We used BJ's to cater our family gathering at the recommendation of a friend who has used them often. They were wonderful. Every single food item was DELICIOUS: fried and roasted chicken; garlic mashed spuds and gravy; potato salad; green beans; beef ribs; mac and cheese; corn muffins; peach cobbler; chocolate cake. Delivery was on time and the food was hot. Reasonable price and pleasant service. Did I mention that the food was AMAZING?!! Highly recommended.

Ordered door dash and was brought burnt rancid fish. The fish was so rancid the smell of it made my entire family gag. We also ordered chicken that was COVERED in cumin spice. Who covers chicken in cumin?? The cooks are obviously on drugs and do not care about the quality or safety of the food.

This the second time I at BJ market it is not the same everytime. The bbq is very tasty. The food is good. Glad they survived the pandemic.

BJ's Market 1737 E 95th St, Chicago, IL 60617 I ordered a ¼ White Chicken, with 2 sides. First of all, I've ordered a ¼ White several times, from various places and this is waaaaay below the amount for a ¼ White. Google a picture of a ¼ White Roasted Chicken compared to my photo, you'll see what I mean. Also, it looks like someone tore pieces off of a Rotisserie Chicken and placed it in a to go container. Also, look at the color of the Chicken, to me it looks very Gray, and the skin was not crispy at ALL! VERY rubbery GROSS! The collard greens were VERY under seasoned, & the sweet potatoes were CLEARLY out of a can. They FORCE you to buy waaay more sides than what you need or want. Which is CRAZY considering that the size and the Quality of the main entree is NOT properly COOKED & INSANELY SMALL!!! You NEED to do better. If the cooks in your restaurant have Never cooked professionally before, then you need to hire people who have.

Food was delicious, hot and reasonable. I used them for Xmas dinner, also. We had more than enough for four people.

Service was very slow, but the place was busy so we understood. Kitchen was extremely slow. Again we understood. Our food was very good. After watching desserts pass by our table all night we flagged down our waiter to order. We were told that we'd have to leave without dessert or coffee because our 90 minutes was almost up. We told him that most of that 90 minutes was spent waiting to order and waiting for our food. He spoke to his manager who confirmed that we'd have to leave. Terrible business model. With so many restaurant choices in Chicago, we won't be returning.

We arrived 20 minutes before our scheduled reservation, but we were seated within five minutes of arriving. The server, David, greeted us promptly when we were seated. He mentioned that if you're ordering appetizers, they should be ordered with the main meal. While we looked over the menu, water was offered. I ordered Blackened Catfish over brown rice and carrots. The catfish was tender and perfectly seasoned. My brother had grilled flounder with creamed corn. Like the catfish, the trout was tender and well-seasoned. The corn had a slight sweetness. Roger had Short ribs and mashed potatoes. The ribs were tender and did not need any sauce because they were seasoned well. We also ordered a side dish of Macaroni and Cheese. It was delicious! A mixture of Gouda cheese and other cheeses. Very creamy! The top layer cheese was baked perfectly! If you know, you know, it's all about the top layer of cheese The APPETIZERS: The Gumbo was spicy but delicious! You only taste the spice at the end . It's not overly spicy; it's just right. The fried chicken gizzards were tender but could have used a bit more seasoning. It was served over brown rice and gravy. If I'm not mistaken, there were maybe 8 or 9 gizzards. The fried green tomatoes were perfect! From the seasoning to the grilled shrimp on top. Oh yes, grilled shrimp with this delicious sauce drizzled over the tomatoes. 3 or 4 shrimp. They were delicious! I've never had fried green tomatoes served w/grilled shrimp--definitely a must-try if you've never had it. For dessert, pineapple upside-down cake with coconut cream on the side. It was soooo good! They could have removed the coconut cream, as it was not needed. And it was a shareable portion for 2-3 ppl. There were other desserts, such as Blueberry Cobbler, Key Lime Pie, and Vanilla Ice Cream. If you're in the Hyde Park area, give these folks a try Oh yeah, the Manager, Louis, was walking the floor. I spoke with him briefly From what I observed, it's a very casual dress code--jeans, shorts, blazers, etc. And I loved the quotes on the outside window of those who were killed, like George Floyd and Sandra Bland. This place was nice! The dining area was clean and decorated nicely. The choice of decor fit the overall scheme I look forward to visiting again, possibly next Spring.

Music is pretty loud in this small space. We decided on the 3 entrees for 69.00 with a glass of wine. We chose the pepper steak, smothered chicken, orange chicken, catfish and spaghetti, and the bbq catfish. Overall the food was ok., The bbq fish was a little to fishy and the smothered chicken was heavily salted. The star of our 6 dishes was the fried piece of catfish. The food came out quickly but nothing was piping hot. The server was OK as well, he did exactly what we expect of a server nothing more nothing less. I will say next time I would take the drive to the West side location, to me the food choices are better as well as the service.

