I was disappointed by my most recent visit. Over the years, this restaurant seems to have moved in a direction that offers less value for a higher price. One of my favorite menu items, the "Super Duo" featuring filet medallions and bubbling shrimp, is no longer available. The closest alternative is an 8-ounce filet with five jumbo shrimp added separately, but it is not the same experience. In addition, what once included two sides now comes with only one, and even simple additions such as baked potato toppings carry an extra charge. I understand that food and operating costs have increased, but when a menu item is priced just under $50, I would expect a more complete dining experience--at the very least, a house salad included with the meal. Since meals are cooked on a hot stone at the table, I also found myself cutting the filet into smaller pieces to help it cook more evenly. For what it was, it was fine, though they need help with organizing and planning for a Mother's Day brunch. Our reservation was early to avoid the big rush, which worked fine. We sat on the patio at a high top. It was a nice side area away from the Smokey dining room and near the setup buffet. It's brighter with a nice fireplace and TVs. We were greeting by our server (Cam?) and she was great for our whole visit. Walking up to the buffet, it was in a cramped area with an odd layout. It made it inefficient for people to get their food and move along. They had eggs, bacon and sausage, potatoes, French toast sticks, biscuits and gravy, Alfredo pasta, black rock chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, chicken nuggets, shrimp scampi, coconut shrimp, ribs and salad. The desserts and fruit were in the dining room set up on the end of the bar. Brownies, apple crisp, fresh fruit, and GFS mini pastries. The food was good, except for the eggs. The eggs were powdered or seriously over cooked sitting on the hot bar, full of water. The drink specials, and shrimp options made up for it. We had the $6 steak add-on and I did order the comp Lobster bisque. All in all I would recommend as an affordable holiday brunch option but make sure you sit in the patio. This place gets mixed reviews on Yelp and I honestly don't see myself cooking my own steak, but it's different and I thought the food was good, overall. Some things really good, (shrimp appetizer, chicken sandwich, Cesar salad) something's ok (Ahi appetizer) but in total a good experience. The Happy Hour specials are great. And in general the prices are extremely reasonable. The service was good and I really give the owners credit for diversity hires. Let's start this off by saying it was packed when i came for my girlfriends birthday. We had a 45-minute wait to be seated. Once we were seated, it took another 15 minutes to be greeted and watered. Once our waitress did make it to us, she was impeccable with attentiveness. She also helped explain the menu and process to us in depth. She was great. We noticed trivia on one of the tvs and played along as our drinks came. Here is where it starts to decline. I realize the gimmick is that we cook our food, and insects are attracted to meat products. So, i understand if i see a few flies, it is no big deal. However, there were so many fruit flies and gnats flying around that it was hard not to try and fan your personal space or food. One landed in my french onion soup, and i joked about it with my girlfriend.... the whole "waiter there is a fly in my soup" deal. We scooped him out, killed a few more prior to our entree. But throughout our meal, it was no less than 20+ in our area. It was extremly distracting and ruined our experience. At one point i even changed my trivia name to fruit fly.... Im unsure if it was a manager or food runner that brought our food, but he again checked our temperature on how to cook the food and what sauces he preferred. My husband and I tried this place at the recommendation of someone we know. It was a big airy restaurant. When we went, a Sunday night, it was not very busy and we were seated right away. Although it was a high top table that was not very comfortable if you are wearing a dress. :) We ordered the lobster dip and it was not good. It was so oily and greasy that it was not edible. The pita chips were good but the dip was tasteless and so oily that it wasn't worth it. We got the crab cakes which were good. I also enjoyed my dirty martini. We ordered a filet and cooked it on our "black rock." It was cool for the first few times but then started to feel like too much work. I did enjoy most of the dips though. I realized that I don't want to go out to eat and have to cook my own food. However, it was cool to experience it once. We will go back but when we do, we will just have them cook our food and no dip. read more

Our food came out quickly and the service was amazing. I tried their 6oz signature Black Rock steak. I was a little nervous about cooking it myself, but our waitress walked me through it. Highly recommend adding health dollops of butter while it cooks (it's what they do in the kitchen). I also ordered the soup flight as a side. I had their French onion, clam chowder, and tomato basil. The French onion stole the show. Both the chowder and tomato soups had a bit of a kick to them (which I like), but the French onion was full of melty, cheesy goodness. The only downside is that the flight comes in smaller bowls (to be expected), but they're overflowing with soup and a little messy. That being said, I would rather have the mess than be lacking in soup! I had the mashed potatoes as the other side. They tasted like instant mash, but paired well with the steak. My husband ordered the volcano shrimp tacos. The slaw and shrimp were both good, but he wasn't sure how he felt about them together. The slaw didn't have a lot of dressing, so he felt like he was eating plain cabbage, which isn't what he expected. The tacos were so stuffed that they were difficult to eat (not complaining!) so he used a fork to eat the slaw before eating the shrimp and tortilla separately. For dessert, we ordered the giant, flaming strawberry volcano. They don't get a one star because their beer was good. They get a two star because when the steaks were brought out with the stones, the stones were nowhere near hot enough. If you read their menus, it says to cook each side for seconds only to get your steaks the way you like them. WELL, AFTER TEN MINUTES ON THE STONES, OUR STEAKS WERE ALMOST COOKED. Not cooked, almost cooked. Never mind searing the steak, just cooking them to medium rare. After ten minutes on the rocks that were advertised to be over 700 degrees, our steaks were still rare. I called the waiter to show him how the steaks were barely cooking. He said he would get another stone. I said no, you will get another stone and another steak. He did. Showed up a few minutes later with a new steak and stone. Once again, the stone was not hot enough. Definitely took ten minutes to cook the second steak medium rare. If it was over 700 degrees as advertised, it would have been seconds. Got the bill. Full price. We paid it, gave a tip, and said to ourselves, we are not coming back. read more
