BJ's Wholesale Club is the third Wholesale Members Only Warehouse in Virginia Beach/Norfolk. Very similar to Sam's & Costco, where I have memberships, I saw no need for a third. So I had no intention of purchasing a membership, regardless of how many discount mailers they sent. That was before Costco & Sam's suddenly stopped carrying the Premier Protein Pancakes that I need for my physician prescribed high protein diet. I also found several more of my favorites there. Since the Wholesale Clubs are notorious for randomly discontinuing popular products, I think the BJ's will be worth the introductory price. After the first year I'll reevaluate. I'm looking forward to finding time for a slow exploration of the store. My normal gameplay is a quick rush in straight to the items that I need followed by checkout. read more

I purchased 3 Party trays of cookies they were very pricey. That wasn't the problem, the problem was they were still and nasty. Call B j's to speak to a manager someone was supposed to call me back no one ever did. It was impossible to bring them back because most of them went in the trash they were for an 85th birthday party which I wound up bringing most of them back home. I live in Moyock NC now but for years shopped at this location. Two days ago, I made a special trip to Virginia Beach. Normally, in a large store staff is busy. I was looking for a particular product I couldn't find, and I was pleasantly surprised and impressed when a staff member named "Autumn" passed by me and then doubled back to ask if she could assist me in any way as it was clear I had questions. She was very polite, courteous and helpful. I was grateful she noticed my need. Her smile and energetic support were a breath of fresh air. Equally notable was David, the Club Manager, who expressed his concern for his staff creating a friendly atmosphere of great customer service which was very evident. Bakery review ordered a cake tried to be as specific as possible with decorations. White frosting, white trim, white flowers. Hand written frosting for the Wording. Bjs added some horrible green to the flowers for some reason, the Wording was some spray airbrush stencil? Asked for Pink got some type of Mauve? I had one job for the party order the cake, pickup, deliver! Tried to be specific as possible on the order form even asked the bakery employee if I was communicating what I needed correctly on the form. What a disaster :( read more

I'm so happy to see the price of gas continue to drop just in time for the holidays. With everything getting expensive (inflation), being able to gas up your vehicle for under $35.00 is a small blessing. I just became a member. I bought a big box of a snack and I had to return it because it was stale. I got some deli meat after eating a sandwich I got sick. I bought some sirloin ground meat and it smelled like horse meat, red and sticky. Forget about the app. You have trouble signing in and no customer service. read more

I love love love that BJs has the app where I can place my order online and pick it up in the store or they will deliver it to my car. I typically go inside to pick up my order and it is always ready. The store is always neat and clean, and the staff at the checkout are always efficient at coming to your aid with ringing up items. The app even has a self check out to ring yourself up and you would not need to even stand in line or use the self check out for your purchase. I appreciate the discounts given for Gas and the digital coupons in the app. Shopping on the app makes grocery shopping trips. Very efficient. I can shop the night before and schedule a pick up after I get off work. The fruits and vegetables are always fresh and the meat selection is very good. I appreciate, the increased selection of organic, Paleo, and foods that are not processed. And compared to shopping at the other warehouse doors, it seems that the customers in Bjs do not run you over in the aisle as the other warehouse stores are so busy on the weekend I will not set foot in during the weekend hours. Step by step they have decreased availability of items they had for years to the point we now don't even look for them at the local club anymore. Used to be able to count on getting auto/boat batteries there but nothing in stock today and tried to call next town club to see if they had and phone was just a recording. There are so many other options now (Amazon, Aldi, Walmart) that it's just not worth remaining a member for the price. And found my battery well stocked at Walmart. Goodbye BJs! read more