It's very clean and modern. The food was amazing. I started off with a peach lemonade/tea drink that was very good. I cannot remember the name, but it was spirit free. Next, I got the collard green dip. This is a must try when you go. Its so cheesy and delicious. It was perfectly seasoned. For my entre, I got the smother pork chops. OMG I did not expect that food to be so good. IDK what they seasoned that gravy with, but it was fire. The porkchops were delicious, and I loved the seasoned rice that it came with. My only complaint was that the kitchen moved very slowly on the night that I went. Front of the house staff was very nice and kind and I was seated right away. However once we ordered the wait time was so bad that my cousin had finished her appetizer and we waited an additional 30 minutes for my collard green dip which was very good by the way. Everything was served one at a time with long wait times in between. By the time I received my entree I was full. I took a few bites of the Chicken and Fish and everything else I took home. Literally as soon as happy hour was over everyone around us started receiving their food very fast. The food was ok a little salty (batter from the chicken, fish and tomatoes). In addition your staff Karen was not so kind and very forgetful of what we asked for. I know she seemed overwhelmed for the area that she had. Our sentiments were shared with the manager but that was it. The owner came by to check in but she just breezed by. I'm not sure that told her of our complaint but as fast as she went by asking was everything ok I dont feel like she would have been open to what we had to say. Overall it was ok, A few suggestions...and yes I would return because maybe today was an off day and everyone deserves a chance to get it right, During Happy Hour everyone should get the same level of service, and if a different menu is offered it should be offered to everyone upon arrival. Nothing is perfect and we understand that and gave grace by waiting and being patient. But these are some easy fixes and I look forward to seeing that on my next visit!

The yolk didn't have a strong mustard base, but it was still good. The saltiness of the capers would have been a bit much on them. My ex ordered the catfish with collard greens and a side of slaw. I must admit that they scored high for the crust in terms of crunchiness and flavor. The greens could have used a little more seasoning. I am no fan of slaw, so I cannot speak to how it tasted. I ordered the pot roast and jalapeno grits. You can have shrimp and grits. Give me pot roast and jalapeno grits any day. The pot roast was tender and the grits were creamy without being runny. Dawn AM Eatery packs out fast. The website recommends making reservations. Because we were playing by ear, we went as a walk-in and had a 30-minute wait. It was well worth the wait, from service to good eating. Next time we will make a reservation. Note: I was so in the moment that I didn't photograph our other dishes.

    ### Dawn AM Eatery Review…read more Got up this morning and everyone decided to have breakfast at Dawn AM Eatery. My sister made reservations for our family. She initially tried to make one reservation for 12 people but was told she could only make **two reservations for six people each**, both for 9:00 AM. That was the first red flag. I walked in at 9:00 AM, and as a Kenwood Academy alum, I saw the Kenwood Academy sign and thought to myself, *"This place is going to be good!"* Boy, was I wrong! Everyone who was already there had been seated, but our family was split up--half on one side of the restaurant and the other half on the complete opposite side. One side had a long bench with approximately 16 tables, and that entire section was practically empty. I asked the manager if our family could be seated together on that side since the tables were empty. She told us **no**. I asked why, since there were plenty of open tables. She simply said, *"We have other reservations."* I explained that there would still be plenty of tables available for those reservations, but she remained firm and completely unwilling to accommodate us. Then she told us that if we wanted to sit together, we could sit **outside**. Keep in mind--it was raining, and we had my **80-year-old mother** with us. Needless to say, sitting outside was not an option. What really bothered me was the manager's attitude. There was no apology, no attempt to find a reasonable solution, and no sympathy for the situation. She was rude and completely unaccommodating. We also had three additional people join our group unexpectedly, and they were told they would have to sit outside because we had more people than originally reserved. Then came the service. Our waiter was extremely inattentive and acted as though he didn't really want to serve our group. He took our order, and then we waited...and waited...and waited. At one point, I went outside to check on our other family members who were seated separately. They weren't waiting for their food--they were **well into their meals**. It was around **10:20 AM** when our waiter finally came over and said, *"Your food will be out shortly."* Our food finally arrived at approximately **10:25 AM--an hour and a half after we arrived!** Unfortunately, some of my family members were visiting from out of town and had plans to go to the **Obama Presidential Center** after breakfast. Because of the extremely long wait, they had to leave immediately after eating and couldn't enjoy the rest of the day with us as planned. So, unfortunately, our experience was: Poor service Rude and inattentive waiter Unaccommodating management No apology or attempt to resolve the situation Family unnecessarily separated 1 1/2-hour wait for our food** The only reason I'm giving Dawn AM Eatery **one star** is because the food itself was decent. For a family gathering of 16 people, this was a very disappointing experience. We came together to enjoy breakfast and spend time with family, including relatives visiting from out of town. Instead, we spent most of our time waiting, being separated, and dealing with poor customer service. **Needless to say, I will not be returning anytime soon.** Dawn AM Eatery--you can do better.
