BKK was always a favorite until it wasn't due to poor staffing and wait times on food. But we gave it another chance this past week and it was so great!! This is BKK's second location off of Staples and Saratoga near B & J's Pizza. It is a stand alone building in the plaza with big windows that reveal the beautiful interior. Upon arriving, we were seated immediately and given menus. The menu has a decent variety of dishes but most are priced very high. Our waitress was fantastic throughout the night! She was cheerful, polite, and worked very hard to give us a good experience. I'm only giving two stars because she was great. What we ordered: Chicken Tom Yum Soup - We ordered this dish to share with everyone at the table. Judging it as a soup, it tastes nice. But if I want authentic Tom Yum this is too sweet, needs lemongrass, and is missing the signature Tom Yum sourness. 6/10 Chicken Pineapple Curry Fried Rice - Good portion size and flavor was nice. This was also on the sweet side but comparable to other curry fried rice I have had elsewhere. 7/10 Pad See Ew - Yikes! This was NOT pad see ew. No sauce, dried up noodles, and raw carrots. If you are going to use dried flat noodles they have to be rehydrated and cooked properly. These were not and resulted in a dried up, crunchy dish. 1/10 My big problem with this restaurant was the lack of care for my mom's dish. She ordered a gluten free mixed vegetable stir fry and it was so salty it was inedible. She has heart problems and cannot have a lot of salt!! We requested a remake but were told they can't make it less salty because the gluten free sauce is bottled. According to our server, this is a regular problem. They could only control the salt level for the regularly prepared dish. We had it remade and it was swimming in sauce and super salty. She only ate part of it while trying to drain the sauce from the veggies. Our waitress was very apologetic and asked if they could reconcile this. We said whatever they saw as acceptable. We could not believe it when our check came out with a 3% discount. 3%?!?! That was what management found acceptable?! It was a total of .45 cents off the bill. It didn't even cover the $2+ they charged us for credit card fees!! I will not be giving this place another try. I was so disappointed by this place because it's so close by, but I ordered three things tonight, and all three were inedible. The "large" Tom Kha soup came in a rather small container for the $11.50 price point. It was sickening sweet and not at all a typically tasting Tom Kha soup. The pineapple fried rice was super salty and overcooked. The sticky rice with mango had burnt hard rice in it and almost no sweetness. The bad went to the BKK on Alemeda. Service was not good or i was impatient. They may have been understaffed not sure. The first person to see me could have acknowledged that there may be a wait. The good. Since that did not pan out I visited the BKk on S. Staples. Nice interior clean And modern. Before ordering I inquired about spice levels. 1 through 3, and was told they have additional spices if needed. Started with the Rom Yumm with Shrimp level 2. Level 2 had the right amount of heat for me plenty of tomatoes And mushrooms a few slices of lime. Very pleased with this soup. Next the pad price king. A fried flounder in a curry paste with vegetables.i also opted for the fried rice vs the jasmine. Again level 2. Nice flounder filet sitting on onions, peppers and carrots with the level 2 heat I wanted. Recommend them. Overall between the two places I give them a four star rating. Came here for brunch on Sunday. The place looks nice but that was about all that was nice. We walked in and were the only guests in the spot. The server got us water and our orders but then it took them 20 minutes for our food to come out. Then the food was average at best. I did like the hash. We got one drink then left. I ordered the Tiger Cry Steak and it was absolutley terrible. It was rubbery and was barely warm. The staff was nice about it tho, and he was pretty chill. They need to work on the sound bounce in the resturant, you can hear one table from across the resturant even if they are talking at a normal level. thai tea was good tho and the satay starter with peanut sauce was really well cooked and so flavorful I'd probably come back just for that lol read more

How freaking hard is it to make French toast? I don't understand why every time I order this it's always burned with the first order. Which is fine when you're eating there, you can send it back and get a non-burned French toast but when you order it to go or are you GrubHub it. I actually eat here pretty often because it's down the street from me, but it's not the best Thai food I've ever had. If Nom's kitchen was closer to me, I'd choose them every time! I've actually been pretty disappointed with some of the infamous Thai entrees. Tom kha 0/5 Disgusting. The typical Tom kha soup I'm familiar with has a beautiful white color that's coconut based . The Tom kha here is so orange and looks like curry. It is SO sour and overpowering that you don't taste any other flavors. All I taste is the lime leaf. I don't taste coconut milk or lemongrass. Very disappointed because I love Tom kha. Satay 1/5 Kind of bland and lacking flavor. Would not order again. Pad Thai 2/5 Their pad Thai was very liquidy. Almost like a soup. However, don't get me wrong. They do have some really delicious items on the menu as well. Thai summer rolls 5/5 Delicious! Not too greasy and fried to the perfect crisp! I do wish the portion was bigger especially since the roll itself is small (about the size of my index finger) you get 3 in an order for $5. Firecracker Shrimp 5/5 Love this! It's so crispy and delicious. Probably one of my favorite items on the menu. Teriyaki chicken 4/5 Good! Your typical chicken and rice entree with veggies. The tortillas on the tacos broke so you couldn't eat them like a taco, and we had to just use forks to eat them. The French toast was soggy and tasted old (we picked up our food only 20 min after placing the order). The potatoes are extremely soggy and mushy. Plus, they forgot our bacon. This place is very disappointing. I have eaten here in person as well as through food delivery. The food has become subpar, muted flavors and lack of attention to the meal. Attached in this review is a picture of the Pad See Ew takeout order. Per the menu, pad see ew comes with Chinese broccoli and carrots. My order was a monochromatic medley of beige tofu, chicken, and noodle...for 20.00. This food is NOT quality and not representative of the prices they are being charged. I believe you're just paying mostly for the novelty of the restaurant and the allure of having a building with a nice interior design though the Thai food offering is average. There are other options in Corpus Christi that reflect more accurately the balance and robust flavor of thai cuisine for a more reasonable price in my opinion. Come to BKK for a nice decor, cocktails and some of the appetizers which are done well including the summer rolls, money bags, and satay. Definitely would not recommend coming to a Thai place to order Pho. The pho offering here is lacking in some of the essential flavor profiles of a pho. read more