I recently had a return at BJ's and wanted to share the experience. I rarely have a return, but this one was a bit of a doozy. I had bought a multi pack printer ink package approximately 6 months ago. When I went to install I found that it was the wrong one HP 94 instead of HP 96 black. Not only did I open the package, but the printer cartridge was open too. These are very pricey, like around $80. So I thought I would try to get an exchange. I dealt with several staff and supervisors at this Bj's who were friendly and professional then entire time attempting to assist me without a receipt. The GM even jumped in and they were looking back at transactions to my card 3 mos back, that is max. However, I knew it was further back than this. At the end of the day, nothing could be produced to show I ever purchased the printer ink at their BJ's, they are proprietary to each store. I knew 100% I did not purchase at the Norfolk store and told them the same. They worked on attempting to get documentation for the return and finally said nothing could be done on confirming it. At this point I was not going to be surprised if they told me this was the end of the story, but they did not. A manager by the name of Rhonda concluded that I had been a loyal BJ's customer for over 7 years and she would do a refund on a gift card. I was of course ecstatic. The full amount was put on a BJ's gift card immediately and after around 45 minutes I was on my way. When is the last time a store said your loyalty was worth something? BJ's is similar to other warehouse clubs in terms of look and feel. This BJ's has a Verizon kiosk as well. Overall, I like this BJ's. I've always been able to find what I'm looking for. Like any wholesale club, you're buying items in bulk, but they last a lot longer too. In general, pricing is similar to Sam's Club, though some items are cheaper here while others are cheaper there. I guess it's a way to get you baited like a fish into each of their clubs. They have a wide selection of products, both national brand and their private label brands. Milk sets BJ's apart from Sam's Club since Sam's Club has the name brands, which are generally higher priced, while BJ's has their own private label milk, which is inexpensive comparatively. I usually come in during off-peak times, so I don't usually have to worry about too much in the way of crowds at the registers, though I was there one time when it was quite busy there (was not during the holiday season). Recently, BJ's added a clerk-served deli as well. Although the options are limited at the moment, I do think there's still something for everyone there. Over the weekends during the day, they also have free samples of various foods and products throughout the place. They also have an on-site gas station and they tend to be one of the cheapest around. They recently added a sign that you can see from the boulevard that has their regular gas price now. I'm not going to review the gas station here as I did that separately a while ago in it's separate listing. Overall, I like the options that they have available here. I've always had good service here when making purchases or need help. It's definitely worth taking a look in here. read more

I Bought Tires online.. I received a Call the day of the scheduled Installation and at first they were trying to reschedule.. Then I was asked what kind of car it was for Because even tho I had given that info it wasn't in the ticket.. Well the tech says these aren't the correct tires.. I said they are the tires that go on my car. Then I was informed they will not Install Tires on aftermarket rims!?!?? So after a little back and forth I'm told I can come in and "Try" to get a refund. Little did I know the "Try" was for real.. Went to tire center first in person and I'm told I can't help you have to go to Customer service.. So Customer service I go.. The first Woman is nice enough and just doesn't have the Authority or know how to give refund.. So eventually maybe 15 min later the manager comes over and says something about a glitch in the system and she can't give me a refund.. So after a little banter I ask"What should I do then, Just leave and y'all keep my 800$" She informs me I should go sit in my car and call Customer service.. I thought I was at a customer service..I ask for the number and then I'm told "Oh, I don't know the number" like huh.. It's in the back of your card and shes done dealing with me.. So I go in car the number is NOT on back of cars by the way.. So I Google it and call.. I'm told It's not BJ's it's my bank.. All the while I'm messaging with my bank the whole time and their telling me it's BJ's holding the money.. I'm told I'm ok ying and there's no way I'm Communicating with them both at the same time. So I ask for a supervisor and I'm met with the same jargin all low level customer service people say. The super has the same resources I have and will come to the same conclusion. I say ok cool can I speak to them Anyway and The guy hangs up.. I call back immediately ask for supervisor and I believe I may have gotten to one, who really knows.. I'm told I need to wait 3-5 business days and then they may have a resolution.. It's a Friday I ordered and set up the work on a Wednesday.. so They 3-5 would be the Next week probably ending n another Friday to wait 2 more days to Maybe get my money back.. Arguing insues and it's going nowhere so I sat good day and hang up.I was told By my bank they would cancel the purchase and mark as fraud so the funds would be immediately available.. I still needed Tires as the ones in the car were all completely work out.. The BJ's tire tech was Terrible, The Manager at customer service was rude and unhelpfull, Their call in customer service are Foreign speaking but wouldn't be an issue but they are super hard to understand..Mind you I had a receipt and Proof the money was withdrawn from my bank.. I went To Discount Tire and they gave me the Same tires I wanted price matched and money off because of the headache with BJs.. I would usually be at BJs every other Day but I have not been back since and I don't think I'll be Renewing my membership. read more

