For the limited time we're in this area, we always seem to gravitate to our favorites. This leaves precious little time to discover new gems. We were meeting friends for dinner and they suggested Black Marlin as a place they have been wanting to try but have not had a chance. That sounded good to us as we got to try another new place. We arrived during Happy Hour which allowed us to enjoy reduced priced drinks and appetizers. For appetizers we ordered calamari and bam bam shrimp. The shrimp were excellent with the spice adding a nice flavor to the slightly crispy shrimp. (A national chain has shrimp like these but not as good) Calamari was good but not particularly memorable. For dinner my wife ordered the Citrus Crusted Salmon special. This dish was pan seared and served with a delicious mango remoulade. My wife said this is as good salmon as she's ever had. I agreed after trying the small piece she shared with me. I was really in the mood for grouper. It was only offered as a sandwich-not as an entree. I'm glad I stuck with that choice as it was also excellent. We had a great server who kept the drinks coming and continually checked on us. What's better than discovering a new restaurant and enjoying it with friends? Here's the real problem. We can't possibly stay long enough to revisit all our new favorites. We will definitely be back to Black Marlin. read more

There's just something about this place that makes me keep coming back. We always sit at the bar and the bartenders are absolutely fabulous. Good conversation, excellent drinks, and you can eat from the full menu at the bar as well. All of the customers that come in are friendly and you walk out with new friends each time. Husband made reservations for our three year anniversary. I've passed this place so many times and never been in. It's very small and intimate with a wall in the middle so it does break up the room. We were seated by the window, which was a perfect people watching spot. Our waitress was so sweet and knowledgeable. We started off with a dirty martini and an old-fashioned. No complaints, were made just right. Appetizers consist of a side of bread and we ordered conch cakes. Bread- I love the fact the butter was melted to spread a lot easier, and it had a side of oil to dip in. 10/10 Conch cakes- came with two very large cakes. The sauce on top completed this dish, hands-down. Great flavor, gray texture, overall great starter dish. 10/10 Seafood pasta- the waitress lit up when I ordered this dish since she says it's her favorite. That is always a good sign. The dish has a variety of different seafood and also sausage. Good size portion, great flavor, and just overall great combination. 9/10 Crab stuffed shrimp- my husband very much enjoyed this dish. Shrimp and crab is always a good combination. 9/10 Overall, this was a great choice that my husband picked to spend our three year anniversary at. read more

Some may think my saying so should receive 5 stars, but I reserve 5 stars for excellent extraordinary experiences, so for me 4 stars is very good Black Marlin is that! I do think customer service could go up a notch by getting yourselves on open table for online reservations - calling in to make a reservation is a little antiquated. Open table does not diminish the personal touch I think you are going for. Your front entry has no waiting space to speak of so seating people quickly when they arrive is important - don't allow people to stand around the door and block the entry way. read more

We've been here a few times, and I've learned I absolutely love the crab and shrimp pasta and the au gratin potatoes; so good every time! Our server is super nice, funny, and honestly a fan favorite. She's always accommodating and attentive to everyone at the table, including my 5-year-old, which makes her feel special. We also tried the fries, the scallops, and the pistachio-crusted fish with key lime butter; all great. Overall, consistently good food and even better service. I heard the coke tastes flat but all other beverages are great and still 10/10. Ambiance is great, cool vibes. read more

Excellent meal and the service by Lilly was superb. My Guinness Zero was perfect. Really enjoyed the large Sea food bowl which included pasta. My wife is gluten free and she had plenty of choice on the menu, and was served the Scottish salmon with green beans. Thank goodness we found this hidden gem! We were lucky to get a booth in this intimate quieter setting after going to 2 noisy, crammed restaurants with an overdone attitude. Our server was amazing and the food was great, especially the bananas flambé. (They don't flambé tableside anywhere anymore) A good menu and super service! read more

The restaurant is nice as far as the decorated service but the food is quite basic-I had the fried grouper bites .in addition prices are comparable to Palm beach county and Stuart is not exactly Palm Beach demographic wise. They are open later on a town that closes at 8 pm. Beware the pickup trucks tailgating you as you drive home. I never knew that Stuart had so many men driving pickup trucks.either they think they are big he men or they all run a landscape business but they love tailgating women in small cars! read more

