I also had a chocolate croissant and omg it was so buttery and fluffy I wish it was bigger so I could have more! Friendly and very well made drinks. Multiple people in our group commented on how amazing the froth and smoothness was for the almond milk lattes. We ordered about 25 drinks Sunday morning on Mother's Day and the staff took it all in stride, reconfirmed my order, and got to work! I don't think they realized quite how many drinks were in my order as the first few that came out weren't labeled. I asked for a marker to do so and she kindly rejected me saying she would be glad to do it as part of her job. Came here for the coffee while down town one day and ended up coming back the next day for another great coffee and breakfast sandwich! Their coffee is excellent, my partner said he had one of the best lattes he had had in a while and that it was super smooth. The charcuterie breakfast sandwich caught my eye and though I thought it seemed pricy I still got it. The bagel sandwich was on the smaller size but wow was it made up of great quality ingredients - the bagel it self was great, the salami was amazing quality, the honey cream cheese was perfectly balanced etc! read more

I made a morning pit stop at Healdsburg to attend a wedding and stumbled upon Black Oak. It's a super cute coffee shop and the workers here are really nice. I ordered the matcha latte with oat milk and it was definitely a great and much needed pick me up. Easily the best coffee in Healdsburg. Tried espresso shots of their single origin bean as well as their normal blend (Red). Both shots were pulled very well. Their normal blend was definitely a more chocolatey, rounded out shot while the Colombian single origin was a bit more refined with a crisper finish. Both of high quality. Black Oak Coffee took over the same corner location near the Healdsburg plaza that once housed the dearly departed Flying Goat Coffee (although "Baby Goat," next to the old movie theatre across the street, is still open limited hours). This place is as popular with locals as well as tourists, for good reason. Inside, Black Oak looks very much the same as Flying Goat -- table set-up is the same, long counter near the cash register, yep, that's there, too. The coffee is also just as good -- the baristas know how to make a proper cappuccino, which is a shot or two of espresso, a little milk, and A LOT of foam. Makes for a strong coffee drink, which is perfect for a coffee snob like me. Black Oak also offers fancier fare, such as Lovers Lane Latte, which has bee pollen and local wildflower honey, as well as food, like pastries (+1 for gluten-free options) and breakfast burritos. Service is friendly and professional and besides seating indoors, there's also some high tables and chairs outside, in the alleyway next door. I've done it. I have finally done it. I have found my all time favorite coffee shop. Congratulations Black Oak!! Why must you be so far away! Right in the Healdsburg square lies this wonderful coffee shop. I live and work in Sacramento but our sister office is located in Healdsburg. I was there training for two days when I decided to have some lunch in the square. The places I wanted to eat at were all closed weirdly enough but it ended up leading me Black Oak and I couldn't be happier. It was fairly busy for lunch but I was able to get a table. I ordered the breakfast burrito which came out piping hot and was so delicious! Their bakery case was also mouthwatering and I knew I had to try something! The last taking my order was really helpful and recommended a blueberry scone. It wasn't overly sweet which was perfect for me and I loved it! They also have gluten free pastries! They had a gingerbread holiday special that I just had to try! It was love at first sip! It even came with a cute little gingerbread cookie! I ended up back in the area about 3 weeks later and had to go back! I got a spiced latte which made me fall in love all over again and I left with two bags of beans. First off let me say the best thing about Black Oak, which is that you can make any drink blended. Their dulce de leche drink was my favorite of the drinks I tried. The Mexican Mocha was also good but the Peanut Butter Mocha had more of a muddled flavor. We got a bag of their dark roast which was so good! read more

What a great spot! Didn't stay and hangout long here (30min), was on a schedule. Super close from the hotel we stayed at. We arrived about 10ish in morning and it was quite filled and packed. Got the lavender latte (one with oat milk) and just one of their muffins. Loved the latte and I could smell the lavender. Workers were friendly. Decent pricing. This is an update on the dirty chai latte... they changed their chai recently and it's more of an "herbal" classic chai which affects the overall taste of the dirty chai latte. I still love Black Oak but their Dirty Chai Latte isn't my top choice. Lattes are solid. Chocolate chip cookie recipe seems to have changed too. Much thicker. And crumbly. read more

Replaced the Flying Goat coffee shop that was the previous tenant. Honestly the Black Oak coffee is not as satisfying. My Americano tasted over-roasted, almost burnt tasting. I usually do not put sugar in my coffee. This cup required sugar to make it drinkable. Upside is that the caffeine hit was just the right amount. Sparked me up without giving the jitters or motor mouth. Flying Goat moved down the street next to the now shuttered Raven movie theater. If you like a smoother cup with a more floral flavor go there instead. read more

This was my BF's favorite spot on our trip to Healdsberg. We rented bikes and rode by our first day and we tried it the following morning. Clearly a town favorite, lots of people were there in the morning. The menu is simple but also delicious, the black coffee is strong, no complaints. Came here after breakfast to get coffee and I couldn't resist but staying because I loved hanging out for a little bit with the bright windows and high ceilings. It was pretty packed so I was lucky to snag a table which seems like a lot of them have been occupied with students. I got the lavender latte which was creamy and smooth, with a hint of lavender. This coffee shop is an hour away from my house and so worth the trip! I stumbled in because I am a sucker for a cute entryway photo opp. The huge COFFEE above their door was an immediate draw. Inside is a beautiful, calming and modern aesthetic - immediately drawing you in and making you want to stay awhile. While you wait, there are fresh coffee beans, merch and even plants to shop! The gentleman who helped me was in such a great mood, helped me with my choices and was the one who made my delicious coffee. I opted for a seasonal fall drink and it was so delicious. I wish I remembered what it was called. I also tried the breakfast burrito - I was delighted to find the inside full of roasted peppers. Ps. Seeing what they had here, a smile lit up my face! We ordered: LATTE - two shots, great foam, rich smooth caramely flavor. Very good! CREME BRÛ-LATTE - Beautiful latte, torched caramelized sugar crust on the top! I love creme brûlée--this drink lived up to my hopeful expectations, fabulous!! MATCHA CHIA SEED PUDDING - just ok for me. Not sure what to expect, but kinda bland for my tastebuds. ROB'S JAM BISCUIT - Thumbprint biscuit with a blop of raspberry jam in the middle. A biscuit is always on drier side, good paired with coffee. EGGS BENEDICT TARTINE - toasted open faced slice of sourdough, topped with soft poached eggs, thin shaving of ham, and perfect hollandaise sauce (they described it as "perfect"--it was!). I came in to take a look at the aesthetic ambiance and left with a great bag of beans and a coffee for the road. There beans are well-priced for single origin medium-light roast. The 12 oz iced Lover's lane latte wasn't too sweet and didn't overpower the espresso (which is usually an issue when I get a lavender/honey/sweet latte somewhere else). I've been brewing espressos at home for a week now using their Honduras Roaster's Reserve. With the recipe dialed in, it coffee has such a great sweet taste with complementary chocolate notes. read more

I love the atmosphere here.The barista taking our order was great and very kind. This is located near Healdsburg Plaza with a modern decor. I am a sucker for modern interiors and I really loved it in here. I was enjoying it so much I didn't take any interior pictures! Tables were about 70% full and it was a Thursday late morning. My sister asked the barista what's a Gibraltar was and he explained it so kindly. He also said favorite is the lavender and so that's what I ordered. The lavender latte has nice coffee flavor and the lavender taste was the perfect amount. I've had lavender lattes where they tasted like a bath and so I've been put off from lavender lattes for a while. This is a redemption to that bad lavender latte. read more
