"A Rare Full English in the Wild" You don't just find a Full English breakfast in Brooklyn anymore -- you hunt for it. You scroll endlessly through delivery apps, dive into brunch menus full of avocado toast and eggs benedict, and eventually resign yourself to pancakes pretending to be culture. But Black Horse Pub? It dares to serve one. And it nearly sticks the landing. ‍ Atmosphere Inside, it's shoulder-to-shoulder. Jerseys everywhere, football on the TVs, a kid playing games on a phone while someone in an Arsenal kit yells at the screen. Outside, I grabbed a rain-dampened table, and the waitress wiped it down for me without being asked. That may sound small, but in Brooklyn? That kind of service is practically extinct. Service Genuinely some of the best I've had in a long time. When I had trouble connecting to the Wi-Fi, she came over and typed in the password for me. Not handed me a slip of paper. Not pointed vaguely at the wall. Typed it in. When I assumed my second round of drinks (a shot of whiskey and a Magners) would take forever -- it was packed -- they showed up immediately. The whole vibe here is "we see you, and we got you." Wings Better than expected, and I already had high hopes. Perfectly cooked -- juicy, not overdone -- with a sauce that walks the tightrope between sweet and spicy without falling into sugary overkill. Balanced, addictive, and clearly not an afterthought. Full English This is what I came for -- and what most places in this city wouldn't even attempt. * Eggs: Fried just right -- golden edges, runny centers. * Mushrooms: Meaty, earthy, cooked with care. * Grilled tomato: Balances out the richness. No soggy mess here. * Ham: Lean, maybe a bit undersalted, but solid. * Beans, toast, and yolk all mingled together -- the kind of simple, hearty opulence that only English food can deliver when it gets out of its own way. * Black pudding: Absolutely excellent. Delicately rustic, no harshness, perfect texture. * Sausage: The only miss. Clearly not an authentic banger -- more like a basic breakfast link. And when you're this close to nailing it, that matters. In a city where it's nearly impossible to find a Full English done with this much effort and balance, that sausage doesn't ruin the meal -- but it does knock it down a notch. Would I come back? No question. Already planning to. If they swap in a proper sausage next time, it might just hit a perfect five.

Giant portions and usual bar food. Nothing amazing but the portions are large so if you are bargain shopping , this place will you all the bang for your bucks! I got a black and tan but no Bass - oh wells! They have lots of beers on tap but nothing super special or fun

This is a local spot around where I live and a friend and I decided we needed a place that had plenty of seating and space to go watch a game from the euros during the day. We got here right before 3pm on a weekday before the game started and there were plenty of spots at tables and by the bar that had views of the tvs. Started off with some apple cider beers and I ordered a chicken Parmesan panini which I honestly have never heard of. My friend had an order of nachos with chicken but I didn't get a photo of it. The chicken parm really blew me away, having it pressed in a panini was very good, crunchy toasted bread with parm covered chicken was one of the best things I had eaten in a while. Experience here was great and I'd for sure come here again for other events.

This was my second time here in two weeks. Tonight I decided to go for the Traditional Burger with American cheese and a non-Alcoholic Guinness to wash it down. I was super impressed with the cheese burger! It was properly flavored and cooked medium-well (just how I wanted it). And the side of French fries was extremely tasty and perfectly salted. I highly recommend getting the burger. Also, Black Horse Pub is a place to go to watch sports games. Enjoy!

Stopped in to grab a bite to eat & have a drink, this place was calm with loud Spanish music playing (it was probably extra loud because it was the day of the Puerto Rican day parade) either way I didn't mind. We were seen right after we seated ourselves at a table across from the bar. This place wasn't crowded which is great, I ordered a glass of pinōt grigio with fish tacos & sweet potato fries. It was tasty & our server Jorge was the best!

Food was amazing, portions are huge! Service was very friendly and wasn't too long of a wait. Good food takes time and this place had great food. If you love football (soccer) this is the place to be. Champions league, premier league, they have it all !

