I really wish there was a 0 star option. A few months ago, I visited B'kln Burro on Fulton Street in Brooklyn for the first time. We parked outside and my wife and 2 month old daughter were in the car waiting while I went inside to get food. My wife wanted a burrito with a mix of chicken and beef but with no rice and I wanted the same but WITH rice. I ordered my wife's burrito first and the cashier/order taker asked if I wanted a quesadilla instead. My wife had never ordered one before, so I wanted to check with her first. I went outside (there was snow on the ground) and asked her and she said she did not want a quesadilla. Fine. So, I went back in and asked for a a burrito with no rice and a mix of chicken and beef. The cashier, who was Asian (I only mention this so whoever is reading this can be on lookout for him or the management can quickly fire this guy) became pretty rude and said we could not mix chicken and beef. I looked at the menu and both options were the same price so I asked why? He couldn't do 1/2 scoop of chicken, then a 1/2 scoop of beef? Are your inventory controls THAT tight that you can't accommodate this simple request, especially from a first time customer? WOW! I told him that it was for my wife and she was nursing our daughter in the backseat of our car and it would really make her happy. He basically responded that he didn't care and that we could take our business elsewhere. I believe he said something to the effect of "I'm not serving you. You can leave now." Clearly I left and took our business elsewhere. Keep in mind, we have lived in the neighborhood for over 20 years and get Mexican food a LOT. I mean like a least weekly if not more. My wife and I both went to college and lived in the Bay Area in Cali so it is now in our DNA. Here in Brooklyn, we usually go to either Castro's, Villa Pancho or Oaxaca Taqueria but, since we were on Fulton in Clinton Hill, we wanted to check out the new spot and support. This person's attitude and rudeness made it clear that he did not care about our requests or interests as potentially paying customers. I am not positive if it was a racial thing or if he was having a bad day. Whatever the situation was, I will definitely NOT be going back there and will look forward to sharing my experience with anyone in the neighborhood that I can. This type of rudeness should not be tolerated. Honestly, if I was the owner or manager of this location, I would seriously consider getting rid of this guy. Who knows how much business is walking right out the door like we did? How many other people is he turning off? How much money is he actually costing you? Finally, if it is really that hard and fast of a rule to NOT mix meats, you should consider changing that rule. ALL of the above competitors have NO problem giving their customers what they want AND with a smile on their face. I am glad there is choice and we do not have to put up with bad service like this. Finally, we will not be going back AND I look forward to sharing this story with ALL of my friends when the situation arises. read more

Tasty burrito spot in my hood. Decided to try the carnitas, it was excellent. Very fresh ingredients. Friendly counter service. I Really enjoyed the grilled tortillas. I've tried to go here twice now to quench my San Francisco burrito cravings and both times were underwhelming. First time, showed up 10 minutes before closing and was told I had to get my mini burrito to go... now I can definitely eat a full sized burrito in 7 minutes, and it was freezing outside. The burrito itself was meh (ratios were off, meat was chewy, not wrapped tightly, etc.), but eating it in the cold while walking certainly didn't help matters. So I figured I'd give them another shot today, got there at 12:05pm and they still weren't open even though they were supposed to open at 12. If you're going to open for lunch, be open at noon (11:30 even!)... otherwise just stick to dinner. read more

Really wish that the experience was better because I live so close by and I love a good mission style burrito. I've been here twice now and these are my thoughts: *TASTE - it's average. Doesn't have the right portions and balance of a mission burrito in my opinion. Nothing to tell your friends about but not bad either. Avoid the tacos tho, way too small and not worth the price. *VIBE - chill spot with a cool backyard and nice music. Laid back spot good for enjoying a burrito. *WAIT TIME - be prepared to wait. My least favorite thing about this place is that it consistently takes 20-30 min for them to prepare your order. I can appreciate it being made to order but c'mon. *PRICE - costs wait too much for what it is. By the prices you'd think this was a popular foodie destination on Instagram or something. read more

