This place was awesome! We came for the cheese wheel experience and it didn't disappoint. Only negatives are it can take a while to get the cheese wheel as there's only one wheel for the whole restaurant, and the restaurant is tiny and it gets loud at dinner time. The appetizer special was burrata with prosciutto and bread which was phenomenal. The cheese wheel was really good and obviously had LOTS of cheese. I recommend adding the meatballs or lobster if you like that. Desserts were par for the course: chocolate cake and cheesecake when we went. Definitely recommend!

We had an excellent time for the cheese wheel experience. The staff was awesome and our waiter Tyler was great from beginning to end, but he couldn't have done it without the rest of the crew. The Sushi Nachos, holy shit, they were ridiculous perfect. The pasta was amazing as you could imagine, and even the damn garlic bread had some ridiculous flavors hidden in there. An absolute treat. The fun close to home atmosphere was perfect with everyone as friendly as could be. Thank you and we will be back again soon and get our friends to join!

Restaurant is super cute and all of the staff are incredibly sweet and kind. The building itself is really small and felt cramped but it's an old building with character. It was very loud as well but that's likely also due to the structure of the small building and the amount of people that were in there. The food was not only beautiful but delicious and unique!!! Super fun and delicious experience.

My husband and I celebrated our 32nd anniversary at Black Forest Bistro. It was our first time there and definitely will not be our last. When I saw the menu and pics of the food, I knew I wanted to eat there. I was slightly concerned that it was a "dress up' kind of place until I saw pics of the interior. I was thrilled to find out it has a comfortable "mountain town" kind of vibe. We opted for jeans and sweaters. Yay. (Though I know you'd be comfortable in about anything.) When we got there the hostess greeted us. She had a sense of humor and family-feel welcoming style. We were seated at a cute little table to the side of a huge rock fireplace, next to a rock wall. It felt like a vacation-in-the-mountains restaurant. Right away, they presented us with a card signed by all the staff for our anniversary, gifting us a complementary piece of cake ... and a bag of chocolate truffles. Wow. The server came by quickly. We decided to lead off with a couple of their award-winning old-fashioneds. My husband got the maple bacon and I got the smoked. They were both fantastic. I thought the maple bacon was a tiny bit more sweet, not much. I loved the smoky walnut flavor and smell of mine. Plus, to be honest, it was just really cool when she took the top off and the smoke came pouring out, dramatic. Right away we noticed that there's a tremendous team spirit with the staff. Everyone was working together and friendly but not at all obtrusive. The food was all served with great timing. Everything we ate was absolutely delicious and the presentation was stunning. The sushi nachos were so tasty. If I go for lunch, I may just order that as my entree. My husband had the Korean sticky noodles. Huge portion and really tasty. The sea bass was one of the best pieces of fish I've ever eating in my life. Incredible. Absolutely incredible. The mushroom ravioli that came with the sea bass was perfect. This chef is amazing. The bartender came by with complementary drinks in the cutest tiny mugs. It was a "special hot chocolate drink". I don't know what magic this guy performs, he's gooooood, but these little drinks were really tasty. I could have drank a 12 ounce mug of this delight ... but probably shouldn't. It was warm, chocolatey and you could taste a bit of roasted marshmallow. For dessert, we opted for the chocolate cake ... to go. Honestly, we were really full. We shared the cake a few hours later ... bliss. It was a yummy multi layer cake with different textures, sponge, mousse, chocolate delight. We can't wait to go back to Black Forest Bistro!

High end food in a casual environment. Great food. The cheese wheel cart is a binary thing. Either only that or no luck. Gravel parking lot and a step here and there.

Great experience overall! I think this is a must visit for a date night. My husband and I went to try out the cheese wheel and it was fantastic. Our server Johanna was very sweet and accommodating. I definitely recommend visiting. Some things to know before you visit- make a reservation. The cheese wheel isn't offered all the time; they do it on Thursdays from 5-7. We had our reservation for 5 on Thursday and we were eating pasta within 30 minutes of sitting down, but it took some tables a little longer since there is only one cheese wheel.

I can't say enough about this place! It's a really cute setting inside. It's basically a little cabin. Nothing fancy. Beautiful outside seating area with lighting. BUT the food was amazing! The chef did a wonderful job! We enjoyed everything! Service was top notch! It was also my friend's birthday and she was given a very generous slice of chocolate cake that was so good! The menu changes seasonally minus a few items! Get out and try this place for a fun date night, girls night or special family time! It is pricey...so keep that in mind!

