I have tried many things on the menu, now that I have become a somewhat regular, and they seem to do everything just great. Keep up the good work. Food was not that great for a Sunday afternoon. Usually I have had great food here. Help was a bit slow and not attentive. I am sure Saturday night was a big night. BLT was not crispy bacon not enough mayo. Soups definitely spicey. Pub chips were a bit on greasy side. Still been here enough to know most meals have been above par. read more

I have always enjoyed Black Dog Pub. I haven't been there in awhile. Tonight we ordered the thin crust pizza and garlic cheese bread. It pains me to say this but it was awful. We ended up throwing it away. The pizza tasted like the sauce was from a jar and watered down. They completely forgot to put the sausage on it. The crust was so hard we couldn't bite it. The garlic cheese bread was so burnt we couldn't eat it. What a waste of a trip and money. I would not recommend this restaurant read more

Really enjoy the food here. I think they have just about the best breaded mushrooms in the city. Large portion and it's not greasy. Also great chicken tenders. Same thing, big pieces and nice and crispy. Good wings, pizza, calzones, and sandwiches. I have also gotten really good service here. Waitresses are friendly, attentive, and helpful. Unfortunately, it's just a mediocre place to drink. Mixed drinks I've had were pretty average or worse. Beer selection is good, however. I wish there were some good drink specials to match some of the great daily food specials. It's kind of old and worn, booths on the bar side are in disrepair, and the TV's are in awkward spots depending on where you're sitting. But overall it's a place I go to get really good bar food. read more

The beer selection is good but the food is consistently bad - I mean I didn't eat it. The first time, it was the pizza, which was clearly frozen, as I'm sure it tasted of freezer burn, the next time, it was the burger, which was very dry. I didn't try eating a third time, but my friend did, and she thought her burger was terrible. Go for the beer if you want...but take my advice and eat first. read more

This place needs better servers and more of them. Our dinner took TWO hours for a couple of sandwiches and an order of fish and chips. Not only did I get charged for things I never received, I was also charged for cheese and onions on top of a small cup of chili which I would have passed on had I known. I went especially for their breaded tenderloin. It is about the size of a dinner plate! Unless I am convinced different; I'm going to rate it number 1 in Indiana! It had a substantial bun that held up to the end and the homemade chips were good as well. Big fan of the black dog pub in Ft. Wayne. This is always a family go to when trying to find somewhere to eat. They have typical pub fare and a nice craft beer list to choose from. I had the black dog sub yesterday (ham, salami, pepperoni, veggies and ranch) with their house made chips, as well as a 3 floyds space station middle finger APA. All of this was delicious, but really everything on the menu hits the spot, from the spin dip (highly recommend) to the pizza. If you are looking for a quick, cheap meal or looking to unwind a little bit, stop by this joint. They have a family side for those coming in with kids or people under 21 also which is very accommodating. read more

Great experience, tried one of the famous Breaded Tenderloin - it arrived perfect - the topping, the bun was great, but the tenderloin was a show stopper - but today we tried their chips rather than their fries and they belong together - the chips are fresh and well-seasoned. First time here...highly reccomend so we stopped for late lunch. Not overly crowded but it took forever to get out food. My burger was supposed to be med well. It was crunchy on the outside and so dry I almost couldn't swallow it. Black Dog Pub is one of the best bars in Fort Wayne. It has a family dining room too, which is nice for families, especially because the food here is ridiculously good. Their 1/2 price pizza on Monday can't be beat, either. Great drink specials, and one of the best (if not THE best) pizza rolls in the city. The servers and bar tenders are super friendly as well. We went to the Black Dog pug last night for the second time ever. This time we had the pizza, which was fantastic. I'd rate it up there with several others of my favorites. Not the best ever, but definitely unique and good. Drawbacks to the Black dog pub include no where to stand while you are waiting for a table and space. It is a crowded little pub. My wife and I stopped here on a Friday night unplanned. The place was full (which we assume is a good thing). There was no hostess, you had to know you needed to go the bar and request a table. Thanks to the nice patrons who helped us navigate that. The wait wasn't bad other than the fact they don't really have anywhere to wait. Sorry to the couple trying to enjoy their dinner while we waited a few inches away. (Rain prohibited us from going outside to give them space). The server was nice and helpful but slow - still waiting on a drink refill. My wife ordered the tenderloin- it was pretty good. I ordered a calzone- it had potential, but I probably didn't get the right combination of ingredients. Taste of food gets 3 stars and the quantity gets five. It was a good value. Here's what drops them from four stars to three - the iced tea. It was not good. We'd do it again but it isn't at the top of our Fort choices. read more

I'm a big fan of this place. They have a good beer selection. The atmosphere is nice, even when its noisy it's never overwhelming, and I like that they have an outdoor seating area. The pizza (sans cheese) is good. Last time I went I had some veggie wrap thing, and it was the bees knees. read more