Came here on a Sunday afternoon. It's a nice and chilled spot in parkslope. The pub offers indoor and outdoor seating. The menu has a variety of foods and drinks to choose from. Service Is quick. Food and drinks are always on point with flavor.

A great neighborhood bar! The service was great, they have a good selection of beers and a number of cocktails, and the food is pretty good. The nachos were the best out of what we ordered, lots of toppings that were all good. An order of mozzarella sticks was pretty large (8-10?) and came with a nice sauce, although a little watery. The chicken wings I would not order again, they were not crispy but did have a good amount of meat on them, and something seemed off about the buffalo sauce. Overall, I would definitely return for some solid bar food and good drinks.

I mentally noted this place while walking by it as a good place to eat out doors. This weekend, we are finally graced with some decent weather and I thought now would be a great time to try it out! When we arrived there were already people sitting outside but still a good amount of seats available. We sat down right away and was greeted by our server who presented us the menus. Their menu is quite large. A lot of selections to choose from. They even have breakfast on the weekends but it's only available before 2 pm. We tried ordering a breakfast burrito at 210 but It was already too late. They are pretty strict on that I guess. We ended up ordering the buffalo cauliflower, fish tacos and crab cake salad. Buffalo cauliflower was by far my favorite of all the dishes. It was perfectly crispy and not falling apart. It was hot and soft on the inside with the perfect amount of buffalo sauce. I was thoroughly impressed they made this boring vegetable into such an amazing palat pleaser. The fish tacos on the other hand was not as spectacular. First it was not even a taco. They really need to fix the name on the menu. The "taco" was a wrap. There were 4 pieces and it came with fries. The wrap overall was a little too soggy. The inside was too wet. Believe it or not it was also lacking avocados! Fries were decent though. Crab cakes were not bad. The salad itself was lacking but the crab cakes made up for it. Good chunky amount of crab cakes with each bite. I'd come back for some drinks and the cauliflower but not the fish tacos for sure.

Came in for Super Bowl Sunday around 3:30 PM thinking it would be packed but it wasn't! We had a group of 7 so we wanted to secure some seats. They had a Super Bowl platter for $45 for 8 mozzarella sticks, veggie nachos, fries, 6 piece chicken wings, 6 piece chicken tenders, and 6 piece beef empanadas but no one told us it was an option starting at 6 PM until much later. They also had some drink options on that special menu so ALWAYS ASK ABOUT THE SPECIALS! Overall, good food and plenty of TVs to watch the game on. Would come again to hang out and watch sports at for sure.

A no frills bar/pub that's good if you don't know what you want to eat. They have a pretty decent menu with lots to choose from. Please keep in mind this place is a bar so the music can get loud and the TV is always on so it can be distracting. The few times I've eaten here it was always with family so my kid is with us. During lunch and early dinner, you will see lots of family with kids eating here so it's kind of the norm here in south slope. The chicken fingers are always a hit with kids, nicely fried without drying out the chicken. The shrimp salad is ok. The nachos are delicious but don't get steak since it's probably a cheaper cut of meat and comes out too dry. Their fried calamaris are amazing and we get those every time we come here.

I was here for Saint Patrick's Day. Our experience here was probably helped by the fact that we got a table. The crowd grew and fell from hour to hour. Sports on TV. Even when the crowd level was high, our waitress was pretty attentive. Corrected the one order error we had within five minutes. Shock Top was on special for $4/per. There were also Irish Car Bombs involved. Our waitress made sense of six tipsy fools trying to pay a bill. Nachos were surprisingly good for a sports bar. I guess I should go back and give this place a sober review. But for now, I came, I drank, I liked. read more

I came out for the State of the Union address watch party. May be a corny reason, but I'm really glad it got me to the bar. Truthfully it's just a regular bar. The perks are it's really pretty laid back. The staff is ridiculously nice. I ordered the chicken nachos and they were great. Also at our table the Cuban sandwich- delicious and the beef tacos- wonderful and filling. The drinks were spot on and not too crazy expensive. It's definitely a new spot to hit up whenever I'm in the area. read more

