Let's start with the negative... the speakeasy is cool looking but if you sit in the main restaurant area where we had to sit because there was no room in the speakeasy..... pffffff the space and decor felt so cheap with fake flowers everywhere and soooo uninviting. Not what you would expect or hope for in a restaurant with these prices.... Ambiance and vibes are a huge part when you go to a nice restaurant. With the speakeasy theme I can't believe they didn't go with more of a library, big furniture and lots of wood and dark tones vibe.. Classy and jazzy feel. It was so bad that we were tempted to leave. Please please consider redesigning the big space. Now the positive. We ended up stayed and were all glad we did. We came here for the first time for drinks and small plates. There was a birthday party, but it was still not that bad of a crowd for five employees and the kitchen staff. We were sat, no water was brought to our table for about ten minutes. Then finally the water arrived and we placed our drink order. That was the last we saw of the employees. Two of them constantly looking at the computer, two ladies talking behind the bar, and one girl catering to the party. I don't think they can handle being in business. Someone needs to teach them how to run a bar and restaurant. I don't recommend this place and I am not planning on ever giving them any business! read more

Decided to try this new place in Puyallup. It's in the old Mexican restaurant location off 120Th and Meridian. Its remodeling is done well and has that fun speakeasy vibe. The day we went they were have a few issues but the food like the Apple Cider brined Airline chicken and Pork Chop. As dishes go they were good but could use some improvement as the carrots needed to be cooked more but the glaze was good as were the potatoes. The dessert Empanadas (apple) are yummy with e caramel sauce. The Strawberry Shortcake can use a little work. Service was very good and both owners were doing table touches and waiting on customers. Overall great service. Ok a 5 rating with this review you ask, yes. It's a new place and things happen. So we will be back. read more

I was extremely excited to try this new "speakeasy" that I heard about in Puyallup. In my mind it was gonna be dimly lit, old school, classy dark-colored furniture, easy listening jazzy music playing softly in the background and a warm ambiance that was inviting, once you stepped in. That's what I picture when I hear speakeasy. A very intimate setting. However, this was completely opposite. It was bright, with a mishmash of decor. I wasn't sure if there was a theme. There were fake plants and a column/pillar with mirrors on it, an Amazon Forrest mural on the wall with televisions up on a couple. Felt like a sports bar. The tables and chairs were your average styled booths, that light-colored wood. It was sooooo cold inside. When we walked in, we were greeted by a nice young lady. She seemed to have a puzzled look on her face as to why we were there. My husband stated we had reservations. So now we were seated. Time to order. Looking over the menu, I see the pricing and was like "ok, a lil higher priced type of menu" I was down to give it a try. We ordered the calamari and zucchini chips for apps and then the butternut squash risotto with scallops (approx $30) for me and the brined chicken ($28) for my husband as well as a side of broccolini ($14). The apps came out first and I was honestly shocked. The calamari were so tiny and the zucchini looked like what they would serve in a bowling alley. Both dishes had the "mama lil's peppers" in it. I'm okay with the portion size but how are you charging $20 for calamari and $14 for the zucchini? Then we received our entrees. Again, we were looking for an elevated dining experience with the pricing of the food, to include presentation and all. I was disappointed to see the cheap cafeteria-like silverware and dish ware it was served on. Now understand the food was good. Not OMG WE ARE COMING BACK kinda good. But mid. Nothing wrong with that but the way they advertise is as if you are about to have a romantic, chill and classy dining experience. It's okay to be mid tier. I won't be mad about it. My dish was not butternut squash risotto, it was a mushroom risotto with 4 mid sized scallops. My husband's chicken was nicely seasoned and flavored and the mashed potatoes it came with, delish. He had caramelized carrots but some were straight black. Maybe a bit much heat. The broccolini was drowning in a cream sauce with onions and mama lil's peppers, slightly overcooked. Needless to say, it wasn't the dinner I was expecting, especially paying almost $200 for it. We did have a couple drinks and those were good. Customer service was on point. The staff were accommodating and helpful. I would kinda expect that since there were only us and another table in the dining room area. I had high hopes but sadly, not the vibe I was looking for. I've been to a fair share of a lil more upscale restaurants and this didn't hit that point for me personally. I think with lower prices and refraining from calling it a speakeasy, it could do well. They offer several scratch made cocktails, I really enjoyed their berry basil cocktail... yummy. Prices are comparable to other restaurants in the area, 15.00 for the one I was drinking, but it's served in a large martini glass and definitely has spirit! Went here with my sister for a celebration of my cousin and his wife getting married. Flyer said $10 to get in, we were charged $15. Didn't love that but we paid. Kinda older vibe only had 5 ppl in there not counting everybody who came for my cousins party. but we had fun, waitress's was fast and we ordered food n drinks. My sister had 2 $11 mimosas and a $25 catfish plate. I had water, $18 wing plate, and a $20 chicken and waffle plate. My sister total was $70 mine was $52. We didn't notice until we paid. That's when we both realize we're over charged. The waitress at first said it's taxes and they grat everybody.. then she said the price on the menus were NOT the price the system charges. As in the $11 mimosas were actually $15 in the system and the food is all more expensive in the system too.. And the owners response " it's only a few dollars why y'all tripping"? We really wanted to like this place. We are all for a place that isn't a chain. We paid $18 for 5 stuffed mushrooms. They were ok but not flavorful. I like an appetizer that gets me excited for my meal. We waited a long time for our meal. My Cajun Seafood Pasta came out first. Our server wanted me to be very careful because the plate was hot. The plate was warm and my food was warm not hot. Again the flavor didn't pop. It took another 5 minutes before my husband's Cider Brinded Chicken came out. He was hot and quite flavorful. The attempt to create a speakeasy falls short by the lack of ambiance, underdressed staff, unkept areas and overpriced drinks when considering the location and whiskey offerings. You cannot ask a guest to pay an upscale restaurant cost of $28 for a drink (especially considering it's made with whistlepig 10-retailing for around $80). ‍. If they work on creating a higher end liquor collection, change the attire of staff, tweak the lighting in the back room and organize/remove some of the supplies visible by guests this could become a cool, hip little place. read more

Welcoming environment! It was empty to start as we arrived upon opening hours at 4pm. We had a choice of seating in the restaurant. The hostess/waiter seated us and shared the daily cocktail menu. We were greeted by one of the owners as well and proceeded to order. We tried the signature pineapple infused margarita, this delivered nicely with a choice of salt, tajin or sugar. My girlfriend and I chose this spot for our Valentine's Day dinner, and it completely exceeded our expectations. We started with two of the Valentine's specialty cocktails. It was a thick cut, perfectly cooked, and incredibly tender. The sauce complemented it beautifully, the carrots were crisp with just the right glaze, and the mashed potatoes were rich and comforting. Every element on the plate worked together. I ordered the root beer glazed pork loin, and it was outstanding. Another thick cut, cooked evenly all the way through with a perfect bark on the outside. The flavor was bold without being overpowering, and every bite was as good as the first. I swapped my sides for the potatoes au gratin. They could have been just a touch creamier for my personal preference, but they were still very good and paired nicely with the pork. We truly thought we were too full for dessert. Our server mentioned the three specials, and when he said "fried lemon pound cake," we were sold instantly. It was unbelievable. The combination of the warm, crisp exterior with the soft cake inside, the ice cream, house made caramel, and fresh fruit was absolutely phenomenal. It was one of those desserts that makes you stop talking after the first bite. Nearby tables noticed and asked us about it, and after we raved about it, they ordered it too.
