So it was our 15th anniversary and we decided to try out the nicest restaurant that we could find. It did not disappoint. The atmosphere inside, the decor plus the view was spectacular. We were seated at a window table, which was great. We ordered a couple drinks and a couple appetizers. The crab dip and calamari were amazing. Probably the best crab dip I've ever had. For main courses, I ordered the seared scallops and added prawns to the dish as well as a side of their chowder. So good. Melt in your mouth scallops. The chowder was some of the best I've had. My wife ordered pasta Alfredo with shrimp. She said it was amazing as well. And my daughter ordered the Boullabaisse. I've never heard of it but it's a seafood bowl that is delicious and has many seafoods inside.. almost like a soup. She loved it. Dessert was a chocolate torte and a cheesecake slice. Again, amazing. This is a must go to restaurant if you want upscale in Astoria, Oregon. It is well worth the price. And you cannot beat the atmosphere and service. It is exceptional. read more

This is an another great place by the sea. I really dig the vibes here. Nice and open with high ceilings. I had the clams and mussels chowder and halibut cakes that weren't bad but the highlights were the crab dip with the French / Sourdough bread and the Huckleberry Lemonade . My wife had a ribeye that she said was decent. Our server was excellent. She made sure our meal met our expectations and kept checking in on us. The food and cocktails are absolutely delicious!! All the food was incredible. Great spot for sunset and loved that they had a piano player. Only giving 4 starts instead of 5 because they really seemed to struggle with service, they ran out of menus and it took about 30 min before anyone came to our table and our server didn't come back to the table much so did not have time or chance to order a second drink. I was recently in Astoria for the Great Columbia Crossing, and we had a group dinner here. Unfortunately, I only got one picture. To start with, the place is open and airy with a great view of the Columbia River. There was live music, and you could still hold a conversation. It managed to be elegant and casual at the same time, with attentive service. The beer and wine list is extensive, with a number of local options. I had a good Pinot Noir and a nice IPA. Among the appetizers we ordered were crispy Thai Brussels sprouts, calamari, Willapa Bay oysters and Dungeness crab cocktail. All were excellent. I also loved the lobster broth boulliabaisse with local crab, shrimp, clams and black cod. To die for! Some of my fellow diners enjoyed king salmon and ribeye steak (personally, I don't understand not eating seafood at the coast, but to each their own...). read more

Very disappointed with this meal after we had an excellent meal several weeks ago. 5* ATMOSPHERE 3* SERVICE 2* FOOD Kim, was an alright server, most of the issues were with the meal. We started with a Beet Salad and Bread Basket. Salad was okay bread was better. My husband liked his black bean burger. I had Clam Pasta, didn't like it at all!!!! Clams had sand in them, absolutely no taste/flavor in the sauce, no bacon and needed salt/pepper, it was so bland and only lukewarm. The fettuccine noodles were VERY UNDER COOKED. The cobbler was warm and perfect! Outside seating was wonderful, lots of ships going by. Not sure we will return after spending $100 for lunch. read more

I do not usually write a review, but this place was so bad that I felt it was my duty to warn you. It took us 25 minutes before our server approached our table. She was very nice but lost. We ordered the oysters on the half shell which came out above room temperature and were dangerous. We sent them back. They removed them from our bill. When I asked to speak with the manager he could care less about the safety of serving room temperature oysters. Oysters must be served chilled on ice or cooked. Disgusting. I ordered the fish and chips. It had been sitting under the heat lamp so long that the coleslaw was hot and the Tatar sauce was crusted on top. The fish and fries were soggy. We left. Paid for our drinks only. So bad. read more

I only gave one star because negative stars are not allowed. We were served warm oysters (room temperature)on the half shell. When we notified the manager he just shrugged and said "you won't get sick." Oysters must be kept between 32 and 38° at all times. Or cooked above 145°. Yuk! read more

Very disappointing meal at this restaurant had an amazing cocktail and wonderful basket of bread. The very pricey ribeye steak was covered in chimichurri and barbecue sauce. The plate was swimming with olive oil. The potatoes were decent. The squash was squishy, and the additional jumbo prawns were not so jumbo and extremely salty was very very disappointed for a $52 meal that I was not able to eat did tell the server who was absolutely amazing and she offered to comp the meal, but that is not the point. She was a very excellent server and it had nothing to do with the poor experience that I had this evening. read more