I really wanted to love this place. It's been on my list of joints to try for a few months. So when I saw details for their anniversary party pop up on a local blog, I decided now was the time. Their Facebook page said $1 burros all day, from 1pm to 11pm. We were eating out with a job-hunting friend, so it seemed the perfect choice. When we turned up, almost two hours before they were closing, they told us there were no more $1 burros. So we ordered what were tasty but very overpriced (over $6 for one tiny taco and over $15 for a burrito) alternatives. There wasn't much to choose from, and by the time we ordered, they were even telling the people behind us (who had also come for the $1 burros) that there would be no rice in their burritos, as they were out. Maybe their event marketing is just more effective than they anticipated and so they ran out of almost everything. But if I'm going to schlep all the way to Clinton Hill from Brooklyn Heights, it's because I want the offer you advertised. Well, service is kind despite what I read on here. Living in SF for 3 years, I really got to know what a good burrito is. I had the carnitas burrito, and I'd say it's a 3/5. Definitely very filling, but something about the crispy tortilla outside really threw me off. SF burritos never have a crisp on the tortilla. Also felt like it was a tad dry. I'm all for supporting small businesses, but they can't be wallet rip offs. Came here because bf was craving mex food for the past two days, but this place was closed on monday. It's a small joint to say the least, and there were customers still ordering and eating 30min before closing. Bf and I ordered to-go because we live nearby. I got the baby quesadilla with pollo echipotlado ($6), and bf had 3 carnitas mission tacos ($13) with a side of rice and black beans; all totaling $25. What?! Yea, that's pretty expensive and doesn't really fill you up like chipotle does for half the cost. And, it's CASH ONLY. Overall, the taste was good, but not mindblowing for it to cost so much. My baby quesadilla was wrapped like a mini burrito the size of my hand. The mini tacos were cutely wrapped and prepared, but the bf was still starving. They give you a small bag of free chips to munch on while you wait for your food (which is quite a while) and a salsa bar. The guaca is yummy and not spicy at all (win for me!). The chipotle had some heat, which made the bf happy too (double win!). The chips were ok. Not warmed. Not salted. Luckily, I still have tortilla chips at home to supplement my expensive "snack". You can see the chefs prepare your food in a procession line. They do work hard to bring out the food to you fast, but you'll still be waiting a while, so grab some free water. read more

In my opinion, this place is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the North of Brooklyn. I've been going here for years. I grew up eating Mexican food in LA and it can be hard to find in New York. I've been in NYC for about 2.5 years now, and for the first time ever I thought to myself "damn, this is a good burrito." I lived my 20s in Berkeley, Oakland, San Francisco; and I didn't know how much I miss the food 'til I stepped foot in this place. The burrito was mouth watering. The food and service was excellent. I had the classic taco and another Classic style taco with melted cheese and crema. They give you a grilled stalk of green onion on the side. Very tasty. You get chips while you wait and 3 types of salsa to choose. The prices may have been a bit steep but I didn't feel bad after I had a side of chips. I would try it again. read more

My partner and I have had Bklyn Burro burritos once every two weeks for almost three years. We're big fans. I'm a vegetarian, and I have strong opinions about what makes a good and bad vegetarian burrito (it's largely about the vegetable choice, the amount of cheese, and the salsa). I've always ordered and loved the veggie mezcla with black beans and extra cheese (which they melt--brilliantly--over the outside of the burrito), but tonight I tried the chill rey, which is new to the menu. B'klyn Burro is a community staple. The burritos are delicious and so so fresh. I particularly love the new breakfast no-chorizo burrito- it's packed with egg, crunchy fresh veg, potato, and cheese. The salsas are excellent, the chile relleno burrito is excellent, and the Snob is my go-to burrito. Owner Pepe is kind, warm, and friendly. The new art installations are awesome. The staff is always friendly, and the food is okay, I would say a little bit overpriced for what you get, especially when compared to some of the other options in the area. The real issue however is the time required to receive an order. On multiple occasions I have gone in with simple orders of 1 or 2 items and had wait times upwards of forty five minutes. The first time I chalked it up to a bad experience but it has happened at peak times, off peak times, weekdays, and weekends, so I am recognizing a clear pattern. read more

This has happened to me in the past where I swore I wouldn't go back, but i gave it another chance a few months later and it was the same wait time.