Excellent 'Big ass tenderloin.' The size holds true to the name as we were easily able to split the sandwich. My boys, who had never tried a tenderloin sandwich before have asked to make a return trip sooner rather than later. As always, wife wrote this for Facebook friends. Somewhere around 12 years ago my father took Scott and I to the Black Dog Pub on Covington Rd. in Fort Wayne for bar-b-que ribs. During that visit we found the place to be intolerably noisy with several televisions blasting varying sporting events throughout the restaurant, service was just so-so and the too-chewy, fatty, tasteless ribs were not worth the trip. We vowed never to return. However, we've since heard that things had gotten better there so today we gave them the opportunity for redemption. And redeem themselves they did! Before we even reached the door, the aroma of wood-smoked meats greeted our senses and it became more inviting once we were inside. The same televisions were broadcasting sports of all nature but with muted sound, giving patrons the luxury of speaking in normal tones rather than shouting to be heard. We had barely gotten seated when our server appeared tableside to greet us and offer beverages. Although Black Dog offers a vast array of sandwiches, wraps, salads, appetizers and entrees we were already hooked on the idea of something smoked. We decided on a Hawg Wing Basket and a Rib Basket. Each came with an order of fries and a side of slaw. The Hawg Wings are small pork shanks that possess more meat than their tiny bones should be allowed to handle and the ribs came 4 bones to a basket. Both were fall-off-the-bone tender with just enough bar-b-que sauce to enhance their mild smoky goodness and the "wings" displayed that classic hardwood-smoked bark. Needless to say, we were glad to have given this establishment another chance and we suggest that you do the same. We're full, we're happy, and we'll most likely be back. FYI: Full bar service is available. Smoking is prohibited. Children are allowed in the family room. For the heartier appetite, full and half racks of ribs are available in the full entrée section of the menu. read more

Not worth the wait. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon (April 30 about 2) for a burger and rings while running some errands. Crowd was light with three tables and a few people at the bar. Ordered two burgers and a basket of rings. The place started filling up and we waited. Waitress came by the table once, twice, three, four times and said she would check on our order. Finally, after a 40 minute wait the food arrived. Many tables and a large group that came after us were served and almost finished before our food was delivered. Food was fair. Burgers were good meat and toppings but onion buns were dry and stale. Onion rings were room temp, greasy and had no flavor. We won't be back. read more

Great neighborhood bar. The bartenders & servers are always so friendly and have great beer suggestions. Food is always consistently great and obviously made with attention to detail. Nothing is ever slapped together and thrown on a plate. Their BBQ sauce is amazing. On everything! Philly nachos are great. Who am I kidding? Everything I've had here is delicious. I do wish, after years of having the same menu (even though everything is great on it) they would add some new items to keep the regulars interested. We would most likely eat here more often if there were some new items. Don't waste your time at this establishment. Waitresses are extremely rude. Sunday afternoon tried to see the Colts Game. They would not find the remote to hear the game. They were out of wings. And they charge $2.25 for a "taste of beer"". Very disappointed!!! read more

Stopped by Saturday afternoon July 16th. First visit for all 5 of us, picked it based on Yelp reviews. Server was friendly. Ordered 3 different beers. Even tho server assured me she sat the right beers in front of each of us, she had not. Not a major issue but it is a pet peeve of mine, I don't like taking a drink and then having to swap out with someone else at the table. Companions said wings were good, my ham & Swiss sub was ok. Good amount of ham but lite on the Swiss cheese. Going to give the place another try, will see what happens. read more

Like others on this site, I had read the reviews on this place and decided to check it out. We stopped in on a Saturday evening about 6 pm. The atmosphere was ok... A little dark but workable...(I read to many reviews that get way to critical..at the end of the day it's about the experience and the food) We ordered a grilled pork tenderloin and a Brisket sandwich... Both came with chips The brisket was a really good sandwich...I'm pretty critical to good barbecue...the tenderloin sandwich was terrible.....way to much bun for the size of meat and in all fairness I don't know of any other place where a " grilled" pork tenderloin isn't boring and dry...just like this one was .... Maybe if we would have gotten it breaded it would have had some flavor. Service was ok....she never did stop by our table after the 1st couple of minute question of " is your food ok" to ask if we needed drink refills. I ended up just drinking my wife's water until she came for the bill All and all... Not a place I will come back to.... To many good barbecue places in Fort Wayne to settle for ok. read more

Its your typical bar with above average food. Good variety, and the specials are great. Unfortunately, it appears that the portions (fries) get skimped on when you order a special instead of just the standard item off the menu. I guess thats common at these type of places, so just be aware of that. Otherwise, nice place to grab a cold one and a bite to eat. read more
