    Supreme pizza
    Angelica R.

I enjoyed this place! We had the arancini as an appetizer and it was delish. We had the supreme pizza, which my partner and I both loved! We're pretty picky with pizza, but this passed the test for us. It's in a great area of town if you're on Main Street, and our service was great.

Friday nights in don't mean you can't still support a local gem. I've been wanting to try Black Dog Pizza on Main Street, and a rainy night felt like the perfect excuse. We kept it classic with a traditional cheese and a pepperoni... but the fried pickle pizza was just too interesting not to order. The pepperoni was right up my alley -- those crispy cup pepperonis with a drizzle of hot honey? Absolute perfection. The fried pickle was good and definitely fun to try, though I wish it packed a little more dill and ranch flavor. We'll definitely be back to work our way through more of the menu (and I can already see another pepperoni in my future). If you're looking for a tasty pizza spot in Columbia, add Black Dog Pizza to your list!

This was such a wonderful experience. I met up with my friend here for a nice dinner and I was glad that this was our place of choice. The food had an interesting flavor profile (especially the lamb pizza) and tasted great. Our waitress was consistent with her checkups and was very pleasant. The interior was cozy to say the least. The bar area is visually lacking but the dining spaces were very comfy. The seats were comfy enough for us to get through two hours of talking without any complaints.

We went back and got the chopped salad and I loved it, way better than the Caesar salad imo. We also got 2 pizzas this time, a pepperoni and then also the lamb pizza and OH MY GOD!! The lamb pizza is so amazing. The yogurt sauce and the chili crisps just make it such a unique and delicious experience! Highly recommend giving it a try!! Service is fine and it's nice being able to see them make the pizzas! Makes for a fun experience.

    Fried calamari and Campari cocktail

First time trying this place, I love Pizza so I was very excited. The staff the hostess and the chef were all phenomenal! I ordered the calamari which was exceptional and well seasoned and fried to perfection. The marinara sauce was really good as well. I also ordered the compote cocktail, which was OK, but it was a bit more on the bitter side for my taste, but that can easily be fixed with a little extra blood orange juice. I did a somewhat customized pizza and it's turned out to be so good. I ordered the veggie pizza and added pepperoni and mushrooms and I did the garlic cream sauce instead of the marinara sauce and it was phenomenal. It was cooked. Perfectly crust was nice and crisp. How I like it. The flavors were exceptional. Definitely will be going back here again to try some other pies and menu items. My Sarah Morgan was so sweet and attentive. She really was the best when you go ask for her.

Pizza was really good got it to go as no tables available. Got some Italian beers and espresso martinis while we waited today. Pizza was delicious

Setting is great, doesn't feel cramped but feels homey. Take note of the ceiling.

Got seated at the bar with my cuzzo at Black Dog Pizza on a busy Friday evening. It took a little while to place our order and get our food. I ordered the Margherita pizza--thin, crispy, and really solid overall. The mozzarella and sauce were on point, and the basil took it up a notch. If anything, it could've used a bit more EVOO. We also tried the Italian sandwich. The arugula and heirloom tomatoes were the highlight, but the rest of the ingredients were just okay. The server did get us coffee along with our drinks, which was appreciated. That said, the service could've been better--I don't think customers should have to help by grabbing drinks from the server, and there was a bit of inconsistency when it came to handling leftovers (e.g., when we asked for a box for the sandwich, only the pizza got boxed, so had to ask again).

Let's clear the air: Aside from il Focolare, I've always been a straight up hater when it comes to pizza in Columbia. You go to Charleston, Greenville, Charlotte and they all have excellent old school/new school/slice pizza places. Columbia? Not so much...until now. This is the first pizza place in a long time that doesn't feel catered to college kids. Columbia has that problem sometimes. I got the pepperoni pizza, whipped ricotta, and a glass of house wine ($7). I thought it was really cool you can get slices here and that they have chicken parm/chicken cutlet sandwiches. Everything was absolutely delicious. The whipped ricotta was very light in a great way. The pizza had an excellent char and chew. It's honestly as close to a perfect pizza you can get: A little char, crispy - yet chewy. Cupped pepperonis too? This is a winner. An appetizer, whole pizza, and four glasses of red wine was $68. That's a heck of a cheap date night to me for any sit down restaurant. Local tip! Go before 5:30PM because I'm not sure if they do reservations, but the line was long out the door when I left around 6. I can't wait to go back and get the chicken parm sandwich.

