Recently got my ears pierced for the first time, was welcomed in with my appointment and got to make jewelry selection, I do wish there was somewhere listed with the prices instead of having to get a quote for every piece you're interested in. I ended up getting some dainty 14k gold snake ears and walked out of there spending $400 on two holes and two earrings. Since I had made an appointment and was already set on getting my ears pierced I went through with it but I wish I had at least an estimate on how much I would be spending that day. The piercing process was very hygienic and well explained, I got a sheet at the end with my aftercare instructions and a saline spray for cleaning purposes. I had a philtrim piercing appointment today. The walk in experience was very welcoming. It's a small shop but very cute and cozy. They had a lot of beautiful jewelry to choose from. Where it got uncomfortable for me was when I actually went to the piercing room. Vanessa was my piercer and she had a cold, and robotic demeanor. She had a very unwelcoming aura. I rinsed my mouth out with mouthwash as she instructed. I guess I spit it out a few seconds too early, and she rudely pointed it out that 'it was less than 30 seconds because she was counting.' That could have been handled more politely. After that comment she instantly made me uncomfortable and I contemplated asking her to not continue on with appointment. I will be back for my post change in 6 weeks, but I will make sure the appointment is scheduled with someone else. read more

Came in from out of town, lost my nose ring & just needed a replacement. Walked in and was told it would be a 20 minute wait just to purchase the jewelry, without any installation or assistance. Just to buy it. So i waited to 20 minutes, then was told they'd have to have a piercer bend it or install it and that would take another 30 minutes. She stated they were just letting me know so that I didn't waste my time, but i had already wasted 25 minutes waiting. The staff was unapologetic and rude. My sisters and I were in Reno for the weekend and all decided to get piercings together- we found Black Hole on Yelp and decided to chance a walk in to see if they had any available appointments. We lucked out and were able to get appointments at different times throughout the weekend, but I HIGHLY reco making an appointment ahead of time. They were quite busy but it never detracted from our experience there. Lexie at the front desk was very warm and welcoming, the staff member (I think her name was Aly?) who helped me choose my jewelry (they have a great selection, lots of BVLA which is totally my style) was very knowledgeable and patient with my questions, and Joshua, my piercer knew exactly what my vision was even when I gave him very vague ideas as to how I wanted my piercing placed. Filling out the form was on done with either a QR code on cell phone ( awkward ) or an easier way on an IPad , lots of questions regarding safety and obviously making sure knowing that that piercing was right for you. Make sure to make an appointment as they can get really busy and are pretty booked out. Yes, it is a bit more expensive then you will see at some other places. But for the quality they have, it is 100% worth it and the most I have seen for a service fee is $15 I think. They are also upfront about how much it will cost and their prices are on their website. (Prices & selection of jewelry are not on the website) I got my second ear piercings, septum, and helix here. The helix did get infected but that was my own fault and they did debrief me on how to take care of it every time and warned me that the helix is one of the hardest to heal. After years of begging, daughter finally received her dad's blessing to get her septum pierced. She found this piercing parlor online and by recommendations from a couple of her friends. Once we entered, we were greeted by friendly staff. Then, a nice gentleman helped us pick out the right septum ring before finally being led in the room where they perform the piercings. The piercing artist's name is Tony and my daughter liked him because he was honest and straight forward. He wasn't pulling any punches on what to expect and pointed out some cons about getting the septum pierced. And I was relieved that they have modern sterilizing equipments to use for their piercing devices including the rings. The procedure didn't take long at all and he was talking to her throughout to alleviate her nervousness. He then gave her instructions on aftercare and encouraged us to call if we have additional questions before the 6!week follow up. They do follow up with their clients to make sure that the piercing is healing nicely and that their instructions are being followed. I went here yesterday on 11/14 for a nostril piercing with Vanessa Jo. She was sweet and straight to the point. I'm actually from the Bay Area, CA. &I've been itching to to get a second nostril piercing on the right side, I already have my left nostril pierced from years ago. I was heading up to Reno on Sunday and looked up a place to get pierced and this was one of the top hits besides tattoo shops. They're by appointment only, so I was able to book an appointment right away online for 11/14 @ 1:55pm. I blindly chose Vanessa Jo, but I was not disappointed. Upon arrival, I realized it was a cute house. Once coming through the door, their front desk set up was a mere two steps in. The decor and set up was pleasant &the process was simple. Check in, choose your jewelry and wait for your piercer to prep the room. I waited longer than it actually took to get pierced but the vibe in there was pleasant and I didn't mind. If you read the guidelines and fill out the paperwork online before coming in, it says to plan to be with them at least an hour so I was unbothered by the wait. Vanessa Jo showed experience and talked me through the entire process along with aftercare. Even though I already had a nostril piercing she visibly seen, she still went through the motions with the piercing itself and aftercare, which I appreciated the most. Whether you choose this place for your first ever piercing or your 15th, a professional piercer will always be thorough with the process and proper aftercare. I tipped her $20. Also, the aftercare saline mist spray was free and I was honestly shocked that it was. I'm too used to Bay Area prices that I almost said, 'wdym this isn't $10?' LOL. After reading the owner's response I am even more sure of my review. To be very clear, the contract is not confusing at all--it is predatory. It is very disrespectful to imply that a customer with