There's a reason Black Forest Bistro WINS and PLACES in so many categories for "The Best of the Springs!" From service to bar drinks to the food....it's one of my favorite restaurants. The friendliness of the staff makes our visit so special every time we dine. And the food....I've had the sushi nachos, ahi tuna, Korean sticky street noodles, lobster ravioli and Bayou chicken fried chicken (just to mention a few of their fabulous dishes.) Sometimes the food looks too pretty to eat. You absolutely have to snap a photo before diving in. The drinks are the same - beautiful and tasty. I see Flip (the bartender) as a true artist. On occasions, I've had the opportunity to meet Chef Deanna. She takes pride in what is being served to her customers and it shows in her food as well as the entire ambiance of the restaurant. I'm already planning my next visit!

Now mind…read moreyou, neither of us drink alcohol so we can't rate what I've come find out is a bar, not really a restaurant. What I can say is that our lovely waitress, Lindsey, had to run all over the hotel up and down elevators to find a couple of bottles of sparkling water. A bar, that doesn't have sparkling water? The menu is pretty extensive for a bar so we ordered several things. I knew we shouldn't expect 4 star dining when I first ordered the mochi's to start, because my world traveled friend had never had one. It was a chemical confection of freezer burn and rubber and sadly would never win any awards. Meanwhile, Lindsey announced that she was still on the hunt for sparkling water! Next our food came out in strange order. My friend had the rubbery chicken wings and I had the Burrata cheese and sourdough having also ordered a crab salad. Meanwhile Lindsey had returned to the table to announce "they" were all still looking throughout the Hotel Polaris for Perrier, San Pellegrino or any kind of sparkling water. The salad came out as pig slop in a cup. Hosed down crab with so much mayo that it could honestly have easily been misidentified as a colon mass. It went back to die in a kitchen that I suspect is stocked with nothing more than frozen food from Kroger. Instead Lindsey offered just crabmeat in a cup. Wanting to just eat I eagerly agreed, after all she was so lovely and was trying so hard to find that damn water. lol When the bowl was returned to my table it was frozen fake crab, no labeling on the menu that it would be fake crabmeat. Once again the search began for anything healthy to eat. Then the lobster meat came out in the same size small queso like cup with a side of cold drawn butter congealing. By now I was done, BUT THE WATER WAS FOUND !!! TWO SMALL BOTTLES OF PERRIER SAVED THE NIGHT. A liquid diet it would be for me and all for the price of a small dog. :) I'd like to thank God for giving me such a humorous, patient spirit,l I'd like to thank my date for his eye rolls with smiles as they fumbled through our meal, I'd like to thank Lindsey for her tenacity, determination and devotion to her customers and I'd appreciate a thank you from Lindsey for my helping her to reach 10,000 steps in just under 2 hours. :) Bypass this place unless you're desperate for a view of the mountains and alcohol.

The fried cheese is very different from your other standard cheeses or mozzarella sticks. The cheese is much more firm with a light fry. The cup of bacon is fatty, salty, with a tiny bit of sweetness. The ricotta gnocchi bolognese has some amazing fresh gnocchi. The bolognese sauce was okay so it's a fine dish but I probably wouldn't get it again. The duck poutine has delicious fresh fries that end up crisp topped with tons of cheese and gravy. I went solo and decided to sit at the bar where they had three bartenders that would rotate with all the customers making it very efficient and great coverage. The food was very inventive; not your typical fare even for a bistro. I started with the lobster tater tots that were served with ranch. He had the perfect amount of seafood flavor and a super crispy outer; I would recommend. Next, I had the ginger pork and crispy rice dish. This had a large helping of pork that did well with the Asian flavors and that crispy rice for texture; I would recommend. My final was the miso butterscotch tart. You can't go wrong with a dessert that has butterscotch, Biscoff, marshmallow and miso. The only criticism I could make was that the tart was pretty loose, but that did not take away from the flavor. To drink this place has lots of beer taps, a good selection of wine and plenty of interesting cocktails. I chose to have a couple beers and they were both very tasty. I would like to come back with additional people so that we could try more of the menu items. Unfortunately, it is an hour away from where I live, but the next time I find myself down in the springs, I will return.
