Submitted an order thru the BA app to pick up an hour or so later. Friday was a busy night for dine in folks and food pick up services. It appears some orders were lost in transit including ours. The recent app/member update seems to have glitches. Can't blame that on the restaurant and the employees though. The hostess and manager were great. They troubleshooted the situation and got it resolved. It was all good. We weren't in a rush and they treated myself and the birthday gal with a few fudge cakes. It might have been a longer wait than we initially expected to enjoy our meals but the food was tasty as usual and for the cost was good value. A little patience and understanding means a lot. The restaurant and service industry can be a tough one to work in and survive. As many places are shutting down these days, it is comforting to know that there is a mainstay like BA. Started frequenting BA on and off thru the years since high school days 30+ years ago. The interior and vibe feels very much unchanged. Matter of fact my HS class celebrated our graduation night on the BA ranch. There is some long term ties and history. I was extremely excited to try the Puyallup location Black Angus brunch menu, but the shrimp and grits were an absolute disaster. Whoever made this must have thought grits come in a juice box. My wife actually asked the server, "Are there any grits under all this soup?" It was so watery they should've served it with a straw instead of a spoon. Somebody in the kitchen needs to learn that grits are supposed to be thick enough to sit on a spoon, not flow through one. Now, on a good note, the chicken fried steak smothered in gravy was absolutely amazing. It was seasoned well, cooked perfectly, and easily the star of the meal. We had reservations for 6pm. We waited 45 minutes for the appetizer to come to the table. When the spinach artichoke dip arrived it was burnt, and not edible. The waiter replaced the artichoke dip. The rib eye was undercooked and had a lot of gristle. We spent 1.5 hours in the restaurant due to the food coming out very slow. We asked for the creme brulee to go. Hate to write a bad review but it was a rough evening!! Had reservations for my parents, myself and my 4 kids. A Monday night, early. Took 30 mins from sitting down to get our wine and another 30 mins to get our food after ordering. The kids' sliders were burnt to a crisp, our steaks were overdone. My mom had her's remade, but I was hungry and just ate it well-done. The happy hour pricing on the wine also seemed to be confusing for our waitress. We weren't given any explanations for the long wait times and no apologies until the remake of the steak. Disappointing when you rarely go out to eat! Let me start by saying I had never been to Black Angus before. I have always viewed this as too expensive. My experience with steak houses were other Australian themed or roadhouse style restaurants. However, today I was celebrating and someone recommended it. First off I love the western theme so that was a win right off the bat. I was surprised that prices were not unreasonable, infact it was cheaper then both other steak houses I have tried. This cheaper price normally translates into cheaper meat quality or smaller portions, but not at Black Angus. 16 oz ribeye was perfectly cooked, melted like butter, and had the perfect char on the edges that felt like some cow poke served me up a fresh slab right on the camp fire. I really enjoyed the meat, but the sides didn't disappoint either especially the Mac and cheese. The only down side I could, if I was picky, mention, is... They should lean more into the cowboy theme. The booths feel like a dated 90s or early 2000's pattern that screams outdated. Like just go all the way into the cowboy theme, give me a wooden bench and a rough cut table to make me feel like I'm eating on the frontier. Honestly tho, I'm not there for the decor, I'm there for the meat, which was great. One last cool thing is they do a local hero discount, so if your a law enforcement or emergency services, health care worker, teacher you get a 15% discount. That is pretty cool, and as behavior and mental health professional most places don't honor it, but they sure did. So thank you Black Angus, you made me feel valued, and helped me celebrate a big milestone in my life. We will be back! ... Oh I forgot to say our server was great too dark haired guy, facial hair... I got the loaded potato soup that taste straight from a can. The salad was fresh but way too much dressing. My steak was cooked perfectly thankfully but the roasted chicken was unseasoned. The prime rib was not cooked as desired so it came to the table tough to eat. The manager was nice enough to replace it free of charge. Bow what really makes me never to want to come back is the fact they have a $5 service fee if you use your card!!! And there is no notice prior to paying your bill. Im still mad about them running out of prime rib. Otherwise they nailed it. The server was awesome and right on top of things. Shes also a killer bartender. We thought Joe was good last time but he's Definitely got some stiff competition now. The stupid app needs to be updated. Its super lame that we can't use our rewards points for drinks here in WA. I had enough points for 2 free drinks! Since you cant do free drinks maybe do 2-4-1 drinks @ happy hour price with 350 points or something like that. Id go for that deal. We have been regulars at this location for years. We usually hit them up every 10 days or so - but we've really noticed it going downhill in recent months. Tonight was a doozy! I made a reservation thru the website as I always do (managed thru OpenTable). I specifically wrote on my reservation that we would like to sit AWAY from the bar area (as I always note). When we got there, the hostess proceeded to take us the very first booth on the right, next to the bar. Strange. So I asked if they had another table not near the bar where she could seat us, since I had noted that request on my reservation. She looked annoyed and went and chatted with the other hostess (meanwhile I can see plenty of open spots on both sides of the restaurant...) Next thing I know, she leads us past several open tables, all the way to the back booth next to the restrooms - WHY?!?. You could literally smell the bathroom bleach. But whatever, we took the table. We ordered the Campfire feast. The waitress seemed lovely. Then she brought our drinks and complimentary bread - which was hard as a rock. Like, yesterday's bread? We had ordered the artichoke dip as our starter, so I didn't worry about bringing up the hard bread - we didn't need it. The dip arrived after a few minutes, burnt on the top (like, black burnt) and we really didn't see or taste any artichoke in it - but it was an ok spinach dip. