I've now visited the Norfolk store a few times in the past six months and ready to bump them up to a weak on par, My first experience was trying to get a cart unglued from another one as other customers struggled. They leave them out in the elements with no shelter is my guess. VB store has a canopy to keep weather off them. Friendly staff greeted me with a wipe to clean the cart handle. The store is organized differently than my regular in Virginia Beach, so be prepared. Overall cleanliness good. Organization was as expected if your a BJ's customer, just a different layout. They need not have one item I came for and a manager I spoke with said she would look into it. So I did it up having to go to the other BJ's that week New self checkouts are nice and handicap accessible if in a wheel chair. Virginia Beach does not have them. Norfolk BJ's will not replace my regular, but it's an option. 2.5 rounding up.

3/13/21: I usually have our groceries delivered, but I was in the area and shopped myself. I rarely go on weekends because I can't stand large crowds. Luckily, it wasn't that bad. Upon entering, you're given a Lysol wipe to rub down your cart. After that, there are coupons there doe you to look over at the front of the store. I did my shopping really quick & made my way to the self-checkout line. My coupon didn't work, so luckily there was a supervisor there to help. Checkout was quick and I was in and out in 30 or so minutes. Their vending machine had 25 & 50 cent waters which was awesome because I was parched & dying of thirst. It was much better than having to pay $1.50+ like at other places. The store was neat/organized/clean & the floors were marked to encourage social distancing. Hand sanitizer was available too. I will forever shop at this store. I love Bjs.

Have been shopping here for over a year. Pretty good prices and you will pretty much find everything you need when it comes to food. They also sell some electronic goods.

I HIGHLY discourage anyone to trust this location with your bakery needs at BJ's at 5820 E Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA!

World's okay-est Bj's. It's not fancy, but where else can I get enough toilet paper and paper towels to last me for almost a full year?

We go here mainly for snacks, fruits, and household needs for the kitchen and bathroom. We are typically in and out pretty quickly and it never feels too busy here when we go. They had tiny bottles which were completely overpriced and high end water that was 4 times the price. Since I needed water, I bought a case of the overpriced ones cause there was a sale on the brand. I also got a case of coke which was also quite overpriced in my opinion. Since I am a loyal Costco shopper from Hawaii, I couldn't believe the prices here in VA were the same price or twice as much as Hawaii. I still looked around but couldn't find anything I needed so I got my drinks and left. When I had more time, I went to Costco and guess what? The prices were much cheaper than Sam's club and they had tons of stock of bottled water which I filled my cart with. If you have the time and membership at both, go to Costco for better deals and stock.

Either way, this place is a goldmine if you cook in bulk, run food service, or just love having access to serious restaurant-grade supplies. They have just about everything you could want related to food, cooking, storage, prep, and restaurant operations. Meat, produce, dairy, dry goods, seasonings, containers, equipment, supplies, and all kinds of hard-to-find bulk items. It is basically a wonderland for anyone who loves food or runs a kitchen. Fair warning: bring a jacket. A huge part of the building is basically one giant walk-in fridge, and it gets cold fast. The outside looks a little rough and dumpy, but do not let that fool you. Inside, it is packed with food delights and all things restaurant. If you know what you are looking for, or even if you just want to explore, this place is fantastic.

I opted to use the app during my shopping, that way, if there are coupons, it catches it. I did make a b-line to those items I knew I needed, then went on kind of a scavenger hunt. Knowing that I would be returning home after this, with all my vacation stuff, I didn't want to have to carry too much back and forth. I wondered, checking out the small clearance section. Grabbing random things as I headed toward the front. Using the app made checking out just a bit easier. I would have paid on it, but didn't have my payment method in the app. What I don't like about here is the amount of time the registers take. Most items having to be taken out of the cart and transferred to the weighted area. To only have to transfer it back to the cart. Then heading out, it was easier here than most places. Quick scan of the receipt and I was back outside.

The prices do seem a little higher than their competitor but they do offer a lot of coupons. You can clip them from the mail circular or digitally from their app. The one thing I miss is a food court/concession stand. However, I do like the set-up for the fresh produce especially since you don't always have to buy a huge amount of some things. In the area? Check Them Out!

I knew where everything was located. I bought all my eyeglasses in their vision department. They had great prices, frames and service. Since I've been retired I've kept my card but do much less shopping there because of the distance versus a rival warehouse store. There are items that Sam's carries that I can't find anywhere else. Their low calorie fudge bars are amazing. Fruits are excellent as are the large containers of thin sliced deli meats. They're perfect on Sam's rolls that come in large bags and stay fresh long periods of time if kept in the refrigerator. Heated a few seconds in the microwave before use they taste as fresh as when bought. The two items are perfect together as ham or roast beef rolls for holidays. Don't forget about the warehouse size bags of Sister Schubert frozen yeast rolls. It never hurts to browse the clothing and books. In fact, browsing the entire store might turn up items that are newly stocked. The location is on the southeast corner of S Plaza Trail facing Virginia Beach Boulevard. If you continue across the Boulevard , S Plaza becomes Little Neck Road. Fill up with gas and you're on your way. Thank you Sam's for all the decades of convenience in purchasing.

I was glad it wasn't overly packed like it can be sometimes in there. They had some ham and cheese croissants for breakfast that looked good, some new dips and whatnot. The take and bake section was looking a little skimpy, so I guess we came to late. There weren't any samples either, so I'm not sure if they don't do that on the weekends. I've been waiting to get a card because their normally out, so fortunately they had some this time. The customer service representative was nice. I'm so glad no cell phone salespeople stalked me through the aisles like last time. Lol. It was pretty peaceful without that. There were a few meats that were on clearance and the veggies and salads were reasonably priced. There were a few new things that caught my eye. The deep dish pizza looked good. If my freezer wasn't so full I would have gotten it... The self checkout is pretty simple. If you're paying with cash you will have to go to a different register for a cashier to check you out. They also have rewards you can earn which I wasn't aware of. I was tempted to get a slice of pizza when we left ,but I was a good girl today. Lol. There was a little line, so I passed. The lady at the door checking receipts was really nice! Very upbeat and smiling! Check them out!!

Before I could get in the door good an Asian woman jumped up and told me "We don't have anything above a 1x here" Taken aback by the nerve of this woman I immediately walked out in my shock. Damn! There were no niceties exchanged. Did not ask how she could assist me? I would have been fine with her not saying anything at all, let me do my browsing, and dip. After pondering upon what happened I decided to call and alert a manager to my experience. The same woman answered the phone. I asked to speak with a member of management. She asked for what. I explained that I had a complaint. She told me to call back tomorrow morning. I asked who I would need to ask for. She acted as if she did not want to give me that information. Then she acted as if she didn't know the managers name. She finally said Kim, then Kimberly. I then asked her name and she asked why I needed her name. I explained that it was for documentation purposes. After some hesitancy she finally said her name was "Ok". I feel this experience was a form of body shaming. What business does that? I can't with these folks and their micro aggressions. I will be calling tomorrow morning but feel my concerns will not be heard nor will my experience be validated.