For the price point, there were a lot of missteps. I understand tourist area restaurants don't always deliver, perhaps because they don't have the benefit of living and dying from repeat locals. But OMG just no. They're not even trying to determine if their food and service is acceptable Missteps included: #1) Two different menus were given, one outdated with a special I wanted. Totally forgivable though #2) potatoes in bouillabaisse were so undercooked they were inedible. They made up most of the dish too. On the plus side, the broth and fish were well prepared. See photo #3) onions in the Hungarian mushroom soup were large, crunchy and near raw. #4) a main ingredient in my special salad was completely missing and it was impossible to find my wait person. Thankfully a bus person assisted, went to a manager, then the busser brought the ingredient to the table. #5) very poor timing of dishes brought to the table. Since there were few people dining I find this perplexing #6) we were never ONCE asked how things were, surprising especially since a manager knew of at least one misstep. Hmmmm. Upscale looking with a beautiful view. Piano is playing so it gives a nice feel to it. Service to be seated, took a while. But I chalked it up to it being empty. ( 5 parties here including mine) Finally sat, took forever to order drinks. Drinks came... late. (A coffee and a blueberry soda type drink) My drink had a terrible crack in it. Would have loved to exchange it, but shocker.. servers were amiss. Finally ordered food. Ordered clams to start that came dirty. More sand than necessary ( some is a given but see photos). Served asked how it was and I let her know and she smiled and walked off. So that was interesting. Waited 30 minutes for food. 30.. For a sandwich. I thought about just asking for a check and leaving it was taking so long. Food came, it sucked. Probably could have had a 3 year old make this better. Tonight we dined at a most excellent restaurant. The Bridgewater Bistro in Astoria is one of the best restaurants we have ever eaten in . No exaggeration. I thoroughly enjoyed the Bouillabaisse and it was definitely the best I've ever eaten . In case you don't know, it's a fish stew from Marseille France. Absolutely loaded with every kind of seafood you can think of and the flavor was exceptional . My wife enjoyed the pasta Alfredo with house smoked salmon and it was delicious to the last bite . Then we topped it off with the Bosque cheesecake which had caramel and espresso sauce. Our waitress was Carrie . A very exceptional and professional waitress indeed . I wanted to start this review by saying what was good about our experience but I couldn't think of anything. We ordered at least 6 different dishes and none of them were good. My kids were starving and after taking a single bite did not want to eat anything. The food came out barely warm and the kids food came out last. The adults sat and stared at our plates of food as it continued to get cold while we waited for the kids food to come out. We ended up needing to order an additional bread basket at the end of the meal just so the kids would have some food in them. What a wonderful evening! The venue was exceptional! The view, the atmosphere, and our waitress was super nice and attentive. I was listening to the music in the back ground thinking this sounds so awesome, it sounded live! It was live!! There was a trio playing wonderful music and the ambiance was truely perfect! The bouillabaisse was delightful! I mean I sopped up the soup with my bread and ate almost every drop! The seafood inside was an ample proportion, of crab, fish, and jumbo shrimp! My wife had a burger but it was no ordinary burger. Two patties, cooked to perfection (for her that's well done) and had a jelly spread that was a tasty treat! Fries cooked to just the right crispness. She had a yummy lemon drop drink, some additional bread that was fantastic too!! (Took it home!!) I usually just eat and scarf down food because I'm filling my belly but this was a truly delightful meal and I had a smile on my face nearly the entire time I was there. Great ambiance! Amazing views over the river and of the bridge. Restaurant was slightly chilly on a rainy day. However the food was piping hot and delicious! I had the halibut cakes and a bowl of Hungarian mushroom soup. Both were divine and the soup was the perfect pick me up!!! This is our go to restaurant when we are in Astoria. We stay at the Riverwalk Inn and this is just a short walk from the Inn. The ambience is lovely, the people are nice and friendly, the food is terrific. This way, we don't need to deal with parking in downtown Astoria. We ate her two nights in a row. The first night, we had a delicious Caesar , fish and chips and the halibut special. The fish and chips are made with halibut and are nice though my husband prefers cod. The halibut special was excellent with a lot of flavors. I hadn't tried before. The second night we got the cranberry salad, pork chops and the chef special scallops. These were really delicious meals. The chef likes to serve the meals on purées. We enjoyed all of them! Both of our servers, Nicole and Teresa were nice and seasoned professionals! read more

