We rejoined BJS a few years ago and we are fairly satisfied. In general , they do not compete with the other BIG CLUB in North Glen Burnie but we keep our membership due to proximity to our home. Gas prices are always lower even though their gas operations are always having problem. Pumps always malfunction with gas receipts and many pumps seemed to be closed here and there. In general , their store inventory is ok with higher prices than the other clubs. The clothing and seasonal inventory always seems to be a bit odd. Still , there are many items we like here especially the produce and deli departments are good. The tire center doesn't impress me so we do not use it. Service is always good here and Staff does a good job. It would be nice if they offered sampling of food products in's like the other clubs. This place definitely needs a significant remodel. The restrooms always seem to have an offensive foul odor and the general store atmosphere is cold , uninspiring and unwelcoming. The carts are old in poor condition too. Not 100% sure we will rejoin next year. read more

1st The Tire and propane department here is horribly understaffed. I've been there several times to get propane "oh sorry we don't have anybody here who is propane trained". You can't trust that if you go in there that there will be anybody to "help" you 2nd. You REALLY need to check the expiration date on everything here. Many times I have found expired meats and cheese. Bottom line, if it was not for the cheapest gas in town I would not belong here. I wouldn't and won't buy anything but gas here, don't bother going inside. read more

I placed an order online for curbside pickup. The order was ready ahead of schedule (received an email the day before indicating the order was ready). The parking lot has an 8' height restriction with overhead borders at the entrance of each lane. Luckily, I entered the parking lot in the lane where the curbside pickup area was so it was easy to find. Unlike the Sam's Club app, where you can check in even if you're not in the vicinity (if someone else is picking up your order for you), with the BJ's app you have to actually be on-site at the location (with Location Services turned on of course) before it opens a screen to allow you to check in (an enjoyable feature, so I don't accidentally check in to a different location, which I've done before with the Sam's Club app). It took less than 5 minutes for the employee to come out with my products and greet me and help me load them into the trunk. I like employees who do not rush the pickup orders and that turn the task into a enjoyable tetris game inside the trunk. It would be nice if there were a way for the in-store employee to communicate via the app an approximate wait time or how many customer orders are ahead of mine. Still, great overall experience. I would do curbside at this location again. read more

I've done a lot of pickup orders but this was I think the first time I did scan and go and I'm happy that they have now implemented this like other box clubs have read more

Stopped in today to grab 4 items and ended up with way more! Nothing I won't use though. They recently rearranged the store which drove me crazy but I did notice some signs where old stuff was directing you to the new aisle. I initially stopped at the customer service desk because I had issues linking my account to the app. The lady offered a few suggestions but not really a solution. I didn't have time to play with it all day so I just shopped and paid without my coupons today. Would have liked to save some money but oh well. I should mention that prior to leaving my house to run errands this afternoon I sat on hold with BJs customer service main number in attempt to solve the problem before I went to the store. After over 50 minutes of waiting, I hung up. I usually get everything I need in this store. For some reason...I can't find croutons anytime I go there. I know, tragic. I'm so disappointed! I used the express checkout wherein you scan the items with your phone. I had a total of 8 items and a very nice man allowed me to go ahead of him on a very busy Friday afternoon. Remember this is supposed to be express so I had all 8 items scanned and paid for with a scan code on my phone. I got to the woman checking receipts and she proceeded to scan EVERY - all 8 items- and then apparently didn't understand how to scan the items correctly. I said why are you rescanning all 8 totally visible items again. I feel really bad holding up the line to leave when I had EXPRESS checkout. She said well this is your first time doing express and I said no I use it every time I come here. She then told me that if I didn't come once a week that they would always rescan the items in the cart. Well totally false. Ugh imagine if I had 50 items in the cart! C'mon BJs DO BETTER! Don't offer this express service if it isn't going to be express. 8 items are easy to count and matches the scan code says 8 items! Again DO BETTER! read more

BJs has been going downhill for years now. They have inconsistant inventory ,with items you've been buying for years suddenly disappearing never to return. Often there is a long wait for checkout, both cashiered and self. The facility itself is dingy, the carts are old and faltering, the men's rooms smells strongly of urine with toilet paper on the floor. They still have good deals but this place needs an upgrade. read more

