I used to go there just to order a hot fudge sundae - the ice cream didn't matter much, I just wanted the hot fudge sauce. Sure BJs has good ice cream, but so do lots of other premium ice cream shops. BJs, if you want to differentiate yourself from other ice cream shops, bring back your original hot fudge sauce. Great little ice cream shop that has a ton of fun flavors and the usual to choose from. There is also a large wall of salt water taffy, a fridge with sodas, another freezer with brownies and ice cream sandwiches. The kid's scoops were generous and the single scoop huge! Great prices for the amount of ice cream received. There isn't seating but I was told the picnic tables by the brewery next store was a shared place. Parking is not the easiest right by the store but there is a larger parking lot by the beach with free parking and a short walk to their shop. read more

Best ice cream I've had so far on this vacation. Ordered the salted caramel on a waffle cone. The icee cream was sweet and creamy with the just the right punch of salt I want in salted caramel. Just one scoop is all you need, really, because they are very generous. I've been to Newport many times and this is the first time I have been to the Nye Beach area on NW Coast St. It's really quaint in this area of Newport. There's lots of shops and cafe's but less touristy. If your looking for a something sweet, stop by BJs! You won't regret it. read more

I was very disappointed in the shop's total disregard for social distancing. They require masks, but there were no limits on the number of people in the shop or markers for where to stand. It would take minimal extra effort for them to place a few tape marks on the floor to indicate spacing. I don't really know which was more delicious but the Oregon Trail was one of the most unique ice creams I've ever eaten and also one of the tastiest. It wasn't too sweet... And it even satisfy my chocolate craving! They have a wicked amount of different saltwater Taffy's that you can buy and are apparently known for that. The ice cream is decent but the customer service is lacking. I went there with a group of friends because we heard their milkshakes are awesome. Arrived a little after 8pm, but the workers refused to make milkshakes because they didn't want to wash the tins again. If you're open until 9pm, you should serve your whole menu if it's available. Not wanting to do dishes seems a bit lazy to me. And the smug attitude that accompanied it wasn't helpful either. If you don't like your job, just work somewhere else...everyone is hiring. There wasn't anything incredible about it and it wasn't like they have flavors that are really out there. Price wasn't so bad for a tourist spot but the waffle cone was definitely stale and disgusting. There's no sign with flavors on it, so you have to look through the windows to see what they have. They also don't give samples! Maybe if I could have sampled, I would have known how much this ice cream sucked before I spent $8.50 on an ice cream cone! I really wanted strawberry ice cream. There was a sign that said, "We have vanilla, strawberry and chocolate ice cream," but they did not! The server broke my ice cream cone because the ice cream was too hard and instead of giving me a new cone, he turned my cone over in a cup... dumb and not appreciated. My Mom's name was Betty Jean, so of course I had to try this Ice Cream shop. I saw on the menu board they had "Licorice Ice Cream" and I almost fell over. I Love Licorice Ice Cream and it's very difficult to find in most Ice Cream Shops. However, it was white L.I.C. and sadly did not have the same "punch" as Black Licorice I.C. But that's o.k., the young man who was helping us let us try a lot of other yummy choices and I ended up with a Carmel I.C. which for sure, did not disappoint.