I love this place because this wholesale location is within walking distance for me. My family switched from a Sam's Club membership to BJ's since it was closer, but also because as a small child, I discovered they had Dip-N-Dots, so I begged my mom to switch her membership when we first moved to VA around ~2000. Unfortunately, that Dip-N-Dots is long gone... so now I stare at Costco's food court... and membership... often... So there's NO food court here at all. BJs has cheaply priced snacks in the vending machines and $0.25 water bottles of the BJs brand. I get my tires serviced and purchased here because the coupons, discounts, and their tire service customer service is superb. Buy your tires here and receive free tire rotations. I make appointments to guarantee that my car will get done fairly quickly without having to wait around too long. Walk-ins are welcome though, just can't promise the time spent on the vehicle. Their seasonal items change quite a few times. It's about to be summer, so there are outdoor furniture, beach chairs, lawn chairs, grilling accessories, etc. displayed. I love their winter/holidays items as it normally involves entertainment dishes like cheese plates or individual serving bowls. There are always toys to choose from to buy the kids either for fun or for occasions. Appliances and all sorts of household goods are available for less than Marshall's, Ross, and TJ Maxx. Electronics sold include TVs (look for things on sale), chargers, printers, stereos, Bluetooth speakers, office appliances, etc. They definitely carry things for small business purposes and office supplies. I peruse the office supply section to replenish my Expo markers for Telestrations and stock up on mild-liners when available. Groceries are a DEAL from meat, to veggies (frozen & fresh), to canned goods, to everyday necessities that include bread, eggs, milk, & butter. Again, hunt for coupons, and you can easily request a coupon book normally mailed out monthly at the front customer service area. I personally love the frozen raw, de-veined shrimp. Way cheaper than grocery stores that hold sales. Just think of it much like Sam's club - Walmart in bulk. Many items you can find at a deal when purchased in bulk. It's great for me since I love hosting parties, so food, wine/champagne, and paper items are at a great deal. I'll never give up my card, even when I do venture to Costco. This place has it all. I went into the bjs in va beach three weeks ago to pick up some of their prepared chicken leg quarters for dinner, they had one order there that was burnt on the end of the drumsticks, ok, so I purchased them thinking that I could disguard the burnt ends, but low and behold when I got home to warm them up for our dinner and sat down to eat, the taste was HORRIBLE, IT HAD THAT BURNT TASTE ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE CHICKEN!!! I then called customer service three times and that I was promised that the issue would be rectified, THEY LIED, I never got a call from management as promised, and never got the gift card that was promised. Ppl at this company LIE and try to pass on their inept management. I will put my complaints about bjs on the Google platform and let ppl know just how effed up bjs really are. read more

