Easily my go to for a consistent delightful beverage in sizes ranging from small to extra large. Sometimes you just need that extra large drink! I've tried several different coffee drinks and they've all been good but my favorite is the Iced Irish. It is the perfect treat and I never have to ask for any customizations with this drink. The lil rockers hot cocoa for kids comes in a cute cup that can be reused. I've never had a bad experience at any of the locations and employees are friendly but not in an overly friendly fake way that makes you regret pulling up to the window. I will say the prices are a bit high compared to others so I don't go here as often as I'd like to but when I get a craving I'm willing to spend the $ for it. read more

This morning, my friends and I drove through this location after needing an energy drink from an early morning start. Black Rock is still foreign to me so I was excited to try a new drink! While waiting in the drive-through, we saw a poster saying that when you sign up for the app, you get a free drink so I signed up and my friends signed up using their existing phone number not knowing that they ever had an app. When we get up to the window, we were greeted by an extremely rude lady with brown hair accompanied by a guy with glasses, as I give my phone number to get reward points she told me my total was around 5 dollars and no other comments, so I proceed to pay not thinking anything of it since she NEVER mentioned a free drink or anything. After I paid I overheard her turn to the guy with glasses saying "they're not paying" I was confused since I had just paid for my food and drink so I thought. She had also turned to another girl who was shaking my blended drink and proceeded to say "don't shake it she's not even paying for it." We give the other 2 phone numbers for my friend and she never mentioned free drinks just used them, my friends and I were more than willing to pay but nothing was ever mentioned except "they're not even paying" under her breath to her other co workers. She then proceeded to comment about my car saying "driving a nice car and not paying is crazy." (saying that I should be able to afford a drink driving a nice car) After receiving the three drinks the man with the glasses told us to stop using the "free sign up drink" I tried to explain that it was completely foreign to us and I understand if people use it to get away with free drinks but the way the situation was handled was offensive and could've been handled differently. Seeing THEY'RE advertising that is posted everywhere at their establishment and newley downloading the app to then drinks purposefully being messed up and treated extremely rudely when getting drinks is something my friends and I enjoy in the morning when we can was kind of ruined. I get it people have bad days but commenting on my car and assuming what I can and cannot afford was really offending when it could've completely been avoided at all costs. I've never had the BEST experience at this location but I HIGHLY recommend to stay far from it you might get judged just trying to buy a drink lol!! read more

A friend/co-worker suggested we stop by here on our way back from lunch one day, and I'm glad he did. This is his go-to place apparently, but I really liked it too. The vibe was awesome! Not all snobbed out like those guys who shall remain nameless! Bright, roomy, kind of a stainless steel motif, if you will. I imagine turning wrenches in between rounds of expresso shots! The coffee? Finally got a chance to visit Black Rock Coffee Bar in Mesa! The turn off is pretty quick once you're on Power Road, so be on the look out! Black Rock Coffee Bar is a cool, hipster-vibe cafe. They offer classic coffee items, such as the americano, drip, latte, and mocha. They then have the "premium" coffee menu where you can get some interesting special combos and flavors, like the "blackout," which is a hazelnut mocha. They also offer drinks without espresso and have a children's menu for drinks like hot coco, smoothies, juice and milkshakes. They come in these small cute cups and they add a dollop of whip cream at the end of the straw as a special treat for the little ones. If you're not interested in getting out of your car, they have a drive-thru window for you to order your coffee on the go. If you opt to drink and sit for awhile, they have a moderate amount of seating consisting of some small and large tables, a couch section with low coffee tables, and a couple single seats. There aren't many outlets, so if you're looking to do a lot of computer work, you only really have 2 options, one small table and one long table with about 4 outlets. Internet is free, but you will have to ask for the password from the barista. Since it's close to a couple campuses, the barista did mention that it's usually filled with students studying from time-to-time. In addition to their drink menu, they offer some bottled drinks in their cooler, as well as some food items to fill your stomach, such as muffins and bagels. If you're looking to represent the establishment, they sell some cute apparel, including snapback hats, shirts, zip-up hoodies, HydroFlasks with their logo, and various mugs and cups. Great coffee, great staff, great merchandise, great furniture, great aesthetic, great bathroom lights... You get the picture! I'm glad this location is only 13 min away from me because I definitely want to come back!!! There were so many flavors and options I wanted to try, but I'd jumped straight to the Fuel for a long long day of studying--and LONG day it was. 6 shots across ALL SIZES! This is a graduate student's dream come true I tell ya. Next time I think I want to try something with lavender! Perhaps an Italian ice or a lemonade!!! Only thing I'd make note of that wasn't great (although not bad at all)- the music seemed to be really loud at times?? I don't usually notice since I work with headphones on, but I heard it really clearly at times, particularly when it got CROWDED (Friday around 3-4ish). Update from their opening: The outlet situation has improved! They have a huge extension cord which multiple outlets in the middle area. It doesn't add to the aesthetics of the area, but I'll take it. Additionally, the place isn't too crowded so I had no trouble grabbing the prime table with the outlet. The chairs have small backrests which are pretty low. The coffee is still just as good as the first time. The wifi is secured, they have a password with no time limit. read more