If ur looking for a late night slice...this is it. Columbia has been upping its pizza game over the last year and the recent opening of Black Dog Pizza is a key player. Located in the old Woody's and sharing space in the same building as Hendrix, this spot is a keeper. Slices are available in cheese or pepperoni. Both are pretty good. Crust was well baked and chewy rather than crispy. The cup & char pepperoni was really savory. Service was excellent and the bar area is a really great place to hang out for a drink and a slice. Plenty of booth seating to give it that pizza parlor feel. This is a nice informal cozy date spot that won't break the bank. The only drawback is that the over emits alot of smoke so it sometime seems hazy in the dining area. I didn't.mind it while there but the smell kind of stuck to my clothes and thay was not so nice. Hoping they fix that exhaust at some point.

Hands down the best pizza in the Columbia area. You can tell the employees and pizza chefs are passionate about pizza and have nailed their dough to a tee. It's airy and crispy, almost no flop. Fantastic sauce to cheese ratio. The vibe is a high end pizzeria with both booth and bar seating. Cola Pizza lovers- you don't need to drive to Charlotte or Charleston anymore to get great pizza!

The establishment is is spacious and they have tables both inside and outside and are decked out in USC pride. I can totally see this being a college hangout spot. The menu is never ending and it's soooo hard picking which bagel sandwich sounds best because soooo many sounded good. And then after you pick your sandwich you have to pick your bagel! Do yourself a favor and look at the menu before coming in so you already know exactly what you'll try. Since I came with a friend we decided to to try two different bagels and the staff here were nice enough to cut them both in half to make it easier for us to share. The bagels were messy but you could tell they were freshly made and so good! We ended up sharing the ridgeland and neighborino. I loved them both but I want to say I loved the neighborino a smidge more. While living here this will definitely become a regular spot and prices here were more than fair for the portions and freshness.

Whenever I'm traveling locally I check to see if there is one in my path. We were on our way to Columbia for a trip to the planetarium so we stopped on the way up for Lunch at Sully's. When I first discovered them, they had a sandwich on the menu called The Heater, the last place I went to was familiar with it, but this location was not. That didn't mean they weren't willing to make it for me though. I don't know if I ordered it exactly right, but the woman taking my order and I walked our way through it... the sandwich was delicious either way. This time I also got to try The Griswold (Turkey, bacon, provolone, pepper jack, lettuce, bbq & parm-peppercorn) and it might be a new favorite. This location is bigger than others I've been to. They had a bunch of tables inside and a large communal area outside with turf and a bunch of seating. Someone was even having a birthday party out there. Now I want to have a Sully's Steamers bday party too!

I came in a few minutes after 10:00 a.m., the time they open, and while I don't expect a restaurant to be in tip-top shape the second they open, they did not seem at all ready for the day or to accept customers. I stood at the front for a few awkward moments before asking one of the hostesses if I was supposed to seat myself, when she replied "oh no, I'll seat you", and then led me to one of the nearby tables. Somewhat grossly, the tablecloth on the table I was seated at was covered with coffee stains from previous guests, which was kind of unsettling. I then asked for a cup of coffee, and was told that there wasn't any ready, and that I would need to wait a few minutes. Again, not a huge deal, but I would expect a breakfast restaurant to have some coffee ready by the time that they open. Second, when perusing the menu, I was not particularly impressed by their "limited breakfast" options, nor anything on their regular menu. I decided to go with a simple hot dog, and substituted the offered sides with an order of French fries, which ridiculously cost me almost $4 extra. In addition, my hot dog was fine, but nothing exceptional, and definitely not better than one I could've gotten at Costco for a markedly cheaper price. The one (1) bright spot was that the fries were very good, and of higher quality than most other fries I've gotten at similar restaurants. Finally, my server was nice enough, but a little rough around the edges and not overly attentive. In addition, the ambiance was pretty basic, with nothing about it that really stuck out. All-in-all, I wouldn't be adverse to returning to DiPratos on a Saturday or Sunday to try their breakfast menu, but I won't be coming back during the week, and wouldn't really recommend that anybody else do so either.