Hands down one of the best eating experiences I've had from start to finish in a very long time! Terra, our amazing server, and the Bridgewater Bistro team made my 50th birthday dinner experience a truly memorable experience and I am so thankful to them all, they didn't know until I was leaving so no special treatment :). Terra welcomed both me and my husband with kindness and provided us with impeccable service. Couldn't have been more pleased, thank you! True props to the chef and crew!!! From start to finish (appetizer-entry-desert) had so much flavor that each and every bite was an explosion of perfectly seasoned and melded flavors. We had the crab cheese dip, house bread and prosciutto wrapped asparagus for our appetizers, my husband had the Ribeye steak and I had the King Salmon. His large steak was cooked to perfection and the flavors involved in the King Salmon concoction left my tastebuds in awe - seriously BRAVO! With no room left in our bellies we of course ordered the strawberry-rhubarb cobbler and pear margarita sorbet. Both were absolutely to die for. With 24 years of military service, much of it abroad, I've had my fair share of both and I'd put both of these at the very top. I'm a foodie and love the joys food can bring to so many regardless of background or origins. We don't normally eat somewhere twice when visiting a town but Bridgewater Bistro was a definite exception to that rule! We went on a self appointed chowder walk through town and a couple recommended the bistro for their gluten free menu so off we went. I've never had gluten free fish and chips at a restaurant so had no idea what to expect but let me tell you, absolute perfection! So much perfection we went back the next night for more and if we were in town any longer, we would have went back again! The first night since we'd already had several cups of chowder on our walk, we skipped the soup. Boy did we regret that decision after having the Hungarian Mushroom soup our second night, it was rich and decadent with an earthiness that we couldn't get enough of! The gluten free calamari was super tender and perfect with garlic aioli which we had to request. The pork chop was cooked a perfect medium and the mustard sauce was amazing! Service both evenings was top notch, genuine and attentive. The restaurant is warm and cozy while being modern and updated with gorgeous views of the Columbian river. This is on the bay so we could see some ships going by. There is lots of glass. The room is very high which should help with noise. Our service was very good and we really enjoyed Brandon, the manager. The food is good and I want to give special mention to the Hungarian mushroom soup. Prices are rather high. The restaurant is lovely, bright and airy, right on the river. We were seated promptly for dinner and service was attentive. We enjoyed the piano music. although being seated near the piano, it was difficult to hold a conversation, plus the player had a repertoire of five tunes, so it became a tiny bit monotonous. The food was mostly well-prepared. The two of us shared the halibut cakes starter, but barely had time to savor them before our main courses appeared on our small two-top table. My scallops in rose harissa sauce were tender, but the broccoli side was tough and chewy. My husband's steak was medium, versus the medium rare he requested. The kitchen might want to consider timing the dishes so that 10 minutes are allowed between courses. After all, you didn't go to all that effort to prepare something delectable only to have your customer not have time to enjoy it. read more

Came here for a late lunch on a weekend, they were pretty busy but there was a single table that was free for us. I got the mushroom soup and the Reuben and both were pretty good. I got the salmon sandwich that was super solid with a great aioli sauce on it. I also got that with a cranberry salad which was also spectacular. Service was also great. Our server did forget one of our drinks, but felt bad and did take a few bucks off in addition to taking it off our bill she felt so bad. Other than that, I would say the view out the window could be significantly improved if they removed the empty dining shells out on the dock, does kind of ruin the view of the water. I will also say I don't really love the "Shanghai-ed" skeleton by the fire place. I get that "Shanghai-ed" is a term referring to being kidnapped, and I'm pretty sure coastal Oregon don't really care about being particularly PC, but that's just in extremely poor taste and made me feel uncomfortable as a person of Asian descent eating there. I don't mind the skeleton, but you could have easily achieved the same level of humor by just saying the skeleton was kidnapped in Astoria. read more

Went here for Thanksgiving dinner. Thanksgiving Day Menu for 2025 online said Beaujolais Nouveau wine was $30/bottle. When we arrived at the restaurant, it's now $40/bottle. The "Turkey Plate" said "roasted organic turkey breast and confit leg." There was no dark leg meat. When the waitress served she said "we are out of stuffing." What? It's Thanksgiving at 5:00p and they've already run out of stuffing? The potatoes were runny served with lukewarm gravy. Worst Thanksgiving dinner I've ever had. read more

I had the mussel and clam chowder which was very good, it came out steaming hot and was creamy and flavorful. I also had the wild salmon B.L.T which was very tasty! The salmon was not dry, the bacon was smoky and yummy, and the garlic aioli with the lettuce was delicious! The fries were good, nothing too crazy but still good. Service: Our waiter was nice, but was not super attentive. Sometimes my water was empty and it took around 5-10 minutes for a refill, and we were ready to order but didn't see our waiter. Ambience: The view was really beautiful over the bay! It was a very nice and spacious inside and the lighting was great! Overall: Yummy for our second to last meal here in Portland!
