I love the BDP. The bartenders are great and the ice is cold. Way better than the McDonalds on Dorsett.

Picked this place for the price point and the fact it had a good rating. Totally was impressed by the food! My wife got the rib basket and I got the fish and chips basket. So totally worth the 8.95. Would come here again if we are in this area. read more

I love the Black Dog Pub! I miss living on the SW side, I was a regular on Friday nights. The food is wonderful; fish taco's (Superb), pizza is great, wings are AWESOME, and the wraps. I'm from out of town. Lived in NJ, GA, KS, VA, Boston, and PA. The Black Dog was recommended by a friend locally. Last time I came here after dinner for a drink, a lady was trying to sell me on the menu. So on my second visit I decided to come for dinner. I ordered the Wednesday all u can eat special and really enjoyed it. Went well with the Busted Knuckle beer from the tap. I will make this a stop every time I visit. From out of town and stopped in after a long drive before a work training. Got the speciality luce fresco pizza with thin crust. Great flavor and balanced pizza. Got a side of the traditional sauce and it was very good, definitely want to try a pizza with that next time. The server was attentive and friendly while still laid back. Asked for the remaining pizza to go and one more round and went for a smoke outside while waiting. Oddly enough while outside someone took the remaining pizza. The server noticed and doubled checked if that was our plan. When she was told it was not, she was quick to respond. She intervene calmly and quickly, got with the manager, and told the other table they were buying our round. The manager quickly and personable checked in and apologized. Definitely not the standard behavior here. They talked to other other table who also apologized. An odd and possibly offensive event that was managed professionally and left me with a good feeling and a peaceable parting with the other table. If the staff could be rated it would be 5 stars. I'm very picky with ratings and only give 5 stars when something is memorably excellent and standard setting. The crowd is diverse, as was the music and the tv placement. You could watch a game, sit at the bar, or eat and talk with friends and feel at place either way. Next time I'm back will definitely stop here. read more

Service at this place is slower then molasses coming out of a cold can. After waiting close to 45 minutes our appetizer came out at the same time as our meals, which where to say, bad. Turns out the fried cod I ordered was fried mahi-magi and was as dry as a bucket of sand, they had run out of cod by the way and just served me the mahi-mahi without asking if I would like to reorder. Whoever runs this place is also to lazy to keep their beer menu up to date either. The two men with greasy dreadlocks walking in and out of the kitchen without a hair net prompted me to report this location to the board of health. Only redeeming thing about this place is the pizza, but you can get better pizza just a mile east of this place at Chevvy's on Jefferson. read more

Waited forty five minutes for a order of chips and queso which arrived to the table hard and nasty. Ordered pizza and was told they were out of dough, when we came just for the pizza. Waitress was unprofessional and lacked the ability to give us good customer service. read more

Pizza were great too, the small size pizza is perfect for one, so everyone got their own. Nice and chill atmosphere! Great Service! BIG was EVERYTHING!! I've had all 3 of the "big ass" menu items: tenderloin, fish & burger. You could easily split these "big ass" sandwiches among 4 people! We usually get carry out at lunch time and the bartender/servers are always really friendly. I've yet to be disappointed with this pub food. read more

My wife and I have been patrons of the Black Dog Pub for a few years now and have always recommended it to others looking for a great meal and drinks. As of tonight that will cease!!! I am not sure what changes took place since our last visit, but the service and food have fallen dramatically. We entered the family dinning area where it was quieter and expected to be seated in that area as a table came open. However, the staff never asked us our seating preference, instead she ushered into the bar even though a table was empty in the family dining. The atmosphere was loud with a number of yelling drunk women and a old obnoxious crooner. Even another patron ask them to keep him at the other end of the bar. By that time they took us into that area all the tables in the family area were all full, so asking to be seated somewhere else was out of the question. At that time we should of left, but made the mistake of staying. The reason I went was for the great food we were use to...well did I get a shock and huge disappointment. The chicken my wife had ordered was dry and I ordered what I usually get a BIG ASS Tenderloin... but instead received a HALF-ASS Tenderloin! Though it was cooked well, the tenderloin I was accustom to had shrunk dramatically. What made it worse was the so called bun...It looked more like a gigantic toasted milk biscuit (which I did not ask for) and it dwarfed the tenderloin. The bottom portion alone was an inch thick dry and crumbly. When we inquired the waitresses about it, our waitress said it had change about a week ago, but never once told us when ordering and a second waitress told us that they had to make the buns themselves as the supplier was no longer making them. Finally, the kicker! The changes were not reflected in the pricey cost of it. Instead of apologizing and reducing our bill or asking if we would like talk to the manager...the reply I heard when my wife suggested they need to change the bun or find a new supplier, or it will cost them patrons....was ..."well that's too bad!" I give just it one star and that is being generous! The staff was inconsiderate, if not rude, and the food...well if its not good then take it off the menu or forewarn your patrons, because it ruined our experience and we can no longer recommend the Black Dog Pub. read more

My wife and I took our daughter and grandson to the black dog for dinner on 12/18/16. Food was excellent and the service was superb. But, it will be another cold day before we return. We had to tolerate a barrage of "F" bombs from other patrons throughout our meal. Just not tolerable at any business. I feel sorry for the waitress as she was exceptional. read more

Black Dog, oh, how I miss you! I'm now in Austin, TX and can't enjoy the fun and laughs we had. Kara is amazing. Jeff, the owner, is engaged with the business to be sure all is great. The pizza is delish. And don't overlook the turkey sandwich, simple and amazing. The beer prices and the welcoming-friendly vibe should not be taken for granted. THEY appreciate your business (often owners/servers in Indiana don't, sorry to say). I look forward to a day of catching up again @ BDP when I roll into Indiana again. Continued success! read more

This is definitely our go to date night. The atmosphere, along with the drink selection is great! Oh, and the food is fantastic!

The restaurant is tiny but inviting. Nice atmosphere. Unfortunately, there's no place to wait for a table besides outside and a couple table chairs by the crowded doors. Bathroom was tiny. I had to load the toilet paper myself. Server was very friendly and attentive, but I was disappointed with the food. Fries were flavorless but cooked well, and the chicken tenders were terrible. The absolute worst service in my 59 years of eating out. Had a table of 15 people, we were served the wrong food, and in some cases never received the food. Served flat beer and when we asked to send it back we were told that they would have to charge half price for the beer sent back and then full price for the replacement beer. Asked to speak with a manager and they referred me to the bartender. She apologized but did not fix the problem of not receiving the food that we ordered. When I asked to speak with the owner, he was sitting at the end of the bar drinking with his buddies. When I explained the situation to him he proceeded to make a scene in front of everyone having us raise our hands in front of everyone in the dining room if we received bad serviced or bad food! How embarrassing! Very unprofessional. In the mean time the server proceeds to blame a 16 year old boy in our group for accepting the wrong order that he was served. He was so upset he would not eat. When I asked the owner if we could get the food that we ordered because it was getting late and we needed to get home, at this point our service or the lack of had went on for over two hours and it was 9:30pm at night. Some of us just wanted to get home so we could get some sleep before we had to get up in the morning to get to work. After requesting to get our food to go and our checks the owner proceeded to cuss and drop the "F" Bombs all the while poking me in the chest. It was like he wanted to fight me. All we wanted was our food. He then takes it to another level by following me out to my car and taking pictures of my license plate and threatens to come to my place of employment to complain. This childish response was ridiculous and embarrassing. I would never recommend to visit this establishment unless you want to have one of the worst experiences of your life! very upsetting. I can only pray that this business closes soon or assumes new ownership. No one should be treated this way! read more