Bottom Line: A good wholesale club with a few unique features and a fair membership price. I lived in San Diego for 12 years where you are a pariah if you don't belong to Costco. So I still belong to Costco which I enjoy but I recently joined BJs because it is closer to my house. BJs doesn't feel quite as nice to me as Costco but overall I like it. My household only consist of two members so there are not a ton of things that I buy in bulk but I do tend to by a few staples like shrimp, chicken breast, ground beef and cereal in bulk. As compared to Costco, here's what I like about BJs: - They have a Dunkin' Donuts inside for morning coffee - They sell greeting cards - They have a deli that slices meat and cheese to order -They sell normal size loafs of bread including Arnold sandwich thins - Membership fees are low, I think as new members we only paid $25 I'm still a big Costco fan but BJs will now be in the rotation too. read more

Writing this for anyone looking for supplies and groceries during covid-19. Various family members and I have been in and out of this BJ's over the past month and a half and have had little issues. You know those photos going viral of people lined up outside Costco, in totally unsafe, non-social distancing ways? I haven't experienced that here. While we weren't able to find hand sanitizer or clorox/lysol wipes, we were able to purchase hand soap, paper towels, packages of water and other meats and frozen goods. I did chuckle to myself seeing the soap that was still sitting on the shelves - remember to wash your hands! read more

The traffic signs in the Pasadena BJ's parking lot need to be replaced.They are old and faded and can barely be read. There are at least (7) Stop signs, (1) DO NOT ENTER, (1) Keep Right, and 1 lane divider sign as you are leaving. Also (4) of the STOP signs need 4 way panels added below them. Saturday morning, I placed a sizable grocery order from BJ's Pasadena at 11:30 am For same day delivery. I received an email around 1:30 explaining that they needed more time to prepare and deliver my order. At 4pm, I called explaining that I needed to leave for work at 4:30. I was told that my order was picked up by Door Dash at 2pm. I explained that I needed to leave my home and that I wasn't sure that my food having been picked up two hours prior was any good being In A hot vehicle for that timeframe. I called and spoke to store manager by the name of Lisa who told me that she would talk to her district manager today and get back to me by 1pm. Heard nothing from her. I called her and asked what the outcome was and was told to dispute my charge with my bank because BJ's computer had a glitch. I told her that it wasn't the banks responsibility to refund the money to me that Bj's debited from my account. She basically asked me to lie to my bank due to their internal computer problem. Called door dash and was told that they never even got my order number in a request. So as of this hour, I'm out almost $700.00, with no groceries, no money refunded to go elsewhere to buy my groceries for my family and not one person at BJ's who gives a damn about the situation that they have placed me in. My next action will be a call to the Media, look for this situation on the local news! It's time for these big corporations to be accountable for their mistakes and make good on them instead of placing their members into a system of strife and stress! Boycott BJ's and all affiliates! Oh how run down this place has become. Growing up in Pasadena BJs was everyone's go to big store wholesale club, in recent years the service and quality of the store has been getting worse and worse. Not sure if the store is skimping on staff dollars, but products are thrown all around, spilled rice is just sprinkled in the aisle, chicken juice is leaking all over the meat cooler, many refrigerator sections are empty, and countless other failures of bad management. Have any doubts, go to the Westminster MD BJs and see what you are missing. At other BJs I could easily spend $100+ this BJs is missing items or just so dysfunctional that I would rather take my money somewhere else. Make sure you grab a cart in the parking lot because there are no carts inside and the carts are so backed up outside they are almost blocking the lanes for cars to go up and down the parking lot. Thank goodness I got my membership on a special $25 with a $25 credit because I would be beyond disappointed if I payed full price and the place was like this. Gas lines are always crazy and the layout of cars entering both sides only adds to the time and confusion. Do yourself a favor and drive the extra 10 mins to Costco where you don't have to double check the expiration dates on the meats and employees are there to assist you. read more

