This was the greatest of pleasant surprises. Came here by chance and I was blown away . The service was phenomenal, everyone is super nice. But if you're looking for a great surf and turf... or should I say "reef & beef ", this is the place to go. You know what? If you're any to make your taste buds happy, this is the place to go. Not impressed. First time here Saturday night. Empty tables, yet seated next to bathroom and across from 2 staff members rolling silverware. Asked to be moved, and it was much better. Waitress brought bread and oil /herbs although that was in a huge bowl with a serving spoon ( why so large?) Fiancé ordered Filet mignon which came with au gratin potatoes and green beans. The Demi glaze on the filet was over powering but the cook on the filet was perfect. Also ordered escargot in puff pastry. Served super soggy and nasty. Escargot was over cooked. After going by this place so many times I gave it a try tonight. Was a very quiet evening with only about 6 people sitting a the bar. The bar area looks very nice and seems like a very respectable place. I enjoyed the stacked chicken. Very good choice. Came with broccoli and rice. Great choice. I do have two complaints. One the restaurant can't fix. The other one they can. First, a couple at the bar were making out like there is no tomorrow and her mouth. Wow. Potty mouth potty mouth. Certainly not a lady. The other issue was the chatter between some of the waitstaff that wasn't appropriate within earshot of guests. It wasn't bad or rude, just not needed around customers. We were in Stuart for a quick getaway and with this laid back atmosphere there is nothing better to do than eat, beach,eat and repeat... We stumbled at the Black Marlin and at first I was hesitant, it was empty but with me starving, I took a shot at it and I am sooooooooo glad I did (I can still taste all the yummy dishes). Our waiter was amazing, very nice, attentive and kept our drinks coming. We ordered the Bruschetta to start and the portion was great, flavorful, tomatoes fresh and overall fresh ingredients. The house bread is so good, full of flavor, served warm. Our waiter suggested the main dish and said it was good for both of us to share and man was he right... The penne prosciutto dish was excellent, we ordered the dish with chicken. This is a large plate, full of flavor, all the ingredients were in abundant and creamy. Finger licking good (had to hold myself from licking mines). Stuart was not only a lovely place but it is full of nice little spots like the Black Marlin. They have a decent wine list. We had the korean skewers they were just steak bites with a side of korean sauce that was really sticky. Then we had the swordfish it was ok. The vegie was ice cold. Now onto the part that we couldn't get past. The service was exteremly neglectful and unprofessional. We were at the end of the bar by the server station and they all gathered discussing some staff member in detail having the flu. Didn't help my appetite after listening to that. So if you want to pay $30 for an entree and listen to kiss and guns and roses this is the place for you. read more

We came here for date night and I can't wait to go back. Everything exceeded our expectations. First we had the escargot with the puff pastry, served with a garlic cream sauce that was divine. Then we had the blackened chicken pasta topped with fried onions and the crab and shrimp pasta. Both pastas had amazing homemade sauces, and the lump crab was delicious. The black marlin was a great experience. Was seated right away by the hostess. We started with a glass of wine, seared tuna and the fried calamari. The two appetizers were both delicious! First time having seared tuna and now I am addicted! For dinner I ordered the snapper Asiago, which did not disappointing bit! Went to the Black Marlin for the 1st time since it reopened. I was set for a great meal, had the calamari as happy hour app about $7 a good portion and good tasting. Then the disappointment I order a fish sandwich$15 and my friend ordered the swordfish around $30. I struggled between giving this place three or four stars, and since there is no 3.5, I went ahead and rounded up. Everything we had on the menu was done well, save a few nit-picky observations, like slightly under seasoned breading/batter and just a little too much dressing on the salad. I do agree with some of the other previous reviewers that the fried items are exceptional. We had the fried lobster, and it was surprisingly tender and moist. Excellent. The smoked fish spread is the same Mrs. Peter's product that can be found at most of the local establishments, however each restaurant has its own additions to the base, and we found the choices offered by the Black Marlin to be pleasant. One of our children ordered the pizza, and it was surprisingly good for a seafood restaurant, more on par with a specialty pizzaria with a thin, crispy, wood-fired crust. We were a little disappointed with the number of menu offerings, BUT I must give the Chef credit, in that the menu is small enough so that the quality of each dish remains very high. Creme Brulee for desert was very good, but extremely small. We had expected to split desert, but the portion was small even for an individual serving, which was surprising considering the size of the main courses, which were generous. Prices were slightly higher than what I would expect from Stuart, but pretty close to fair for what we ordered in most major markets. Service was impeccable and friendly. read more

A nice in town restaurant. Great service and smiles by the staff. Honestly, the food was just okay but I am admittedly picky. The "wedge" that my Husband ordered came deconstructed and we thought that was odd...all in it's own compartments on one plate...great for people who don't like their food items to touch one another, lol. I had the meatloaf and it was fairly bland and I forgot that restaurants often use veal in their mixture. As I do not eat veal and I could taste it in the meatloaf, it turned me off. The service, again, was SOOOO good! It now ranks in my all time favorites. I'm obsessed with the Asiago snapper and the Wild West Rye Old Fashioned. My husband even said- you can't find a better drink on the treasure coast! If you get a chance- ask to sit in Lolly's section. She's got the best smile, laugh, and heart of gold! We had an amazing evening. We had 3 of the Happy Hour appetizers all fantastic. We followed that with the Crunchy Grouper dinner special. Absolutely delicious! Very fresh! The buerre blanc and the fresh fruit salsa made the perfect entrée. The Bananas Foster for dessert was delicious but a little disappointing that it was listed as Flambé. I went back to this place and what a disappointment. Food was fine. The older man bartender was a jerk. I couldn't believe his attitude. I bought a bottle of wine for my wife and I, and 3/4 of the way through the bottle my glass empty and he takes my glass. He didn't bother to check the bottle. He just takes my glass and that's it. I said "hey you took my glass". He grabs another glass and sits it down in front of me with an attitude. That was it for me and this place. This took place back in October, but I'm now just going through my reviews, and I had giving these guys 5 stars before. It was because he didn't wait on me. I hate to rate a restaurant based on the person serving me as the determining factor for my bad rating. But, I did read where I'm not the only one that has seen his wrath. read more

The restaurant is small, somewhat dark and intimate. This has been one of my favorite restaurants to dine in. Service is always great and I have never had a bad meal here. If you've never tried the "fried spinach" it is certainly worth trying. And in season, you will want to go a little early to avoid the crowds. I would recommend this restaurant highly. read more

Everything was delcious. The steak was probably the best steak my husband had in awhile. The fried grouper appetizer was very fresh! The grilled shrimp entree special was superb, as was the grilled pork tenderloin with the whole grain mustard beurre blanc.
