Delicious bagels! During my trip to NY this was my go-to breakfast spot. I've gotten the everything bagel with lox spread and jalapeno (actual pieces of jalapeno in the cream cheese). I've also gotten the tuna on everything bagel and it was so really good. Very generous portions - I was able to enjoy half and save the other half for later. They assemble your bagel quickly - less than 10 mins for wait even when it seems busy. They have limited outdoor seating but a great view of New York and people. Only thing I wasn't a fan of was the coffee; it tasted watered down and flavorless. Wouldn't be my go to place for coffee but the bagels are great! read more

Needed a quick bite to eat between the 9/11 memorial and Battery Park. Ran into this place that sold pizza by the slice so I decided to try it out. They used pretty fresh ingredients and the slices came out with a nice crisp crust. They only have outside seating which was fine that day due to the great weather. While sitting in Zuccotti park, I saw this place, decided to check the menu and when I saw a Porchetta sandwich, I stopped in. The meat is loaded on, very tasty and the salsa verde was bright with a bit of a kick however the disappointing part was that the skin was not crispy which would've provided a great crunch. In the city for business and wanted to find a place that was quick, but not fast food - this place delivered. They have paninis that use schiacciata bread instead of focaccia - similar but thinner and less sponge like. They are pre-made waiting in the case and ready to be heated just for YOU . I got the Turkey and it was delicious. They also had a carrot pound cake which I just HAD to grab a slice of. It was dense and moist which I loved, but lacked a bit of flavor for my taste - I prefer a little cinnamon and nutmeg in mine. Overall a superb choice and a much better alternative to the Burger King next door, in my opinion. It's also reasonably priced as I was actually expecting to pay more. For a decent size half panini it was only $8... However the slice of carrot pound cake was $3.50. The verdict... I'd definitely go again. read more

Great spot to stop in to grab food on the go. It's located in the financial district and sidewalks are bustling with tourists and professionals. The hubs and I were going to the 9/11 memorial & museum and we wanted something quick and easy. Sometimes the best eateries are the ones with long lines or it's just overhyped. In this case the turnover rate of food, and packed shop just means it's fresh and fast. We both split up upon entry, so I was ordering pizza on one side of the eatery and the hubs ordered a porchetta sandwich on seeded ciabatta on the other side. The employees were quick on taking orders and placing slices in the oven to heat up. The pizzas ended up being lukewarm since the shop was packed and they needed to service the next customer. Prices are reasonable to NY standards. Sandwiches tend to be around $15 and up in this location. We both carried our food to the seating area across the street. Here you can people watch, see the abnormally mutant size NY pigeons that eat anything and enjoy your meal. The pizza was okay and just standard, it was the sandwich that was the star of the show. The toasted seeded ciabatta was pressed which showcased some grill marks. The chimichurri sauce dressed on the inside of the bread gave a taste of garlic, Chile, oregano, parley and oregano. It married wonderful with the fresh tender moist fall off the bone pork roast. We would order this again in a heart beat. Would come back again. :) read more

Be very careful! I first told the guy behind the counter we would like to order but first need to use the restroom. He then said we first need to order before he will give us the door's code. Then when I told him our order will get cold that is why we need to use the toilet first.Then we went back to order, was told after we put in the order, that they only take cash. We then discovered they charged us extra for tomato ($1.50) and lettuce ($1.50) for each bagel- they did not mention this when they asked us if we wanted tomato and lettuce. They don't trust the customer with the code, because you can not trust the staff working there. They are very sneaky.Taste of bagel ok, but there are many restaurants/ food trucks where you will find more choice for less. Will not visit again. read more

While visiting NYC I came across Lazzaro and saw they had pitaya bowls. Immediately yes! Got the Pitaya bowl with banana, granola, honey and added PB. Was super excited to dive into it but once I did it was an immediate no. The Pitaya was chunky, not blended enough and also tasted like freezer burn but watered down all at the same time. The service was great and the atmosphere was cool. There's only one table downstairs. I didn't venture upstairs. Quite a few tables on the street. I tried eating at least half the bowl but just couldn't. A waste of $15 just for some PB and bananas. I guess I'm spoiled by real Pitaya and acai bowls from Hawaii. read more

Walking around while in town and was literally the only place still open which was great. Had a white slice and classic cheese slice. It was good at hit the spot since I was traveling all day. Downtown doesn't have as many places to eat as the rest of nyc especially this area. Lazzaro's is one of those places you would have to look for to find it. It is up the street from the World Trade Center but discretely hidden next to a Burger King. It looked nice enough and had a bunch of options. This is one of those places that has the sandwiches premade in the case and you can pick from a bunch of different sandwiches. Premade sandwiches usually worry me but I was hungry so I gave it a shot. The muffalatta type sandwich caught my eye. It was ridiculously good and wasn't too salty even though it had all sorts of italian cold cuts on it. The vinegary olive spread balanced the sandwich well. I also tried the chicken salad sandwich but it only had chicken salad on it. It needed something more to it. A little freshness would have been nice in the form of a tomato or something. They also have pizza too but Barstool guy gave it a 2.9 which is not a good sign. I didn't try it but maybe next time. We sat outside after ordering and enjoyed the meal. They have a few tables out there since there isn't any sitting room inside. Check it out if you want a quick bite. Not bad at all. read more

The sliced pizza here is pretty darn good. They have two versions of pizza available. First is the traditional slice, second is the "Roman" version. The traditional slice is heated up in an oven right before serving. I like how the bottom gets a crisp crust. This is your traditional New York style thin pizza. The "Roman" version is different. Its served as a square of bread with the toppings on top. PRO-TIP: you can ask for a corner piece if you like. read more

Went for their pizza and regretted it . Neither my mushroom slice nor white slice was very good. The mushroom slice was especially disappointing. Made with the worst sauce ever and huge chunks of undercooked and non complimentary mushrooms. This was one of the worst mushroom slices I've ever had . Both slices were unusually very dry and unsavory would be the best way to describe them . The only thing that I'd say that was good about the slices was the crispy-ness but that's the least of my requirements when it comes to pizza . Since having the porchetta a few more times (Was best on the sliced country Italian bread.. Highlights the flavors of the meat really well) I've enjoyed the meatball sandwich, prime steak, and Hank's pizza too. All 3 hot sandwiches are the best of their kind that I've had in the northeast and possibly the whole USA. Maybe a tad more sauce with the meatballs but otherwise Perfect. While the prime steak and porchetta come with a chimicurri type sauce, it's not needed at all. They're perfect simply seasoned with olive oil, salt and pepper. I've not tried their other offerings only because the hot sandwiches are so good I can't imagine going there and not having one. Even choosing among the 3 is tough though the porchetta usually wins out. The pizza is good but I prefer with a little less cheese. It's a great option if a sandwich is too much to eat. read more

Got a #3 açaí bowl with yogurt and semolina added and it was super yummy --tasted like dessert! I expected the yogurt to be blended in either the açaí but it was instead added on top. This was a delicious sandwich place!' Walked by it and couldn't resist to go in because of how yummy they looked. Wasn't even hungry but got it for later. We heated it up later on in the oven and could taste the delicious olive oil on the bread. We ordered the skinny sandwich which had salami, tomatoes , olive oil, provolone .. not sure what else was on it but just order something and you won't be disappointed. Wow - we stopped by with a group of hungry people The smells from the street were incredible and the food not disappoint.