Recently found a deal on Living Social for a 1 year membership to BJ's for only 19.99. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm pretty much a sucker for bulk shopping, so this was right up my alley. So a few days back I went in to go through the process of signing up, and went for a stroll around the store. I stopped by the food area to pick up a slice of pizza, and a soda. It was here where I noticed the first difference between BJ's and its 2 main competitors. The pizza they sold by the slice was $1.99 same as Costco or Sams Club, but only it was smaller and not as good, which ended up being the best description I could come up with for this location overall. If you closed your eyes and walked through the doors of this place, you would swear you were at Costco. Even the signage is the same. It has the same exact feel as Costco. That is until you start shopping. I have had a valid membership at Costco since 2004, and Sams Club since 2007, and over time I have been able to spot small differences in them both. Those differences typically offset, because they both tend to have a few items that the other doesn't. Sometimes they both have the same type of item, but you prefer one over the other. I was actually eager to shop here once I got my card, but ended up being disappointed by the selections that they offered, and that really became more apparent after I got to the meat section. I mean I might as well had been at Food Lion, everything just looked so regular. (Note: The next day I went to Costco, and purchased 9 lbs or pork loin for $16.and some change and 8 lbs of country style ribs for 14.93). My lady pointed out that they have a deli there which was really the only bright spot for me, besides the price on canned tuna and chicken, which isn't enough to keep me coming back. Overall: Im hoping that this isn't a reflection of BJ's as a whole. There is another location in Columbia, and before I just say no to BJ's I will go check out whats going on over there. I may do some non food related shopping here, but I just didn't see anything here that was better then what I've been getting at Costco or Sams. read more

We do not hate going here, we actually have fun pulling coupons off the book and we enjoy our shopping at this location. I do have TWO big complaints. 1. Every single time one of the cashiers at the store check out our groceries and we make it to the door, one of two things always happen, either they did not scan an item or they scanned one item twice. It's is nice that the person at the door catches it tho! 2. WHY, WHY, WHY ON DAMN EARTH, every time we go there someone have to ask me what would be my next home improvement project?!? I do not go to the grocery store for this bull crap! If I want to fix something in my house I go to god damn Lowe's or Home Depot! Tire Service: Worst experience ever. Tuesday, I call the tire center because I have a flat and am told I can have an appointment Thursday if I can find my paperwork and call back that day. Find my paperwork, call back and no answer. Wednesday, call back same number 5 times and no answer. Thursday, decide to just go in and make an appointment in person. I am told I can only have an appointment a week later. Reluctantly accept. Take my car in the next week. I am told my tire would take an hour to fix. Come back an hour later the car is not done. Two hours later, still not done. Go in to see what happening and am told my tire in unfixable and the tires I currently have are not in stock and they aren't willing to get them from another location although they were available (could have called and told me this). Still not fixed and now have to go to an outside mechanic. Ridiculous. Never again. read more

I've been a BJs member for about 15 years and the Pasadena store is my home base. Overall, the experience has been OK, but I think it could easily be improved with some minor customer experience adjustments if management so desired. The biggest pro is that the prices are good for the most part on items such as milk, produce, and meats; and I got a great deal on tires a couple years ago. Also, the cashiers and customer service staff are always helpful. My biggest con (which is probably within local management control) has been with the quality of the products provided with the pick-up service. I thought this service was a helpful addition with social distancing, but they don't offer the service for all items, so you still have to walk the aisles and then pick up your call-ahead order, and sometimes the wait is longer than just shopping the aisles in the first place. Second, they don't offer a call-in option when you arrive at the store, so if you don't have their app, you have to go inside anyway. I've used the pick-up service about six times, and three of those times, product packaging was ridiculously mangled and in one case the seal was broken on some roasted red peppers and there was mold throughout the jar. Unless these were a series of bad coincidences, it seems like they off-load damaged goods on the pick-up customers knowing that to rectify the situation, you have to go through the hassle of getting into the customer service line for a refund (after inspecting every product in the cart before leaving the store). If a product is damaged and you wouldn't buy it yourself, then don't sell it. I've been a customer of Amazon Fresh for about 3 years and have used that service about 50 times, and almost never have problems with their products (including produce and meats). BJ's, if you want to, you can correct this with a little integrity and quality assurance. Also, the whole BJs coupon system (the booklets, flyers, and the e-coupons) are such a hassle and waste of time. Some items are sold at the sale price without a coupon, and others need a coupon. Why? If an item is on sale, just sell it at the sale price like you do with some of your items. My other con is that they allow obnoxious sales reps, from cellular phone companies and the like, to ambush you when you walk into the door and they won't take no for an answer. The sales reps are strategically located so that you have to run their gauntlet. I haven't seen them lately (hopefully they put an end to it), but it makes for a negative customer experience. read more

