Our experience was plagued by a filthy carpet and one irate, yelling man, that Hannah handled professionally, while the management stood by. Was visiting Beaumont for the first time ever with my bestie, and someone in our hotel mentioned this place was worth checking out. I really wanted breakfast for dinner just because - so we excitedly decided to check this place out. The waitress was great! And thats literally the only positive thing about this place to be completely honest. The food made us sick / we threw up later that evening and had to frequent the bathroom many times the next day. Food was either raw and uncooked or burnt. There was no in between. I was so disgusted with my meal that i didn't even eat it, not to mention I had to wait 15 min to even get the rest of my food out (I was brought part of my order). I came here for my aunts birthday. She loves this place. The menu is very extensive. There are so many choices to choose from. My food was good. I'm used to the meats being on the inside of my omelette rather than the outside. The red potatoes were absolutely delicious. We left Louisiana early this morning heading towards Texas. I have never been there before and we were looking for a place to eat. We stopped at Beaumont and found the Black Bear Cafe. Looks like it just reopened and is right off I-10 and adjacent to a gas station. (IFIOY) I found it on Yelp! They serve everything all day so we opted for our favorite breakfast omelette. It was a Denver loaded with southern ham, cheese and veggies. It came with grits, but it wasn't a cup, a giant bowl! Dave got a giant biscuit and I got a pancake that was the size of a dinner plate! lol! It wasn't for me, but for him lol! The coffee was fresh and out of this world and I had two giant cups and sloshed all the way back to the RV lol! Our waitress Sam was excellent and everyone was wearing a mask. There were plexiglass partitions between booths. Looks like we won't have to eat again until tonight and that's good bc we have a long ride ahead of us! read more

I had wanted take out for Fish and Chips. I didn't order on line since it was 5 o'clock and there was an accident on the freeway. After seating 4 or 5 preferred families they asked if I had been taken care of - no I replied. I then ordered Fish and chips. I sat there benched waiting. The man in front of me at the counter finished his meal paid and left. The other 20 guests had their meals. I asked what was going on since I was there for over half an hour and Fish and Chips with sides (they forgot the fries) is a fast fry and good bye. Oh here it is sitting under hot lights. Came to Beaumont this past Saturday to do some work at my brothers house and decided to stop and have breakfast with my son and two of my grandsons, here at the Black Bear Diner, hard to move after a breakfast like that, the food was great. I told our waitress I would be back so, Sunday morning with two of my daughters in tow, my son-in-law and one of my granddaughters we mobbed it one more time and we also got our same waitress. I can't remember when I have had such great tasty food. You would think that an egg, bacon & potatoes would all be about the same in taste at any place would eat, WRONG, this food has its own unique & wonderful taste and if you leave hungry it's your own fault. If you have never seen pancakes the size of hub caps, just order them, you will. Everyone agreed that this food would be hard to beat, Black Bear you out done yourself so keep up the great work. Service is good (not great- but I am very picky about a server coming to my table and leaving dirty dishes over and over when they're stacked to the side and not taking them til they're asked) (I'm aso very picky about not having to ask for drink refills, especially when they walk right up to your table and it's obvious everyone at the table is empty) That being said, food is good. Sweet cream pancakes were delicious and GINORMOUS!! My teenage sons killed breakfast! One had the chicken fried steak, two eggs, hashbrowns, and pancake!! The other had the bear breakfast and was super happy with bacon, eggs, and 2 monster pancakes!! More than enough food! Coffee wasn't bad either! Dinner was good as well!