valid concerns about predatory business practices must be (1) confused about your contract or (2) looking for "a mall stand" or some place "not reputable" (apparently any place other than this one). I was not provided with the actual price of a single earring and have no idea what the total would have been on any of the options. The sales person kept saying "way more" or "way less" when asked for pricing-- those are not numbers. I came in here on a whim with my good friend, fellow Yelper and regular customer to Black Hole. I have been looking for small diamond studs with screw backs for some time and she told me that Black Hole has a large selection. We stopped by and I was able to see their diamonds. I decided that the diamonds were more than I wanted to spend, so instead I choose small Swarovski crystals, also with the screw backs. They also asked how long I have had my holes for, to make sure they didn't need to be re-pierced, both holes in both of my ears I have had for well over 20 years. They were having a sale, so the pair was $206.00 after tax. I thought they'd just hand me the earrings and away I'd go, but they actually sanitized the earrings and had their piercer, Jessica, put them in for me! I was not expecting that kind of service! She was professional and polite. Although my second holes weren't all the way open, she was able to get the new earrings in using a needle and then put in the earrings. I gave her some cash and I left and extremely happy customer and am really enjoy my new purchase! If you want high quality body jewelry or new screw backs because you loose everything like me, come check out Black Hole. Or if you want to get your ears pierced, this is the place to do it at! I went in today to get my ears pierced. Tony did my piercing and he was wonderful! I get anxiety with needles and he made me feel very calm, he talked me through every single step and made everything very clear so I felt prepared and there were no surprises. The studio is really nice and clean, and all the workers I spoke with were helpful and friendly. The only reason I'm not rating 5 stars is because of the jewelry prices. I completely understand that they use very high quality pieces, but I wish there had been at least some general information in regards to the prices. I chose very basic titanium studs, plus the $50 piercing fee and I was out the door at $175 before tip. I know people who get pierced frequently would probably be more aware of jewelry prices but as some one just wanting a simple ear piercings this was shocking. The backs of the earrings alone were $20 each. I didn't even know that each stud would be priced separately, and then the backs priced separately as well. Again, I understand and appreciate that they are committed to providing good quality jewelry, I just wish there was some basic information on pricing so I could have been more prepared. This was my go-to place for years. I haven't been there in a few years (I heard they changed ownership somewhere in between), and I decided to stop in because I needed some new jewelry. As soon as I walked in I could immediately see a difference. They have a person who sits at the front like a receptionist and you have to talk to them before anything else. I didn't have an appointment for service since I was just planning on looking at and purchasing jewelry. Now, they may have this posted on their website, but I had no idea you need an appointment to just look at the jewelry. I was in the area and simply walked in to purchase (because that's how it always was in the past). After waiting in the line to talk to the receptionist, they said I'd have to wait 20+ minutes just to look at the jewelry. Like what?! I have NEVER heard of a piercing place not allowing you to just LOOK at the jewelry. I know this place is small, but I've been to places that are even smaller that allow you to look at the jewelry through the glass without an appointment, even when they only have 1 or 2 people working. I was fully ready to walk in and spend a bunch of money on new jewelry, but it's like they don't even want the business. Shuffling people around like cattle. No friendliness. The receptionist is extremely pushy and had a manor about her that made me want to put my face through a wall. We had to wait in line (understandable due to covid) then when we got over there were asked multiple times "what are you looking for" to which the reply multiple times was "just looking" - to which we received the reply "looking for what ? Then when I finally did have a question she knew nothing about the jewelry. All around very uncomfortable environment. Which is unfortunate because the shop is gorgeous and I have heard the piercers are great. Edited to add response to the shop manager - I'm aware why she asked us what we were looking for - we were "just" looking at everything. We both have multiple piercings. The issue is she kept asking repeatedly after we made it clear we would ask for help when we needed it. The question about the jewelry involved size and diameter. The receptionist was very nice - and very overwhelming. Intense would be a gentle euphemism. The shop was extremely clean - the ambiance was uncomfortable. Although I appreciate the response there is not any further action needed. There are plenty of other shops. I'm sure plenty of people enjoy your studio, and I am aware how long it's been running successfully. I have gotten a lot of piercings in my life... and I mean a lot. This was my second round of getting spicy piercings and I was a nervous wreck. Vanessa came in and asked how I was feeling and asked questions about my first experience with these piercings. She told me what she was doing every step of the way (even before she got started). She noticed one of my old piercing holes was opened and asked if she could poke through it, I told her HAVE AT IT. She did, it was still open after 4 years! (I was just as shocked as she was!) I'll start this with a disclaimer, I didn't get pierced here but let me tell you why they still deserve 5 stars. Went in with my sister to get navel piercings. The shop is super adorable, clean, and eclectic. The entire staff was super professional. The jewelry selection was super nice and wasn't cheap looking like it would turn your skin green LOL. Anyways, Bambi took us to do a consultation and his honesty was super appreciated. He stated that it wouldn't be a good idea for us to get navel piercings due to our anatomy and explained why. He said that he wouldn't recommend for us to do it and offered us another piercing to get done. We declined but still appreciated the transparency.