Walking distance from the house, dog friendly sidewalk seating and the significant improvement with their British pub grub in the last year or so, makes this a very attractive lunch spot. We've never dined inside nor do we go on sport Sundays. Too crowded, too loud, too much outdoor smoking. read more

I always have a great time here. Bar staff are great, very personable. Drinks are priced well. Lots of space to move around, 3 large TV's playing sport all day, pub grub, the patrons are also very friendly. Can't beat it. read more

My husband and I stopped in a few days ago for an early dinner while we were actually looking for another restaurant nearby (it was closed), and we were glad we did. The bartender/server was incredibly friendly, and the place was warm and inviting. The Christmas lights hung around the restaurant were a nice touch. It wasn't busy (I assume because of the time), so we had the bartender's attention most of our time there. Once regulars starting arriving, she was warmly greeting them by name. We had a half order of chicken nachos, a steak sandwich, and a pulled pork sandwich. Everything was delicious. They definitely give you plenty of food to fill your belly. The nachos alone would've held us over for a few hours, and we both ended up taking half of our entrees with us. I'd definitely recommend you stop in. read more

shmeh. Rude regulars, beer selection is whatever. Loud. Waitress had a loud conversation basically standing over my shoulder, and some regulars decided it was cool to use my table for their beers even though there were empty ones next to them. $20 card minimum is also a bit much.... I'd recommend only if you are desperate, although the outside tables seem pretty chill. read more

The food is awesome, service never fails and the beer is always cold. Lorenzo, the waiter, is friendly and attentive. We come here and always sit in his section. He always makes us feel welcome and always helps us find a place to sit. Great guy. The only thing that is a little strange is the owners wife prancing around in Louboutins touching the regular customers. Can't make it up, lol. read more

I absolutely love this place! It's a soccer bar and I'm not too into soccer, but I still find it a great place. The food is delicious, which I was surprised about because usually Brooklyn pub food is just ok. Even with covid, they have a decent variety of alcoholic drinks. The waitstaff is great and friendly. On numerous occasions we have received free shots with our order. The atmosphere is very laid back and relaxed. I would definitely recommend this place! read more

I wanted to watch the FIFA 2010 UK vs USA match with a crowd of passionate football fans. And the The Black Horse Pub hit it spot on. Owned by a Brit and frequented by New Yorkers and tourists, the bar had an even amount of fans from both sides. It also had ample space to hold the rowdy crowd. The numerous, well-mounted, large screen TVs guaranteed that even someone short like me could watch every second without interruptions. You also can't beat having 16oz pints at $5. And they have hard liquor for those who don't prefer beer. As for the food, my friend ordered the sausage roll and liked it. If you're like me and willing to spend money on "an experience", feel free to order the $5 English Crumpets. Otherwise, you're better off going there for beer. The other food, seemed true to run-of-the-mill English pub fair at NY prices. But then again, no one was really there for the food. The waitress was nice but extremely busy given the occasion. I guess all the locals know her and thus she got a bit distracted weaving in and out of the crowd. However she did get our orders right, bring back our drinks and check to see if we wanted anything else. If you're looking for a place to watch football (not the American kind, although they show that too) and (I hear) cricket with avid fans, this is definitely the place to be. read more

What can you say about BHP? It's an amazing joint. Friendly staff, great bar, good food. Although the Chef and I had to fight it out that he forgot the bangers this weekend, it turned out ok, I got extra pudding....Mmmm...Pudding. Anyhow...back to business. If you've a hankering for a quiet drink, go early on the weekends, once the evening comes around, so do the crowds. read more

Food unusually good for a pub. Lots of screens if you're a sports fan and don't want to miss the game. Easy to get to if you're driving. And friendly staff. As far as pubs go, this one is worth a return trip! read more

