Had a great early Valentines Dinner. First time here. My wife had a Jack Frost drink and I had the Chili flavored margarita. Both had great flavor. We had a bacon flavored flatbread as an appetizer and it was outstanding. Also had an app of Brussel sprouts. We shared the blackened mahi-mahi which was was cooked perfectly. It had a little kick of spice but was not overwhelming. Staff was great and friendly. They gave us a rose and box of candy at the end of the evening. The only and I mean only recommendation I would have is to dim the lights some. It was a little too bright, especially on a romantic night. We will return to this place though! read more

Be careful when ordering gluten free options. My girlfriend ordered a dish that said gluten free and she very quickly knew something was off after she started eating it. She thought the noodles were just gluten free but thankfully we asked and were told it was not gluten free. The menu changes weekly so whoever adjusts and edits the menu really needs to pay attention when they are adding/editing gluten free meals. Luckily it wasn't worse but if someone who was celiac had this happen, it would be a different story. The waitress was very nice and apologetic and it wasn't her fault, she was awesome and comped the meal. I will most likely not be going back for this reason and it was very expensive for slightly average food. read more

This place has five star restaurant food at family restaurant prices. I kid you not, the food is in the outstanding category. Plus they provide great background music by professional musicians on Friday nights. I just happened to go there. What a discovery. Yesssss! This place is amazing! My husband made reservations to celebrate our anniversary. First let me tell you I'm not an anniversary person nor a "let's spend a lot of money on food" person. I was not too excited about this whole event. BUT when we got there I was intrigued by its location and felt welcomed by the staff. The ambience was cute and the staff was warm and kind. The best part was the amazing drinks and food. I got the lobster ravioli and my husband got the Korean sticky noodles. They were both amazing. But on top of that the old fashioned and bistro mule drinks were killer. I was so happy with the food I ordered the pina colada cobbler for dessert and was blown away. We paid 125 for two drinks each, appetizer, two meals and a dessert and considering how delicious everything was I'd pay that again. This is my new favorite place and can't wait to go back. Fabulous dinner!! We sat on the patio on a beautiful Colorado evening. We ordered potstickers and Brussel sprouts, very excellent appetizers. Entrees were pork chops, lamb shank and Korean Street Noodles. All excellent!!!! We had limoncello cake, chocolate cake and the pictured Black Forest Red Wine cobbler with ice cream. Our first time visiting, and all we can say is, "Wow!" We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. First, the elderberry martini was excellent and the Brussels sprouts appetizer very good. My husband ordered the Korean Street Noodles and loved it. I ordered a special Steelhead trout over orzo with asparagus. It was perfectly cooked and delicious. Tiramisu cake for dessert was the perfect finish. The service Leslie provided was some of the best we have seen in all of Colorado. We will be back--soon! read more

A lot of seafood on their menu. Hard to pull off in somewhere like Colorado. I tried the lobster ravioli and wasn't too impressed. Very bland and the lobster tasted like it had been run under tap water for the last hour before it was cooked. Kind of disappointed. For a restaurant in Colorado, I think the menu should've been less seafood focused and more focused on fresh, locally available products. I tried their seafood sushi and there was a lot more crab and salmon than there were wonton chips. On top of that, the crab tasted like it was straight out of a can. A little bit of an overload. The quality of their seafood is on par with Chili's, which isn't saying much. The atmosphere was small and very busy. Music was loud and I had to shout and lean towards my wife so we could hear each other. I doubt we'll be coming back. read more

My husband and I came here to celebrate our anniversary. The ambiance is very warm and welcoming nestled in beautiful Black Forest. This is the BEST food we've had since moving to Colorado Springs. I had the Chilean Sea Bass and my husband had the Korean Beef Noodle Bowl. Both dishes were packed with flavor. The service was great. They even gave us a free dessert and card signed by the staff for our anniversary. Will recommend to anyone celebrating a special occasion. read more

We went for my birthday and it was wonderful. Started with a lovely birthday card giving me a free piece of cake to celebrate including flavored popcorn to enjoy with the wine we bought. Our dinners were so good. The atmosphere was rustic but the food was fine dining. A live band and friendly servers added to a very special evening for our birthday dinner with our friends. Being new to Colorado Springs we were excited to try Black Forest Bistro. We ordered drinks, wine, an appetizer, 2 entrees and dessert. We had been enjoying the great food and music when we were asked to vacate our table. We had been steadily eating and drinking for only an hour and ten minutes when our waitress said the owner/chef needs this table for her friends! She offered to move us to a vacant table next to ours in the middle of our cheescake! There were 2 empty tables by us, so it was confusing why the new guests had to have our tiny table for 2. This is not the way to win repeat costumers! Not planning to return no matter how good the food is..... the whole experience needs to be positive especially when spending over $140.00 in less than an hour and a half!!! read more

Atmosphere was awful! So loud, we had to yell to try and talk between the 4 of us. The tables were very close. It is an old log Cabin (no character)...just old and worn out. No decor...just old worn out furniture. The food was good but prices are wayyy too high. Portion size was small. We were not full. At most restaurants, I can usually split a meal with my spouse, but we both ordered a full meal and ate every bite, but we were not full. All four us commented on small portion size. One small piece of bread is served before the meal. If you request extra, it is $3 for 2 very small thin slices. read more

