Went for breakfast on Monday morning and there was no wait to be seated. Our server, Nicole was on top of things. We got our coffee and drinks really quick. The portions were huge! I ordered the ScramBowl and i loved the spice of the pickled jalapeños. Hubby had the chicken fried steak and eggs, he really enjoyed the steak and the eggs were cooked just the way he wanted. My son had a hot chocolate with his breakfast and it was overflowing with whipped cream and chocolate, yum! Would definitely stop here again on a weekday morning when the crowds are low! read more

Today, our family took a break from moving to go find a bite to eat. I know, who moves during Christmas?! To our surprise, we found the Black Bear Diner was open. Not only were they open on Christmas, they were PACKED. However, the Manager, Lee, and his team were doing an incredible job coordinating and getting people seated and served as cordially and efficiently as possible. When our party was seated, I was surprised at the outstanding service. Our server, Bryson, was kind, funny, and personable. I could see he had many tables, yet he both kept up, and brought a delightful energy to every table he served. Then we got our food and it was OUTSTANDING! These guys know how to do food right! Our meals were perfectly cooked (a pleasant surprise with a restaurant this busy). Later, we ended up ordering pie to go, and it was fantastic. (Note to fellow pie lovers: Their crust is exceptional). Not only would I highly recommend this restaurant, I would like to thank the staff for taking the time out of their lives to serve others on Christmas Day. I have eaten at black Bear before but this is my favorite. The food was delicious. But our server Bridgers was the best waiter I have had the pleasure to be served by. I was a waitress for 7 1/2 years. I have never seen or had a server who not only did an awesome job, but no matter how busy it was (and it was busy) he never lost his smile. You could tell he loved were he worked but also the Job itself. He took 4 grumpy travelers and made their day. read more

We pointed it out and the hostess was rude, indifferent and not accommodating. She didn't apologize and literally refused to put two tables together. Incredible food tasted amazing went there twice in a row for breakfast and lunch and it was yummy both times, also service was excellent the waitress actually saved us money on our order and got us more bang for our buck (more food for less cost) super nice and was great on our drinks and with asking how the food was etc. read more

We ordered a Ruben sandwich & soup and I had a turkey pesto sandwich with slaw. His Ruben was burnt to the point where you couldn't tell it was a marble rye bread on top, and the bottom so soggy that is almost fell apart. For my sandwich, I had requested no lettuce and to add cucumbers. The sandwich came without lettuce, but also without pesto, cucumbers, or tomatoes. They did bring out a bowl of cucumbers that I could put on the sandwich myself after. This all took a little over 40 minutes. The waitress Dean, was very pushy and rude. She would ask a question and begin to walk away before she herself, had even finished asking it let alone us being able to respond. Over priced for us having to wait for terrible service and terrible food. Will never return. read more

Went here tonight and was extremely annoyed and disappointed. The service here is TERRIBLE. We showed up around 6:30 and there were at least 10 empty tables that just needed to be cleaned. We were the only ones waiting to be seated and it took at least 40-45 min to even be seated!! During that time no one else came in and the tables sat there dirty. It was not at all busy in the back either so I'm not sure what was going on. And our orange juice was warm. I would've given one star but gave it an additional star because the food was great. My husband and I are huge black bear fans and normally go to the one in sandy which is a lot busier and the service is way better. Will not be returning to this location!! read more

Good breakfast. Mediocre dinner & desert, though. They did an excellent huevos rancheros, and even left off the chorizo when I asked, and the country potatoes were unusually good. Worst Customer Service EVER! Better not come here if you have more than 4 people. We have eaten at several other locations and had wonderful experiences. This locations manager is the worst! We came with a party of 6 with 9 empty tables. We asked for a time quote and were told let me take a look and I'll get you a quote, she looked around and came back, no estimate. She then proceeded to seat 5 other parties that came in after us, with no explanation to is. When we asked if they could put 2 tables together we were told yes we can but ...she never gave us a clear answer why she wasn't doing it. read more

