Never disappointed with the food at s black bear, this particular location has awesome service.

We got to the draper location and ordered at 7:40pm. When we ordered they told me that they were out of pot roast, which is exactly what I was going to order. We waited for exactly 1 hour after we ordered our food to get it. It was a Wednesday night and it wasn't even close to busy. When we saw our food being finished I watched them pour out my vegetables out of a little microwaveable bag onto my plate. Then my chicken fried steak was purple inside (I don't know why or how) and cold on the outside and burning on the inside. Not good, I would have rather gotten fast food honestly. Usually I am very pleased with the service and food from black bear. I am a frequent customer. I was extremely disappointed and do not know when I will next return now. The staff seemed to not care that we waited for an hour or I would have asked or a discount. I have never been so disappointed with service at a restaurant ever. However if I ever were to return, it would not be to this location. read more

How to start,,,??? The food: OK. ..., Small portions, average taste. not to happy over all. Service: This is a first for me people, he was not happy with the way we ordered! He actually got upset and coped an attitude with my wife and I. My wife suggested that maybe there was some kind of a misunderstanding. Then we watched him get even worse with the table next to us. We talked to two different managers, the first one said "I'm sorry that you didn't like it" then shut up and slowly walked off to help the people behind us. The second one said: "I'm sorry, we don't like to hear that. I don't know how this could have happened. Im sorry that happened". Will someone please tell my why they even asked us, "How was everything?" Why bother? So, No to the food and No to the service. When you think about what's going on when you go out to eat someplace, you want just a few basic things, the most important of which is good food and a respectful (kind, polite etc.) servers. Are you kidding me? Connie at the Black Bear Diner in Draper is the Bomb! Gave us the best service we've had in a long time, just a small thing but asked us if we need more gravy for the biscuits and gravy we ordered,, "ah well? as we looked at our plate in wonder" Nope we said we're good. Gee is was so nice just to be asked that and the food there has always been good never a bad meal and lots of it, it's not hard to get your fill. Connie however is way and beyond over the top of the food she told us about the good bacon, brought me a sample drink of soda she mixed up herself cause I wanted Diet Coke but they only have Diet Pepsi or Diet Dr. Pepper but at least she tried to help me drink something I liked instead of just throw my thirst out the window. Connie was like Family from the get go, seemed like we had known her from somewhere else she was so perfectly balanced in her efforts to make us comfortable and enjoy our meal. Horrible service and even worse food. Fish was frozen solid in the middle. Would have wanted a new meal but didn't have another hour and a half to wait for the food again. Nobody was in the restaurant and I guess that should have been a sign. read more

I'm giving this location 3 1/2-4 stars. Black bear diner is like our favorite restaurant because the food is SO good. I always get The Grizz and my hubby the meat lovers omelet. Last night however sucked. Either they got a new chef or he all of a sudden decided to not care and be super rushed, I don't know. My 2 pancakes were batter in the middle, my husband's omelet was so small when Its normally huge, his country potatoes weren't cooked & my over easy eggs were on the side of not being done so I stopped eating them. The waiter Ben was nice and accommodating to hear our complaints- I HATE being people that complain about there food. He replaced all the bad food with new cooked food. And also threw in a pie- so I felt it was fixed and made right. We had a large party of 10 and a baby so it took our food 40-50 mins to get out to us, me and my husband's being the last. I'm pretty sure they were under staffed for a Thursday with so many big parties coming in. It showed in our food anyway. I hope they can find some better cooks or train the ones they have better. I love this restaurant so I will continue to go here. :) read more

Tracy was our server, she was friendly and courteous. Service was fast and friendly. The was a wait which was a bit odd since there were multiple tables open. I am guessing they did not have enough staff to service them all. Food was good and well prepared. We will go back again. read more

We've been to a couple of different locations and have always had a nice experience. The Draper location, I must say, has the sweetest hostess, Quincy. Service was horrible! I can't even rate the food because I never got my order. After I was seated 10 minutes passed before a waitress even talked to me. She took my order and then 15-20 min later she comes over and says "the cooks forgot your order so you can either wait or leave." So I left. As I was pulling out a manager did come out to talk to me to try to get me to come back in and offered a free meal but I won't be returning here ever after such horrible service. read more

The signs were ominous. We should've walked before ordering. The waitress said that the food would be coming late because the cooks had walked out and the manager was doing the cooking. I suggested they pay the cooks better, LOL. Well, The short of it is my coworker puked his guts out and I ate a mushy bland piece of trout that I wish I would've thrown up. Sooo dissatisfied I love this chain food is always good but today the service was terrible I've seen other reviews that confirm that as well DO NOT COME HERE! Go to the sandy location so much better. We waited 10 min before our server came and we only saw her once the entire time. We had no refills and I had to walk back to ask for our check. The service is always top notch, the food is fresh, and they play great music. What more could you want from a diner?

First off I didn't have an issue with seating we were seated very fast. Secondly we had a very nice and awesome server. But when we ordered food it took an hour and they over cooked my steak and they burned my fiancée burger so we were understanding and just asked for it to be replaced so they did it took another hour and they still over cooked my steak. By then we had to leave but the other issue which is what I'm really mad at is we asked for ranch and we got it and it had bacon in it which was never told to us. My fiancée is allergic so she got super sick and we left. About an hour later I called in to tell them and they said "it clearly states it on the menu as bacon ranch". And I told them we didn't read it off the menu we just asked if they had ranch. She said it was our fault so honestly I will never go back and this place should be closed ruined our food and got us sick I called to simply tell them they should tell people that there is bacon in the ranch and the manager snapped at me. read more

I've been to several black bear locations and the Draper one is pretty disappointing. My boyfriend and I have given this location several chances and each time something goes wrong. The first time I ordered a bacon cheese burger and after a few bites I noticed it had no bacon. We also had to remind them they forgot our toast. Normally these are pretty minor offenses but we were literally the only table in the restaurant so it was kind of annoying that a simple order couldn't be handled efficiently. The next time we went there with some friends and it was pretty busy so it took almost 40 minutes to be seated. Our waiter was friendly. However, when the food came out ALL of it was cold. Again they forgot some toast... After reminding our server about it the toast came out very burnt and inedible. Lastly, we hardly got refills on our drinks. Overall it was just disappointing that our orders were messed up and the food cold. I don't want to spend decent money on service and food that is mediocre. read more

What a mess!! went on a Monday night for dinner I think the whole crew just started that morning unorganized mess.

I was hoping to grab a quick lunch at the Black Bear Diner while on business travel. I ordered a cup of clam chowder and a Caesar salad with grilled chicken. The chowder came out quickly enough, but was lukewarm, and I like it hot. It was somewhat tasty, but I wouldn't order it there again as it was just mediocre. Here is the kicker - after about 15 minutes my server (Ally) said "it will be ready soon", and I thanked her not knowing this was ploy to string me along. After ANOTHER 15-20 minutes went by and she was busy serving a large party of people (sorry, I don't care I'm important too) I asked her to give me a check for what I had consumed so far, the drink and chowder. She said again "it will be ready soon", at which time I replied, "that's what you said 20 minutes ago". And she then went on to say it was sitting there on the counter and it would be right out. And it was - she brought it out immediately - and it was a good salad - but why should I have to wait 40 minutes for a salad? And if it was right there she could have brought it out and I probably wouldn't have written this review. There are so many other choices in the Draper/Sandy area and I'm a frequent traveler to this location and I always share my views with my colleagues. This lack of attention will certainly cost you business. read more