Once again, the Black Forest Bistro stands out. This is my second time ever coming to the Bistro after it changed owners. Went on Saturday, they were super busy but the service was great. I ordered a Peanut butter cup martini and sat at the bar. Amanda, the bartender was wholesome and welcoming. For my entree, I had the Sea-bass over sticky noodles. The fish was buttery and light. Did not sit too heavy on my stomach. To top off the evening, I had a piece of chocolate overload cake. Which was absolutely amazing, this is such a cute place. It is right near my house. Might have to become a regular. I will definitely be back with friends. I highly recommend running to the Bistro and making a reservation. You won't be disappointed. read more

My beloved and I decided to go to this little treasure Saturday night. The first thing we had was a couple of fantastic drinks. The bartender is definitely a professional. We then decided to get our dinner ordered. We had a problem picking out the food from the menu as everything sounded yummy. Our server was very well versed in all meals and what they were and how they were cooked. She has fantastic people skills. We were told the chef worked alone in the kitchen. There was no delay in the meal and it tasted fantastic! We will definitely be back to try something else from the chef. read more

We've eaten at the Black Forest Bistro on 2 prior occasions - Thursday and Friday nights and quite enjoyed it. Last night(Saturday) we went with another couple who had not tried it yet. We arrived on time for our reservation, were seated and ordered shortly thereafter. The drinks and food came fairly quickly. The food was delicious. The portions are not huge, but adequate. HOWEVER - we had just finished our meal and declined dessert when we were told that our table was needed for other guests. Now I understand when things are busy and diners are lingering for a long time that it messes up the reservations, BUT that was not the case for us. At most, we were at the table for about 1 hour. We had not even received our change from paying the bill OR finished our drinks when we were asked to leave. I found this outrageously rude and felt extremely insulted after shelling out $250 for 4 meals. This is no way to treat customers! Shame on you BFB! I will never, ever patronize this establishment again. read more

We visited the Bistro today. Oh My Goodness! It is a creative but approachable menu. I could have eaten the bread and butter all day! I was a little concerned about the description of the butter but it was yummy. Of course, this is a place for you but a great place when you have visitors from out of the area. What a gem! We had a great meal there last Saturday night. Three of us had a burger, shrimp and grits, and a Moroccan-style coq-au-vin. Burger was good and cooked as requested. The other two were special. The craft cocktails were very good too. The patio was full so we sat inside, which was cozy and nice. The live music on the patio was unobtrusive and a nice touch. If you truly want local, delicious, fresh food, you've got to try this place. A friend and I stopped in on a total whim. The wait staff was friendly, helpful, and personable. They had live music on the patio (which is lovely), we shared 2 dishes - Shrimp and Grits - and the special - Sea Bass on Korean Sticky Noodles. Holy moly... some of the tastiest food I've had in a LOOOOOONG time in the COS area. Plan to spend between $18-$45 for your entree, depending on what you get, but I am telling you, you will not regret it. The Bistro Mule is perfect for a summer evening and the limoncello cake is OUTSTANDING, better than any bakery in town. I can't believe I didn't take any pictures... but I am telling you... local, delicious, and hands down some of the best staff I've encountered. We spoke to the owner/chef and she is lovely. The Black Forest has always been a special place in Colorado Springs The addition of the Black Forest bistro has raised its status to exceptional. The Black Forest bistro has bought fine dining to the community of Black Forest and they are doing an excellent job. The wait staff was courteous and professional. Our waitress, Leslie, was attentive and responsive to all of our needs and questions. For our appetizer my wife ordered the ceviche and mango salsa and I ordered the potstickers.The ceviche with mango salsa was served with freshly made wonton chips, and the potstickers, fresh from the wok we're served in a timely manner. Both of the appetizers were exceptional. For our entrees my wife ordered the coq au vin and I had the sweet Korean noodles with beef. The presentation was outstanding. But the combination of flavors was even better. Of course our dessert was the black forest cheesecake, again another gastronomical delight. We will be making this a regular weekly date night. I will recommend this to all of my friends and will definitely recommend this bistro to anyone looking for great food in a great setting. read more

Let me start by saying I am not a person who normally leaves reviews because it takes a lot to bug me. Tonight we made a reservation for 4 people my husband, my two toddlers and I. We live in the area and we're so excited to try this place as the reviews are very good. Got there about 6:45 and immediately put our order in as we know dinner usually doesn't last long with two babies. We we're told by the waitress they we're running behind but would have our food out as soon as possible. An hour goes by, and the waitress comes back out saying they have not started our food and they ran out of the items to make our food. At this point we just want to get our babies home as it is almost 8:00pm. No manager or owner came to apologize nor did they comp anything on our bill. Didn't even get dinner and still paid $50 for two drinks and an appetizer I could have made at home. I'm just very upset in the customer service. I wish we would have been notified earlier on that they were running out of items and it would be 1.5 hours before getting dinner out. read more
