than the actual food when it arrives. Everything I've tried from here has been disappointing-either too greasy/oily, really bland and underwhelming, or overcooked. Their little appetizers are probably the most decent. You can just tell from the poor presentation of the food that the cook just doesn't care. You can tell by the photos I uploaded. Look how sad their presentation looks. Don't even waste money on any of their soups, pasta or salad. Good concept, Poor execution.

Cute place. Food was great. We had the tempura green beans with Parmesan cheese, udon soup, and southwestern salad, enjoyed it all. Service was lovely.

This is a great Asian fusion restaurant. There are a lot of dishes with kimchi on the side, there seems to be a heavy Korean influence on the menu. We were seated as soon as we came in, and the drinks came out fast. The food seemed to take a while, but we were there at prime dinner time. A note about the kimchi, it was spicy but it also had a really food flavor to it which some kimchi lacks. We ordered the dumplings as an appetizer and they were gone within minutes, they're so good. I ordered the Kai Dow with chicken. The chicken tasted like it had been marinated for a while, and it was really tasty. My husband had a dish with kimchi and noodles. He can't remember the name and it's not on the menu online- maybe it's something new? Anyway, this is a great spot for some awesome Asian inspired food. Definitely worth checking it out. I think a group could come in and order a bunch of appetizers and eat a great dinner that way.

    Bites

I came looking for Burgers & Buns, which apparently has been replaced by Bites. The kimchi burger was excellent, as were the pork gyoza marinara. They have a decent beer selection. The space is open and well-lit and clean. Service was swift. I would come here again.

In summar: YES! As…read moresomeone who frequents plain chain restaurants and has admittedly eaten more frozen taquitos than I care to admit, coming to Canard for. Absolutely lunch was a wonderful change of culinary pace that I am excited to try again soon. This restaurant was recommended to me by some friends I hold as having excellent taste. All they mentioned was French inspired or French fusion, and knowing I haven't been to many of those my wife and I went here without looking at the menu. Looking at the menu, I'll tell you that it was not what I expected so much so that I forgot to take pictures of it because I spent all my time trying to decide what I wanted. I think not looking anything up was probably the best decision I could've made because that led to us choosing some dishes that I think we normally wouldn't have ordered. We tried to steam cheeseburgers, the steak, tartar, garlic, fries, foie gras dumplings, and gnocchi. Also got some specialty drinks. Service was amazing, if I was really nice, did not take too much time at all to get food, and the food itself was special. (Specials is the best word I can use to describe discovering new flavors, my age ) Two thumbs up, will be coming back again, and excited to try everything on the menu! Also, note that they do have some parking in the front of the building so if you're going for lunch, try there first instead of worrying about parking blocks away.

Not all of them serve lunch, but this one does, and it was on our way out of Portland to Willamette. There's street parking, but they also have some reserved parking spots in a small lot. As they're called Canard, there are multiple duck related options on the menu. - Steak tartare: with fried crisps and an interesting bone mayo in the center. It comes with pho accompaniments like lime, spouts, mint, cilantro - Market green salad: with fried quinoa, a pretty big portion - Garlic fries - Steam burgers: 6 for $30: like White Castle meets a McDonald's cheeseburger - Mac n cheese: we got the kids' version, which doesn't have fried onions - Steamed broccoli: the cleanest thing our kids have eaten all week Service was friendly, and food came out pretty quickly. It was a solid lunch and a good excuse to see Beaverton.

[Format & Space] Seat yourself*, review the menus at the table, order at the bar, they bring your food and drinks to your table. *Plenty of tables, some with long benches, others with chairs on the inside. There's also a large patio. This is a welcome and safe space. [Drinks] Right up front, I'm going to tell you I'm a lightweight. I'm allergic to alcohol, so I don't drink often. Here's one of the things I love about The 649. They have a fantastic selection of mocktails that are created with the same creativity, flair, and intention as a "leaded" cocktail. I appreciate that I get to participate and not be stuck with a lemonade, zero alcohol beer, or wine. So, HUZZAH for creating an inviting space for a non-drinker! There *are* times when I'm willing to risk the lobster-bod, itchiness, and stuffy nose and there are plenty of cocktails from which to choose! [Food] There's a nice selection of sharable plates and mains. I've personally tried the flatbread pizza, Bavarian pretzel, Cubano, and Brisket Press, all of which were delish. [Service] The service has always been fabulous. The staff are welcoming, friendly, and helpful. [Activities] There are a few TVs around the bar with sports. It was a great place to catch some of the World Cup games. Additionally, there are several games that you can borrow and play, which is a lot of fun. [Location] Tucked in a busy shopping center with Safeway as an anchor. Parking hasn't been super problematic yet, but based on one of the other reviewers (Ron R - loved your formatting too, so I borrowed it until we get rich text formatting or emojis!) I can see where it could be a challenge.

Because it's somewhat hidden in the corner of a Safeway shopping plaza. Look for the Baskin Robbins or Wells Fargo ATM and your find it. Like other reviews, when busy, parking can be a bit horrendous. But in hindsight, I'm not gonna reduce a star just because of location. * Bar Food Menu & Dining * Their menu starts with shareable bites, like a pretzel, tacos, quesadilla, loaded nachos, and even a charcuterie plate. Slightly larger dishes would be their Cubano and Brisket Press sandwiches. They even have a few choices for soup and salads, and a couple of dessert items listed. Don't forget to check the chalkboard next to the bar for specialty dishes and drinks. As for dining-in, they've got sturdy wooden tables that can accommodate 4-8 people. Bar stools by the windows, and a fairly large outside patio area. And with the times I've been here, I've never seen a dirty table. Very well maintained (two thumbs up). A few TV monitors showing the game, but its not like a noisy sportsbar. * Drinks & Services* You've got your choice of craft beers that rotate like a standard tap room. They also have tasty seasonal cocktails, but their normal everyday cocktails are just as good. And if you're gonna have a charcuterie board, then you've got to offer a wine list option right? Well they got that too! One last thing to mention, they've got some top-shelf bourbon and whiskey. The 649 is a bar that offers it all! Service has also been welcoming and top-notch. I recall only been served by Rich, Steven, and Crystal, but they always seem to craft up some lovely cocktails. Or deliver some clean tasting everyday type of bar food as well. * Last Call * Normally in my reviews, I'd list every item that I've tried, with price included. But The 649 is such a unique type of bar experience that I feel you should try for yourself; To me, their offerings are reasonably priced. Dining in is nothing fancy, but service is excellent. It's a great hangout for a business date, of even after a first date. I've got nothing but love for local support!