This is a great neighborhood pub/ sports bar that always has sports on, They will usually change the channel for you, if its not busy and there's a game you want to watch. If you want to watch soccer or rugby, this is the place to be. Great bears on tap, awesome bartenders, awesome owners that actually get to know their customers. The food is hit or miss. Roomy, very comfortable. I dont live in the Slope anymore but this was my hangout when I was there. With regard to staff complaints: there was one bartender that was kind of a dick but I think they let him go. read more

I'd definitely recommend checking out Black Horse if you are a sports fan (especially a soccer fan). Frequently have any game you could ever want to watch on one of their TVs (and if they don't they will very likely put it on for you) The owners and staff are incredibly friendly and help to make the atmosphere very relaxed and enjoyable. Very good beer selection. The best buffalo wings anywhere in a 5 block radius, but they're a little pricey. Rest of the food is okay. Very much a sports bar/pub feel, not really a great "singles" environment. read more

I asked for ketel one with soda and lime. She spelled it wrong. I spelled it correctly for her. She came back and told me they dnt have it. I told her that I can see it from here. She must have been working drunk. It's a top shelf Vodka home girl, get it together. And learnt to make your money. Not everyone drinks well drinks or beers. read more

Really wanted to love this place, as it's one block away from my apartment. First time I popped in the bartender served me a pint that was COMPLETELY foam from top to bottom. I was so flabbergasted that he'd serve it to me that way that I didn't even say anything, although I wish I had... I've given the place couple more chances but my opinion really hasn't changed. Food is decent but service is poor - it takes a while to get a server's attention for anything during your meal. Ex: We had to ask twice for silverware. Plenty of other better places for beer and pub food in the neighborhood. read more

Sorry to ruin all the good reviews, but I was here last week on a Friday night and the bartender closed out someone else's drink tab on my card, meaning this person left with my card. They have a $20 minimum on cards, so I left mine open. When I went to buy another round so I could close out and go home, she asked me if I had even given my card to her. Finally, after searching everywhere behind the bar, she figured out that she had given my card to someone else with a completely different name. The bar was very empty compared to how I have seen it, but she still happen to mix up my name with someone else's. I live in the area and would have recommended this bar before this happened, but this was an inexcusable mess up. So I suppose my recommendation if you are coming here would be to bring cash. read more

This sports bar is growing on me more and more. It's just a really solid sports bar, probably the most popular in the South Slope area. Great service, great bar food and drinks, and just an overall positive vibe. My friends and I are already considering it as a Super Bowl option this year. read more

Fast,attentive bar tenders. Good atmosphere, flat screens throughout the venue. You can also eat here, sadly I seldom eat at bars. Wish the bar tender knew how to make classic cocktails. One of the bartenders (female), had no clue to what an "Old Fashioned" was! She panicked, and asked her co worker. Her co worker tried but also failed,she made a whiskey sour,and not an old fashioned. But overall I had a good time here. Will probably stop by in the near future. read more

Came here to watch a Barca game since it's not on cable this season. There were a few people watching Real game that was on before. It's not a crazy soccer spot but does get crowded for EURO and World Cup games. Sundays it's all NFL but they can put a game for you on one of the screens though. Decent beer selection, friendly bartenders - I chatted with an Irish guy who is a huge Tottenham fan and he sure knows his soccer. One downside is that it's in the heart of Park Slope so the stroller mafia is always around. read more

Great game today ... or so I thought. Exactly one millisecond after today's quarterfinale ended, the TV coverage was not on the speakers anymore - music was playing instead. When I asked to put the sound back on - I wanted to see the highlights and analysis - I was lectured that the game was over. Replying that I knew that but that I would like to follow up a bit, I was ignored. Then I asked the barkeeper, whether she thought that people came for the soccer or the music - her reply was: go somewhere else if you don't like it. That's exactly what I will do if things don' change - good bye favorite Brooklyn soccer place .. read more