This is not good y'all. If ADHD was a restaurant, it would be named BKK. It's complete chaos in here. We went in on a Wednesday evening directly after work, around 5:45. Only About half of the tables were filled, but instantly this was SO LOUD. I mean literal shouting across the table to my husband to have any sort of conversation. It was not a good vibe at all. The table we were sat at was a high top. The configuration of the table base won't allow you to push your chair in unless one of the chair legs rests on the table base, then making you wobble back and forth. So you either get to sit about a foot away from the table and awkwardly lean in to eat, or be wobbling all dinner. Awesome. The service...I'm still not sure who our waiter was. We had four different people come in randomly throughout our dining experience. One person brought water, one brought food, one took our credit card to pay, and one stopped in and asked "how are you feeling?" Which I'm still trying to figure out. What does that even mean in a restaurant capacity? Food was lackluster. I enjoyed my dinner salad with peanut dressing. Green curry was my meal. I specifically ordered that dish based on veggies, it stated Broccoli as one of the veggies, which is my fave! However it arrived with no broccoli at all :( I was disappointed. My hubs ordered pad Thai and it was not good. The noodles were dry and had a burnt taste. We also were told three times that the food was "almost out" and "we're just waiting on one more thing". None of that seemed correct because we still continued to wait. It wasn't exceptionally long so I'd rather just not be told anything. But don't say things that are inaccurate just to sound good. My husband and I both would agree NEVER to dine in again mostly because of the loudness. We could literally hear every word from the people at the bar conversing with the bar tender. So I'm sure they could hear us too. Side note, If you decide to order to go, beware. I saw two people coming to pick up to go orders and neither were ready. They waited a long time. One lady sat down at the bar and ordered a drink it took so long. She brought this to the (what I assume to be) manager's attention that the online ordering system had alerted her that her food was ready, so that's why she came in to pick it up. The manager replied with something to the effect of "that system is really not cooperating and never works right. I'd recommend if it says it's ready to wait 15 more minutes and then come." Haha! The customer said why don't you just fix your system? But the manager just kept insisting that it was never going to work right so the customer should just give it more time and hope for the best when she shows up. Pretty poor managing. I would probably rate 3.5 stars for food. 0 star for atmosphere. So 2 stars overall. I don't recommend this. Tuk tuk down the road on Yorktown was a really good experience for us, we will go back there next time for Thai. I recommend them. read more

The service was fabulous. Didn't have to wait for sitting. It's fairly new to the south side. It is also small and I believe they will eventually open up a patio area. We started with an iced Thai tea. Sweet and strong as it should be. No refills on this. We tried the half and half which is half seaweed salad and half serving of octopus salad. Delicious! Curry was next. They were out of chicken, so I got shrimp and tofu with my Penang curry. Perfection with steamed Jasmine rice. Noodles are optional. The green curry was also very delicious. The vegetables used in our dishes were perfectly cooked with slight crunch. The portions are also very satisfying. We also tried the spicy tuna tower made with fresh mango, cucumber, octopus and the spicy tuna over a bed of steamed sticky rice. Be prepared to pay $10-12 for cocktails. So eating there is great. But getting to go food is awful. The flimsy styrofoam containers have popped open and dumped my food into the to go bag as I'm driving or as I'm carrying it in my home. We just came on Mother's Day for brunch and were excited to be seated right away and our server was awesome, however as we were waiting for our food we had noticed every table around us was waiting awhile for their main course, so we had excepted that our food would take longer than usual but two hours went by and we finally received our food. I'm not exaggerating when we got there before 1pm and left after 3pm...my husbands drunken noodles were hard like they had sat to the side for awhile and everyone got there food at the table 10 before I the mother on Mother's Day received my food....we also were ordering mimosas and had to wait 30 min for a second one while we watched the bartender not even look at tickets to make for the restaurant...you think if food is taking too long the cocktails would be pouring to make up for it? I was excited to finally get the opportunity to try BKK, but this put a sour taste in my mouth with the lack of making sure the experience is up to par. The food is always amazing, but the service is usually too slow for a work lunch. I don't know if I just got lucky, or if things are just faster at this location, but my food came out scary quick.