This was our first visit to this location. Food and service was awesome. There wasn't a wait for a table, we got our drinks and our orders taken promptly. Well for starters I've definitely been to better Black Bear DIner's. I recently tried this location and was far from impressed. The wait for a table alone was horrific and not because there was a long line; but because there was not enough staff to seat us. We had to wait over an hour just to sit down, other customers who came got tired of the wait and left. The food was edible however, it wasn't worth the money I paid for it. It was a waste of money and time for me and my family. While this location wasn't at all a pleasant experience, other locations I've been to have been a lot better. If you're going to try the Black Bear Diner try going to one in Nevada, it's much better! read more

Holy terrible service. We didn't even get to the point where we were seated & ordering. They quoted us 20 minutes for our party of 13 to be seated & the whole restaurant was less than 1/2 full. We said we'd be happy to split up our party between tables (as it was very obvious that would work best & there was an 8 top and 2 four tops next to each other, again they told us to wait. 40 minutes later after watching diners be seated, eat and leave we asked (for the 4th time) if we could just be split up & eat near each other. They said hold on a second and then the host completely disappeared. We left. Sadly, we will not be back. Ever. read more

Absolutely horrid experience. Disgusting food. My daughter ordered a kids mac and cheese and apple slices. The apple looked like it had been cut the day before, and the lukewarm kraft mac and cheese was all stuck together. I ordered soup, which was watery and flavorless. Everything about this place is amazing. The menu has a wide selection of different foods, the service is always prompt and they have the best chocolate lava cake. Sad experience today. We walked in with no obvious customers waiting so I figured it would be a short wait to be seated. My companion went to the restroom while I would get us seated. No one came to greet me or even say welcome until my companion was coming back to the front. When I was approached nothing was said except "how many" and when she started to lead us to the booth, a coworker stopped her and told her no booths Nothing was said to us and already having waited longer than normal to even be greeted, we walked out. Even as we left, nothing was said. No apologies nothing. We won't be going back to this location ever. Laura at the Draper location is a GEM! By far what's going to make this our go to! Good service is somewhat easy to come by. But excellent service that makes you actually enjoy going somewhere is hard. The food is great. But since having Laura serve us, made our daughter at ease and actually talk to her. The place looks very nice the decor is fine. The staff is very nice and fast for how busy it was. I ordered french toast sausage and eggs. The saysage was one if the best sausages I have had in a while. The eggs were not the best. The french toast was just not good. It would have been good if I was eating it cooked but I was really just eating the french taost batter. I would recommend their pancakes if you decide to go. read more

Black Bear Diner down in Draper was such a great lunch experience that I had to log in and leave a review! I had above and beyond service from a really friendly server named Bridger who not only took care of me but I noticed he made every other diner in his section feel like his only customers. I take service seriously and the staff here did not disappoint. Would leave 12/5 stars if I could and a special shoutout to Bridger, you da real MVP! Unlike many of the other reviews we did not have a very long wait. Came here at about 10:30am on a Saturday and waited maybe 10-15 minutes for a party of four. The issue wasn't the wait time but instead the quality of service and quality of food. The waitress was new (which she stated about four times) and we were very understanding, but even for being new did not know anything about the menu or what came with what. Once the struggle to order our food was over it came out pretty quickly, we'll most of it did. The waitress forgot the biscuits and gravy and when I stopped her to ask she responded with, "I was wondering whose those were". Once the biscuits and gravy came to the table they were cold. Overall the food was IHOP quality food with much higher prices, I am not impressed and will not be going back anytime in the near future. Also one glass of orange juice cost $4.50, that seems to be the real way they make money during breakfast time, everything else is normal prices. read more

Horrible experience! Wait 15 min to get our water! Waitress then says they are busy! We order. While we are waiting for our food the group at a table by us are very unhappy, with the food and service! 30 minutes go by! There is another table that sat down after us and they get their food. We get another waitresses attention to say we are still waiting! 45 minutes go by. Then another person comes out and apologises that they have not even started our food! Our family loves Black Bear! We took out 1 year old grandson there tonight and our waitress Ally was great with him brought his food put first cause she could see he was getting impatient. Played with him and was generally super good to us. She kept us taken care of with coffee and drink refills. She has waited on us before and does a great job. Received my food it was ice cold, Didn't even receive all of our food asked for extra dressing on my salad didn't receive it one of our parties didn't even get food because the server wrote down the wrong thing. One of the other servers had to take care of us because our server never even checked on us. She threw the bill on the table and walked away. When we walked out she was hiding.