We've been to the black marlin twice. We have a boat here in Stuart for the winter. We go back to Boston in the summer. We've eaten at the bar both times. The basil rosemary lemon drop martini is fantastic. This time they didn't have the basil syrup but it was still a winner. Let me start off by saying I'm not a fan of shrimp cocktail. I've had it at all the restaurants with cold shellfish towers. The brine they use for their shrimp cocktail makes these shrimp sing! And the cocktail sauce makes them dance!! We also had the margartia shrimp skewers that were on the happy hour menu. They were also a winner. We also got the mussels Audrey nothing really special about them but good. The Butter is fantastic! I know it's just butter but it's some of the best tasting butter I've had! We also had the pistachio encrusted mahi with the lime butter ( i hate white fish) i asked to keep the dipping sauce that came with margarita shrimp to mask flavor of fish didn't even use it the fish was phenomenal. Then we had the crème brute white chocolate chambord. Another winner! We will absolutely be coming back to the black marlin when we visit again. Or even on this same trip. I'm getting hungry thinking of the food..LOL The service was also excellent as was the atmosphere. read more

The hostess Keira greets you with a beautiful smile and is sweet as can be, bartenders are amazing and make all drinks to perfection, staff is so helpful and pleasant. Unfortunately, the best thing about my dinner was my glass of wine. First, I ordered the fig flatbread bites which were supposed to have crumbled goat cheese, caramelized onions and fig jam. The "goat cheese" was dry and crumbly and honestly tasted like Kraft Parmesan cheese from the green can. There was hardly any fig jam and a huge heaping pile of onions. Next, I had the swordfish special which was supposed to be blackened and crusted with horseradish and a spicy lime aioli. The swordfish was overcooked and the crust had only the faintest hint of spice. Even the aioli had very little flavor. My rice was also undercooked and the asparagus, while tender, tasted simply steamed. Not an ounce of butter or salt. Finally, I thought dessert would be redeeming. My waiter suggested the flourless chocolate torte and I opted to add ice cream. Alas, my torte came out sans ice cream and I'm almost positive the chocolate drizzle was Hershey's syrup. What a fun place, I'll be honest we were strolling in downtown Florida saw the name and said, hey, that sounds cool, let's check them out. We sat at the bar and made it for happy hour (which is a treat for a transplant Hoosier like me, since we are not allowed drink happy hours) The staff was very welcoming, I ended up having a lemon drop basil martini, that was refreshing, sweet and delicious. To eat I split an order of fresh and tasty calamari, I was impressed by how well it was cooked and seasoned. Nice ambiance and superb service but food quality was meh. We ordered the conch cakes and swordfish. Conch cakes were completely saturated w some very sweet sauce and very greasy. Swordfish was served blackened which is usually my favorite but seasoning was a bit basic, bland and uninteresting. I would have to say OK but not great food. The Black Marlin is a fantastic restaurant to head towards for some great food in a setting that lends itself to a perfect place to enjoy a meal and the service was outstanding, as well. They have a great menu coupled with some great specials. There is a focus on seafood, but that is fine with me. However, if seafood isn't your thing, they do have other items. Oh where do I even begin... from start to finish this was a great experience. I'll start with huge compliments to our server Kim! She was absolutely slammed with a couple big parties and still stayed on top of everything and making sure we were comfortable. We started off with the Maple Manhattan and the Basil Rosemary Lemon Drop and they were made perfectly! The seared ahi was cooked perfectly and had a nice fresh flavor to it. On to the main event... I got the crab and shrimp pasta made with an Alfredo sauce and my fiancé got the pasta special. The special had mussels on it that melt in your mouth. Easily the best Mussels I've ever had. It also had scallops and some other small seafood bites that were just great. Everything came out piping hot and cooked perfectly. The flavors of both meals were simply spectacular, I really just can't express it enough. We eat out quite a bit trying new places and this was so worth it. You will not be disappointed if you come here. I will say we were a tad underdressed... I wouldn't go suit and tie, but I also probably wouldn't do flip-flops either. read more

First of all, the lemon drop martini made by (I think) brian or Ryan was great, they are not always made so well. It's a nice atmosphere at the bar and in the restaurant. You can see and feel the professionalism from the staff there. Great servers in all areas. Our dinner was delicious, the three of us loved all of it from appetizers (fried calamari and shrimp) to dinner, to key lime pie for dessert. We got our food quickly although they did not rush us out. Call for a reservation since it is popular. We were there on a Monday night and needed a reservation.