Do not buy tires here! They have great prices, but the install service is probably the worst I have ever seen. Granted, you get lifetime road hazard, balancing and other goodies along with your purchase. The down side is that there is usually only one person working in the tire area and it will take ALL DAY to get your tires mounted. Heaven forbid, you come back to get the free rotation and balancing. They have a sign posted telling you it will be 1.5 hours for service, no matter what you need done. I went in this morning, got there at 9:05 and there were four people ahead of me. We were all standing there, no sign of anyone working. Then one guy comes in and you can tell by the look on his face that he isn't in a good mood. He then starts with the first customer, the guy has a flat. Ten minutes later, he is still with the first guy. At some point, you have to ask yourself, "what is my time worth?". read more

This is way BJ's will never reach the same level as Costco. I would rather spend my money at Costco and not worry about coupons. When Costco is having a sale, you don't have to cut out the coupon(s) from their flyer. The price is automatically discounted once the items are scanned, as oppose to BJ's where you need the coupon in order to get a discount. Unfortunately, the product I purchased at BJ's is on sale which means that I have to drive back for a price adjustment. If only they would discount when my items are scanned like Costco. read more

BJ's Tires-If you carry extra lug nuts around or the actual socket that fits your current size lugnut this place is for you. If by chance, you just know you need tires this place isn't for you. I waited two weeks an after I dropped the truck off for a 6pm appt time I find out at 635pm they can't replace my old tires for the new tires I already paid for. WTF. I ran to 3 auto supply stores to get 24 lug nuts, before BJ's Tire closed. Had 10 minutes to spare and my truck was parked at the same place I parked it at to begin with. Guy just looks at me and my nuts in hand and says can't do it tonight. Refund and the last hour of my life back. ----As of this morning even if I go to an Actual tire place I will need All New Lug nuts because they are now stripped and rounded off. Thanks BJ's Tire again for the wonderful job. BBB is my next step. read more

This review is specifically for the deli. I have gone to the deli counter in this store many, many times. A 15-20 minute wait is the norm. Not an outrageous wait. You can usually grab a numbered ticket and see how far down on the list you are. If there's going to be a wait there's time to walk around and get some other things or try some samples. The prices are great! Usually a few bucks below other stores prices (sales included). They have always shown me a slice and asked if the thickness is OK. When slicing softer cheeses they have laid the slices side by side with paper sheets between them to prevent sticking. The only negative is some of the employees are not always pleasant. For instance, last Thursday evening I needed a little lunchmeat to get through the rest of the week. I stopped at BJ's around 7:30 and as expected it was not busy at all. I went to the deli counter and there were no other customers. There were three employees behind the counter. One was getting off as she was removing her gloves and apron. The other two were cutting lunchmeat for the "grab and go" (my name for it) case. I stepped up to the counter and waited. Nothing. I waited some more. Nothing Even though there were no other customers I figured maybe I had to take a number anyway. so I got a number and went back to the case, standing right in front of the deli workers. Nothing. They finished the meat they were cutting for the pre cut section, bagged it and went to get more and started another bag. Still nothing. Finally after finishing the second bag of lunch meat and coming out from behind the counter to put it in the case did I finally get a "Can I help you?" I didn't expect them to stop in the middle of what they were doing when I got there but: 1) to start a second bag while I was waiting 2) to stand there without so much as being acknowledged just shows poor customer service. It's not always like this. Hit or miss with the attitudes. Maybe store management could impose a little more supervision and training. Overall I will continue to go to BJ's. The experience at the store would be a solid 4 maybe 5 stars if the customer service improved. read more
