I wanted something quick and this looked good. It's a small place right near the Canal St. subway station off the E line. There's some seating inside and outside. After ordering a single smash burger with an egg, I didn't have to wait long for my order to arrive. The food was slightly disappointing in my opinion. The taste wasn't bad. The bun was nicely toasted and the grilled onions were sweet. The meat was thin and dry. The egg wasn't runny but after thinking about it, I realized the menu never specified if it was runny or not. I had just assumed. The cheese melted well and added extra flavor. The special sauce tasted similar to thousand island dressing. Ultimately, it tasted like a better Big Mac from MacDonalds. This place has clearly lost its touch. I stopped by on 4/20/26 with my Mom. We both ordered a turkey burger. We told the cook to make sure he seasons the patty...which of course we shouldn't have to do because that's something they should already be doing. However after running the NYC Half Marathon earlier in the day, I decided to mix things up and check out Black Burger since it was located really close to where I was staying. It was a really small place. A little more than half of the restaurant was the kitchen. On the customer side of the counter there were some counter spots for you to eat your burger, but not enough for more than a few people. I wasn't feeling particularly hungry, so when it was my turn, I ordered just their Black Burger with cheese, cooked medium without any sides. I got the burger with their standard ingredients... lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, and house sauce. Keep in mind that they'll give you a discount if pay with cash. I hardly ever carry cash these days, so plastic it is! Once my order was up, I took it back to my room to eat. The single patty burger didn't look very impressive, but it did taste good. Also the bun didn't disintegrate while I was eating it. If I do come back here, I'll probably get a double cheeseburger or one of their specialty burgers. read more

If I had dropped a tip in the jar after my order, I would have taken it back after my order arrived. The two guys that look exactly alike, brothers I'm told are about the most unprofessional pair of cackling hyenas I've ever endured, these two momo's are cooking and working directly in front of the customers behaving like that. Not one single word in English was used at any point during my time inside, I couldn't wait to get out of there and I should have -- right then and there. At no point did they stop the incessant and ear piercing offensive loudness of yelling and the counter girl and the box folder gladly joined in, modulating the other to sacrificial levels. Horrible behavior --- that is, anywhere in the civilized world. Now --- I could care less about the certified beef you use and tracking the meat all the way to the moon and back or wherever it began. Who really cares when your so poorly treated, why would I care? The beef in the Double Black Burger was far from special, or even average, indicating to me that what they sell may be different from what they promote. And the cast of misfits really puts an emphasis on even the smaller, seemingly inconsquential problems. Eg1: unclean floors, torn seat covers, cheap napkins, gummy floors, sticky counter, slimy sauce bottles, you get the point. The cheap bun fell apart in a moment upon any contact with any of the other parts, wet bun, wet lettuce wet burger, wet foil. This place is all wet and would never be a consideration again. Yet -- The title of Worst Burger and Worst Staff? Well --- that's too easy... Its this dump, and I can't wait to move that information down the Yelp line to all my buddies in forewarning. read more

This is a small burger place in LES Manhattan. There are very few places to sit, but the seating at the window offers a good spot for people watching while enjoying your burger. The food is so delicious too! I'm not a vegetarian yet, but I do try to limit my meat consumption, especially red meat. I tried the Veggie-licious Mexicali sandwich complete with bacon but with a veggie patty instead of beef. This burger was absolutely amazing! I definitely recommend trying it with the veggie patty! Also, their house sauce tastes great with the curly fries! Everything was freshly made to order. I saw black burger and went in and was very surprised by the quality of the burger. The room itself is very small and only seats about 8 to 10 people total. it was a smaller Burger as far as burgers go so to be safe I ordered the double cheeseburger with bacon. It was just the right amount but a single Patty definitely would have been too small. The ingredients were fresh and although I'm not a big bread fan the bun was quality. they do have their own brand of root beer which I regret not trying since I am a root beer loving person. They do not offer a restroom to the public so I was not able to review that. all in all I would say it was a good experience and would encourage you to stop by however if you're hungry order two burgers or the double cheeseburger. They were very generous with the fries but I thought the fries were a little overcooked and too crunchy. I'm more of a soggy french fry person. Would I go back? Yes. What I order the fries again probably not. My rating system consists of a 3-star being exactly what you expected and neither good nor bad. One black burger with cheese, lettuce, and tomato $5.99 was perfectly cooked medium without any dryness but abundant flavor. I desired red onions on my burger. The bun was plain and boring supermarket mass produced and purchased cheaply. My predilection is either brioche bread or sourdough bread. One bottle water $2.49 was surely overpriced indeed. Customer service is average but efficient without the ignore or apathetic cavalier attitude that I have grown so accustomed and intolerable. Since most people including myself get sick of eating the same thing all the time near the job. Come in with fast food expectations and not restaurant expectations and you won't be disappointed; it just costs more than your McDonalds and Burger Kings. Their sodas are self service for refills and they cant seat much people if you are thinking about the dine in experience.
