We came here as a group and really enjoyed our meal here. The service was fast (under 10 minutes…read morefor 4 separate meals) and also very friendly. I ordered the veggie burger and my partner ordered the Brie and ham sandwich with a side of broccoli cheddar soup. The veggie burger was perfect in terms of mix of veggies, flavor and freshness and both sandwiches came with a small side of tortilla chips and fresh salsa. We also ordered a side of French fries which were also fresh. Our least favorite thing was the broccoli cheddar soup, which was a little more watery than we would have liked. Others in our party ordered a cheeseburger and an "ah love" chicken sandwich and they liked their food. I ordered a fresh lemonade and it was homemade and tasted great. The food here is very fresh and reasonably priced and very enjoyable overall. We would definitely come back the next time we are here! Warning the parking lot is on the smaller side and there are only about 4-5 tables inside and 2-3 tables on the small outdoor patio.

I used to love Batata and still kind of do love their food but I will never come back…read more On 5/26, I ordered the Zen burger after coming back from the hospital and giving birth to my son a few days earlier. Looking for a burger, I picked the Zen burger which was not listed as having walnuts. I even called the restaurant to confirm this burger was nut free. When I bit into this burger, within 30 seconds, I realized something was wrong when my lips started swelling up and my throat started to close in. My husband called the restaurant back and again asked if the zen burger had walnuts. I was assured that it did not. When I said, please go ask the kitchen, the person on the phone did and confirmed, "oh, it does have a little bit of walnuts in it". I don't think that the people working here understood the severity of this and they offered a refund of the meal that we threw away. Wow, how generous! I spoke to the manager and she just said sorry and that the owner would contact us. We wound up having to go to the hospital over this, after just leaving with our newborn. What a day. It's been a week and my husband has stopped by the talk to the owner but she hasn't been there and has not called, emailed, or done anything since. I don't care if she is busy, it honestly doesn't matter, this is important and I needed some reassurance that this would never happen again to anyone since someone else could have died from this but that never happened. I guess she is just too busy to care. Unfortunately, this is a local business that I used to love but I will never come back and would advise anyone with a food allergy to go somewhere else. The next day they did update the menu and the zen burger now does say "contains walnuts" but it's not reassuring that this will never happen again.

The Sangria Cafe is quite a place and has excellent service. I had my mind set on ordering…read morenonfortified red sangria, but discovered they only have brandy or other liquor infused sangria they make in small batches. You cannot order a fresh carafe or pitcher of sangria with the fruit in it here, which is what I was expecting from a place headlining sangria. So your experience of the Sangria Cafe for sangria will come down to whether you like yours fortified. I like my sangria freshly made to order with just the wine and chopped fruit, but you may have a better experience at Sangria Cafe if you prefer fortified sangria. So the Manager, Elios, was superb. He told me he would let me taste the red, white and lychee versions to see which one I preferred. Given they are all fortified to an extent, I chose to order margaritas. I prefer mezcal margaritas, but they did not have mezcal at the time. So I went with the tequila classic. It was good and I had it to go for my evening at a cigar lounge. I also ordered food to go: the French cut pork chops with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus and the braised beef short rib with small potatoes and broccoli. Here's a twist: the food was better than the adult beverage at a place emphasizing the latter. At all times, my server, Hector, was superb in his own right. Service is probably the strong suit at Sangria Cafe, followed by the food. The French cut pork chops taste like they have been marinated or at least brined. You will eat these down to the bone and you will pick up those bones to clean them. The garlic mashed potatoes were great too, but the asparagus was a bit overcooked. On balance, this $30 dish was satisfying and would have been better had they included a little gravy on the side for the mashed potatoes. The beef short rib at $38 was even tastier. I appreciate the chef took the time to get a good cut of short rib and trimmed the excess fat down to a leaner cut. The meat is inherently marbled with fat, so the flavor is already going to be as present as the savory tenderness. If you dine at a restaurant where there is excess fat on the beef short rib, know the chef there is not putting in the work to trim all that fat. Coudos to the chefs in the Sangria Cafe kitchen for their trimming work. This is even better than the pork chops and you'll savor every bite. The broccoli was overcooked here, so the chefs could restrain themselves on the cooking time for the veggies. The small potatoes were perfect and what is not to like about marbled beef and potatoes. Here they have a little gravy with cooked onions to add to the savory pleasure. The Sangria Cafe is a great place to come with friends. This place will see lots of action as the weather warms. The atmosphere is upbeat and the music is in full swing. This is a Latino and Afro Latino crowd. The kitchen and service are very good here. Perhaps I'm in the minority preferring nonfortified sangria, but I wish that were an option with the chopped fruit in it. Perhaps the majority prefers the fortified hit, but it would be nice to have it more relaxed with just the wine as summer approaches or at any time of the year. Please keep the mezcal in stock as SOP for the mezcal margs. Thanks to Elios, Hector and the chefs in the kitchen. 3.5 stars.

Always checking in , filling up coffee cups , restaurant was clean and not overly busy . We didn't need to wait when we arrived. My friend and both ordered an omelette . She built hers and I just added an item to my omelette. I know it's New York but when it's 4.50 extra just to add ham to your omelette!! I think that's a bit too much!! My omelette already came with mushroom and cheese. Meanwhile my friend was charged 1.50 for each item . Makes no sense to me. Even after asking about it! The potatoes were dry, wasn't a fan but I enjoyed my omelette and that's all I needed at the time! I did see other dishes go by that looked great! It's a place to check out if you want Diner food!