There's this scene in first season of the comedy series "Modern Family" that nearly made me wet myself. Mitchell and Cameron, the gay couple, are shopping in a giant discount wholesale store (like BJ's or Costco or Sam's Club). Mitchell has an attitude like he's doesn't want to be there and he's too good for it. He's the snobby one. Then the more he looks around and begins to realize he can purchase everything in football stadium-sized portions, everything that one could ever need from birth till death...he becomes obsessed and starts loading things onto their cart a mile high. That's me at BJ's. BJ's is my favorite of these store and I like the way this location is laid out both inside and in terms the parking. BJ's carries name brands and their own generic brands. Cheap prices on conventional romaine hearts 6 counts ($3.99), 5 lbs. bag extra-fancy red large delicious apple from Mott ($5.49), and 3 lbs. banana ($1.39), $33.99 Pediasure vanilla 24 counts (cheaper than the CVS generic brand), frozen organic vegetable medley corn, beans and carrots ($6.99), kind bars variety pack 5 g sugar ($18.99 for 18 counts), some complementary nice food and beverage samples at food stands have been offered sometimes, .... Their prices have been sometimes more expensive than the generic or name brands at Kroger, Walmart, Dollar tree, and Trader Joe's, in which you can buy smaller quantities (e.g.: Frozen organic super sweet white corn, toothpaste, lightning cable, otter case for the IPhone 5, diapers, female period pads, etc). This has been especially true when you look at the weekly specials (e.g.: Kroger small red delicious apple weekly special $.99 per pound). You have to compare the prices per pound or count. They don't sell picture frames. No bags available at the fast and friendly check-out, but free boxes, easy and free to park.... What ever you do DON'T GET A BJ's Card Let me tell you about your BJ's Membership and BJ'S Master Card. I had automatic charge of $55.00 from BJ's for a membership renewal July 1 2022. Me and my wife were looking at other wholesale clubs and weren't sure which company we were going to use. I contacted BJ's customer service about the charge to the BJ's Master Card I have and they did a refund which I received 7/26/2022. During the two weeks of checking other clubs my wife was getting adds from BJ's for a $25.00 membership so she signed us up. On August 1 2022 my BJ's Mastercard again was charged $55.00 membership renewal again, sense then I have contacted BJ's Customer Service at least 15+ times about a refund of this 2nd charge. I have been told from there foreign country based customer service that I'll have the refund in 2 weeks, I'll have the refund in the next billing cycle, I'll have the refund in two billing cycles, these excuses have been used more then one time, by the call center people, the supervisors of the call in center, anyone that speaks to you. I have spent hours on the phone with them, I ask for people about things and get hung up on, I ask for American based phone number, they don't have it, I ask for the supervisor above them and I get you will get a call from them. Guess what NO PHONE CALL, who would have imagined !! Some of the best part of this is I'm being harassed from the Cominity Bank the company that handles the BJ's Mastercard for money I DON'T OWE. First when the charges were done on July 1 2022 I went into the BJ's Mastercard online center and Froze the account and set it to NO automatic charges. The account had a ZERO balance at this time. So they then charged again in August when the setting had the account Frozen. I call BJ's Mastercard / Cominity Bank and I get there is NOTHING they can do and NO MATTER WHAT YOUR SETTING ARE when it comes to BJ's Company they can charge you. So save yourself time and headache and hours of being on the phone. RUN AWAY FAST !!!! read more

I'm not very fond of this particular location. I'm a member of other wholesale clubs and this club is last on my list. I usually go to this location around noon to 2 on weekdays and there is always a line. They usually have 2 and even 3 lines open if I'm lucky. However, the self checkout lines were ALL open with a long line there as well. If I did not have to ring up my items as tax exempt I would use the self check out lines since most of the customers had less merchandise in their carts. The self check outs do not ring your items tax exempt. That is something they should upgrade their systems for since Sam's club is capable of doing that on their self check outs. Prices are a little higher than the other two wholesale clubs in the area. Most of their products are about the same of what you might find in other wholesale clubs. If they did not carry this specific product at BJ's, I probably would not be a member. The customer service is ok. It seems like the cashiers and even the person checking your receipts as you walk out do not like to smile. I've seen a few smiling faces here and there in the store but that is a rare find. It also seems like the cashiers do not enjoy working. One time a cashier was complaining that she did not go on break yet. I guess she could not go on break since that will only leave one or two registers open. If you like going to this club, then so be it. As for me, I will only come here for the products I need since the others do not carry it. Costco and Sam's club are my preferred wholesale clubs to frequent. Pros: They have the products I need! I absolutely love BJ's! The gas is always cheap here, definitely cheaper than most gas stations. It's never been overly crowed on the days that I've come. The staff is helpful if I'm looking for something. The prices are reasonable. And the lines haven't ever been that bad. I usually come once a month, so experiences may vary for the more frequent visitor. read more

Smaller location, still offers a large selection. Some of the pricing isn't much less than other stores. The BJ's locations we've been familiar with are more up North and have all had great savings. Could have some more healthy brands as well as organic. Overall friendly, helpful staff and clean store! Love that there is a gas station as well. read more

I gave up my membership from another whole sale club to this one because the other one looked really dirty in the food section. On a whim, I thought I'd give this place a try for a months free trial and I'm very happy that I did. Membership is cheaper, very clean eating area, and the employees are extremely friendly!