Everytime I come to Black Rock, location doesn't matter, the customer service is atrocious. No one ever greets, there's usually a group of employees standing around, or maybe they are working, but can't be bothered to acknowledge someone new walking in. At least a look up and a "hi, give me minute" would suffice. The ambience is so upbeat, but your employees definitely don't reflect that. Happened upon this place while I was waiting for my fiancé to get his haircut at the Sports Clips next door. What a pleasant find! Very modern and sleek interior with plenty of seating. They have large and small tables as well as a few couches and plush chairs to hang out in. I got one of their drip coffees and it was delicious! I've heard tons of great things about this place; they, like many smaller chains, seem to have a bit of a cult following. The flavors on their menu look innovative and delicious. So what's the issue? Well... I'd call it coffee drinks for people who don't really appreciate coffee. I'd be interested in trying the different blends they roast and sell in my own coffee setup, but the drinks they sell are way too sweet and creamy, with the espresso not being too great. The cold brew also leaves something to be desired. How do you make cold brew that isn't inherently robust? No idea. I like drinking cold brew black, I don't want to hide the flavor in a syrup to make it enjoyable. The service is great, this is nothing personal. I just wish I could have genuinely great coffee and not syrup and half & half with a couple of mediocre shots. If you like sweet milky drinks, great! I like them once in a while myself! We love black rock coffee. It's a place where the coffee is actually good. I also like another popular coffee chain but let's be honest, I really just like their overly sugary drinks and chocolate milk. Where as at Black rock the coffee is actually decent. The one thing I wish they would do is get a flipping thermometer for their hot drinks. I've literally never seen one ever be used so I can only assume they don't have one. Last couple of times I've come through the drive through, the employees have been incredibly awkward and uncomfortable. Very unfriendly. Yesterday when I rolled through, the girl asked me if I wanted to leave an optional tip and I said no and she practically flung the drinks at me. What do you need a tip for? Went to the new BR on south power, been opened for about 3-4 weeks. Wanted to get a couple small sandwiches and two coffees. They were out of everything to make any type of sandwich which they should of put up a sign so i didn't have to stand in line for 20 minutes. Reluctantly just got two coffees. I suffer from a medical defect that makes me be a little strange. They took no consideration to my condition and they took the cowerdly aproach by calling the police. They could have just asked me to leave and stay away. They can say whatever they want but it does not make it right. I had been going there for months and i think it was the combination of my tattoos and talking to myself. So I guess I got a little spoiled. My regular black rock location on Crismon made it too hard for other locations to live up to their high standards. This location is way slower and they have gotten my order wrong a number of times. The product is still great it's just the service that is lacking. A lot of the workers need retraining. When the person repeats back your 1 drink order, and it's exactly what you and they still get it wrong at the window, something is really wrong. Ok, another thing they do is not use the speaker box. It seems a good portion of the day they have it so you go to the window to order. As anyone can tell you this slows thing up dramatically!! I was waited a good 15 minutes just to get to the window to then order and wait even longer. I don't know what is going on in this location but the manager needs to remedy this ASAP. read more

This specific store is still our favorite as it seems to be the most consistent and they still make my favorite drink, the Peach Cobbler (which BR needs to bring back along with the Strawberry Shortcake!) Best coffee I've had in forever!... and I tour basically every coffee shop everywhere. The actual taste of the coffee is phenomenal AND they have a large number of flavors that are regular and also sugar free (more than Starbucks and other popular coffee houses.) The best part is these flavors actually taste really really good! The sugar free flavors don't taste weird and fake. All milk alternatives are also served.