It's a great local bar, but the food exceeds local bar food expectations. The fried chicken sandwich and the avocado BLT are my go-tos. The nachos and wings always deliver, too. Full bar. Lots of taps. Lots of TVs. Open air front windows and some outside seating when the weather is nice. Very friendly staff and crowd. Big soccer crowd but on nights where NY teams are playing or other big games are on, you'll find all types of sports fans gathered here. Consistent and solid place for a meal and/or a night out. read more

Great new British pub in the South Slope. Excellent selection of drafts and good English breakfasts. Most importantly (for me anyway), they show English football (soccer) games. This is now the best spot in Brooklyn to watch the beautiful game. It's still a new pub so the crowds aren't bad, even for the big matches. Bottom line, the Black Horse is a terrific addition to the neighborhood, and I look forward to seeing them grow and improve in the coming months. read more

Great late night spot, I usually come with coworkers after closing our bar. The staff is great, they're all knowledgable about the beers they have on tap. Cool atmosphere, love the outdoor patio. All in all a great bar. read more

Went on a Friday night at around 10pm and it was surprisingly empty for what I thought was a really great new bar. The space is really big with some tables and really nice big bar. Good beer selection, including Magner's on tap which made me happy (and they even served it on ice), reasonable prices and really nice bartenders who said goodbye by name - impressive. If I happen to be in South Park Slope again it's a bar I'd definitely hit up again. read more

A solid soccer bar. It has your typical bar food -- the wings are pretty good -- and a nice selection of beer. I've found the staff friendly. It's a great place to grab a beer and watch a bit of the Champions League. I be this place is INSANE during the World Cup. read more

What this bar pulled was completely unacceptable. They were openly reserving seats at the bar for certain people while telling everyone else they were unavailable. There was no advertised reservation policy, no advance notice, and no opportunity offered to regular customers. Apparently, the only way to get a seat is to know the owner, know the bartenders, or be part of the inner circle. What made it even worse was that my group had been sitting at the bar, ordering food and drinks starting around 7:30 PM, only to be forced out of our seats at 7:45 PM. The reservation signs on those seats clearly stated they were reserved for 8:15 PM. We were paying customers actively spending money, yet we were removed 30 minutes before the supposed reservation time. That is absolutely egregious behavior. I've worked in sports bars and have owned sports bars in New York City. In all my years in the business, I have never heard of reserving seats directly at the bar--especially during a major sporting event. It goes against everything that makes a sports bar successful. Bar seats have always been first-come, first-served. That's Sports Bar 101. I've spent plenty of money here over the years because it was always a great place to watch big games: good atmosphere, sound on the TVs, and a fun crowd. Unfortunately, last night proved that customer loyalty means absolutely nothing. Regular patrons were treated like second-class citizens while preferred customers received special treatment. For a bar that markets itself as a neighborhood sports destination, this was incredibly disappointing, unprofessional, and frankly insulting. If you're planning to watch a major game here, don't assume you'll be treated fairly. Unless you're friends with the right people, don't expect the same experience as everyone else. There are plenty of other sports bars in Brooklyn that understand how to treat customers. After last night, I'll be spending my money there instead. Service has always been friendly and knowledgeable about the beers. I can already see myself back there for the next time I'm craving some delicious craft beer!

The atmosphere is fun, if not extremely loud on weekends. There is outdoor seating, and the smokers congregate back by the side door. The seating out front on the sidewalk is nice on good weather days. I had the tomato soup and grilled cheese. Both were very good. The Caesar salad was a waste. $8 for a plate of romaine, bottled dressing and shake Parmesan cheese with a few croutons. A few shaves of real Parmesan cheese would have made a big difference. They do know how to pour a beer here. Both times my Boddingtons was perfectly poured. Go for a fun afternoon or evening for the sports on TV. Have a great beer. Hang with your friends. I'll admit: I was skeptical at first, but now I'm a fan. It's not just a soccer pub - it's a great place with great beers in a great space that's attracting great people. Sure, the food needs a huge improvement, and sometimes it gets a little too busy if there's a game on the TV, but as a place in the south slope to chill out and kick back, the Black Horse is my new favorite spot.