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. We had arrived at 5:35 pm and it was over an hour before we received our entrees. My sirloin had a couple pieces of gristle, but was mostly good. My husband's salmon was a bit overcooked/dry, but with garlic butter added it was ok. His asparagus however, was as thin as toothpicks and basically raw. WHY? It seemed like everything that could go wrong was wrong tonight. The last couple of times we've been there, we ordered shrimp cocktail, but the shrimp hadn't been deveined properly and there were bits of bits of black in it. One time it was still frozen. So we no longer have ordered that. We're just sad because it was consistent for so many years, but something has changed while the prices continue to go up. Finally, after we get home (2 hrs later), I get an email from OpenTable saying that Black Angus reported us as "no shows" on our reservation. HUH?!?! So I let them know we had indeed shown up. We ordered a Togo order online (party platters) Somehow the system didn't show 2/3rds of our order. When my husband went in to pick up the order and made them aware of the missing items, between the hostess/server, bartender and cook they went to town making it right. Such fantastic customer service. It makes you feel great about patronizing an establishment that has wonderful and well trained staff! Food was great and the service was even better! My husband and I had not been in for a while, so we thought we would take advantage of the campfire feast First off they took away regular grilled chicken. Okay great things change once in awhile but that was not a good one. There really wasn't anything on the main choices that I'm into because I'm not a steak person but I had the shrimp and it was okay. My husband had the flat steak and it was so overly salted and seasoned that he couldn't eat it. Au gratin potatoes for a side? What, four bites? This meal is supposed to be $35 individually and with my shrimp it was hardly any food. That is outrageous. And on top of that the potatoes had basically no flavor. All the cheese was layered on top covered with a bunch of bread crumbs. The server was okay I suppose. Professional but not personable you're not listening before she jumped in and started assuming where we were going. She seemed to be very irritated that we were asking a couple of questions. And walked away not even really waiting for us to reply when she answered. I don't think we're going to be back. It truly is sad because this was always one of our favorite places to go for a nicer meal out. He wanted to make it up to me... he sent me a very generous gift card that I can use on our next visit to Black Angus. I really was surprised and pleased.... although I wasn't wanting anything. I came to celebrate my 72nd birthday. The last several years have been a financial challenge and the past 4 month my income significantly. I found a gift card and decided I could go for a birthday steak dinner. I shared it was my birthday and ordered conservatively. My husband and i decided to do a date night at black angus last night as we both are foodies and love steak! We decided on the tomahawk dinner for two. It was $131 - a good price for all the, sides and shareable dessert it came with. I will start with our server. Though I can't recall her name, she was very well kept, polite and professional. She let us know that the tomahawks can take a little extra time and also they were quite busy as we came in on a Saturday night at 5pm. That's to be expected. I really appreciated her being upfront and she began to bring out bread and first course items quickly so we had something to graze on while waiting for the main course. We normally have our daughter, so conversation and wait time was more than welcomed for us. The steak and two sides we both ordered arrived after a small wait, and it looked and smelled delicious! We had ordered a medium steak, though it was closer to well-done and garlic butter to go along side. The sides were delightful and everything you would expect. Portions were large and we took at least a whole serving of left overs home. Critiques: the flavor of the steak was underwhelming. For such a highly regarded cut of meat, it was essentially flavorless. I'm not sure if you have to request seasoning if you order the garlic butter with it but even with the butter it had very little flavor. My husband mentioned that precious tomahawks the meat came on the bone and it was a bit surprising it was served off. He joked they could've put another cut of meat next to the bone to sell it as a tomahawk. I will say it was tender but because it was served sliced as well most of the juices had drained from the meat so again, just stripping it of any flavor. Nice presentation just not what you would expect from a steak house. We wound up taking left overs and our cheesecake it comes with home. It's from Cheesecake Factory and I will say it was absolutely delicious. Also, my husband is a first responder and they offer a 15% discount, which we were unaware of prior to, for these emergency personnel. They have signs up for customers to inform them. I really wanted to give 5 stars just the meat brought the rating down. We will absolutely come back to give it another shot down the road however. We arrived around 7 pm and were seated promptly. Ordering started off fine, though two seasonal drinks were unavailable. The experience quickly declined when our server began placing items on the table carelessly--bread, drinks, and even our to-go dessert bag at the end were essentially tossed down. In contrast, another server who brought our appetizers was polite and professional. Food quality was also disappointing. The wagyu dumplings were undercooked in the center, and nothing we received was truly hot--the crab au gratin plate was only warm. Our New York strips lacked a proper sear and appeared grey. Our Caesar salads were initially forgotten, though our server did remove our drinks from the bill to make up for it. Service felt inconsistent. Our server didn't offer steak add-ons as we've experienced on previous visits, and while he seemed capable of being friendly with nearby tables and bar guests, that level of service didn't extend to us. Cleanliness remains an ongoing issue at this location. The booth seating had visible stains, and both silverware and drink glasses appeared dirty. My Tennessee Moscow Mule even had an oily sheen on top. read more

It must just be their personal preference because everyone that I've ever been with to the Puyallup location has thought it was AMAZING, including me. The staff there are wonderful and they will work to make things right if you are not happy, (unless it's obvious that you are just a complaining jerk). They have the best Happy Hour offers in the area also. Their Prime Rib is terrific and a 'must try' is the Wedge Salad. We went to black angus on Monday night for our wedding anniversary. We received the absolute worst service you could possibly imagine. The waitress was unprepared so we had to wait, no apologies were given. The filet mignon was very rare. We asked for medium rare. The top sirloin steak was very tough. This was my favorite restaurant to go to not anymore! I don't know if we had terrible service because we are older and she probably didn't think we could afford to tip her, or she just didn't care. She never asked if the meal was ok and didn't ask why we didn't eat the steaks. Maybe everyone was exhausted after the holidays or something. When we arrived, we were greeted by two hostesses and seated right away at the first booth by the entrance, across from the bar.
