Just went thru the drive thru. The girl handing the drinks out was fine. It was the bossy black / red (or maroon) highlighted haired girl who was VERY unprofessional and rude. Especially bossing the girl around at the window. We asked for cold chocolate milk, NO ICE when ordering. The rude girl said "please let them know they need to ask for "cold pour" cause no ice is $0.75 extra." Uh okay. We did ask for no ice when ordering. She was just totally rude in her approach. Black Rock usually has very nice staff. But that one girl should not be working there and made this location look bad. read more

Black Rock is really awesome when it comes to the design of the shop! With the wood walls and the concrete floor it is every hipsters favorite hang out. The Wifi is actually pretty fast as well, if you need to get some homework done and need a place to turn that last minute paper in, I would recommend doing it here at Black Rock. I got the White Mocha and it was alright. There could have been a little bit more whip cream. But the temperature was spot on. Not to hot, I'm not a big fan of burning my taste buds. They do need to get some sort of fly trap though. The front door is a big garage door they open. They have a big fan that blows to keep flies out. But, they are still getting in. And they are ANNOYING. I'm sitting here writing this swatting them off me and my coffee. All in all if you are looking for a decent cup of coffee and some fast internet, I would recommend this place. 2 times where I have placed an online pick up order and my order has sat in the "making" stage and never says "ready" I don't have time to sit and wait the 20+ minutes it takes whoever to process the already placed order. Wasted over $20 being unable to grab my paid for drinks before work! Hope Black Rock can make up for this or reimburse. Every time I also try to add "feedback" on the app it also never works. What a cool place. Drive through line was insane when we arrived around 11a. We opted to go inside where there was no wait, and I'm glad we did. Interior is really fun- the lighting, the wide door letting in a fresh breeze, and endless, delicious smells of coffee and pastries. The menu is typical for a coffee spot except for a couple of items. Black Rock has their own in-house energy drink FUEL. There are sugar-free and organic options of this drink but you can also add flavor shots to the energy drink, poured over ice. It's a great concept and I could see the drive thru team pouring several in the time it took us to place our order. I tried the iced Caramel Blondie no whip and it was delicious. Most drinks can be served hot, iced or blended. There are pastry options as well- scones, muffins, rolls, and Chompie's bagels. Good stuff. The baristas are fast and eager to help you with an order. Don't be afraid to ask questions! BR does an excellent job of branding- I've seen car stickers everywhere with the "BR" logo- and the store has shirts, bags and hats for purchase as well. I feel like there's been a strong grass roots campaign for this coffee bar, and now it makes sense. The drinks are excellent and the store vibe is great. This location is one of the worst. Every time we come our order is wrong. We always order a cold brew and get charged for it and somehow always end up with just regular coffee. Today my husband stop by on his way home from my step sons soccer game and they charged him for an XL cold brew which is what he ordered and he used one of our free drinks and they gave us a regular iced coffee which is quite a price difference. i come to black rock almost every day it is my favorite place! but this is the 2nd time this has happened where my drink tastes like cleaning supplies, it tastes so bad i took one sip and was near another location & am now buying a new one:( i order the same fuel flavor everytime and this is the 2nd time the flavor has been very wrong & tasted disgusting. the workers are always nice but sad i have to buy a new one. read more

What happened to BRC??? I'm talking about the location in North Scottsdale on Bell near Thompson Peak. Went through the drive thru and got my usual Mexican Moca expecting to get my coffee reward (claimed it online last night) and was charged full price. When I brought it to the attention of the server, she said she'd get me next time. ‍ Not sure how that works. But it only gets worse. I thought the cup felt lighter than normal for a medium sized coffee and low and behold, when I opened the lid, it was half full. Had always wanted to try the other Black Rock location but never got to it, but now it's right down the street from me! Tldr; good coffee, friendly people, nice environment. I went for the grand opening today where all 16 oz. drinks are free so we got three chillers (blended): Oreo, Irish Coffee, and Blackout. The Irish Coffee and Blackout were their premium drinks but they graciously offered to blend it. The 20 minute wait in line for our drinks were so worth it! It was amazing to not have crushed ice in or blended drinks, something Starbucks needs to work on. Also, the flavor wasn't overwhelming and the coffee is delicious. There wasn't any food to try but I saw the display cases for them so they might have some soon? The drinks are not super cheap nor very expensive, about the same as all the other coffee shops. Better than the drinks were the staff and the environment. When we were in line, one of the employees explained to us how the drinks are categorized and how they can be ordered. Up at the cash register, Jasmine was super sweet when I asked her about blending my drinks which weren't listed as chillers of the menu. She let me know that they will have punch cards and soon, loyalty cards. Everyone was upbeat and cheerful and friendly, definitely brought a smile to my face. Lastly, I know that this will be a new study spot for me because of the seating, the decor, and the music! They have a wall that boldly says "Fuel your story" and the furniture is beautiful. It was a treat to discover this location on our way to Queen Creek. I love the open concept. You can enjoy the great weather when the shop has the large garage door open. I ordered a small Blackout (hazelnut mocha) and my husband (who only ever orders specialty drinks at Black Rock) got a Jackhammer. Neither drink was overly sweet, but they both packed a caffeine punch and were smooth and creamy. You can purchase their specialty coffee beans as well as other swag from Black Rock. I've loved this place since I discovered them in Portland a few years ago. It's pretty great that I don't have to fly 3 hours for it anymore. read more

Bookmarked Black Rock before my trip out to watch spring training and this place did not disappoint. Located on the corner of a pretty busy street with a huge area for indoor seating, outdoor seating and a drive through. The menu was simple and easy enough to read but the baristas are also super patient and able to answer any questions we had. I tried their caramel truffle coffee iced with soy milk and it was divine. I recently have just switched from my usual Starbucks & Dutch Bros to Black Rock Coffee and so far my fiancé and I are pretty impressed and pleased. We love how they make their coffee I like mine not too strong and they make theirs just right, Caramel Blondie Blended is our favorite we also get smoothies from there for my son and ourselves and we love all their flavors from Mango, Strawberry Banana, and Green apple. YUM!!! Recently my fiancé had ordered me a strawberry banana from black rock and the sweet girl at the drive thru was sweet enough to give us credit for our purchase from before because they had forgotten to ask for our number for our loyalty though she didn't have to it was our fault to for not mentioning. Anyways when I got my smoothie it was looking watered down and almost like a slushee and not like a smoothie, so my fiancé had taken it back in and explained to them why we couldn't take it and with no questions he said someone got right on it and made us an entirely new smoothie and it was 110% better tasting and looking. I was not at all upset I just figured they might have been really busy and was making it in a rush, but both my fiancé and I were very pleased at how the staff handled it in such a pleasant manner. Ended up with an iced decaf which was bomb and extra kudos for having iced decaf on deck (Starbucks didn't last time I was there.) It wasn't 5 stars for me just because they didn't offer heavy cream as an option, and that is integral to the keto/low carb coffee drink. The 4 stars are for the friendly staff, quick service, and their coffee must be good since they are pretty popular and busy. I'm subtracting a star because their iced chai tea is one of the worst I've had. I don't drink coffee but love my chai tea. The first time I bought one here, it mostly tasted like milk/soy milk, not really much flavor. Thought I'd try again today as I'm waiting on a pedicure next door. Even worse, tastes like milk with a coffee after taste. I'll likely stop in again sometime and try a different drink since they are close to my house and I wanted them to be my go-to beverage stop. Would be awesome if they'd up the game a little on the chai tea. Update: already have an update. A kind, understanding, and apologetic team member who I immensely appreciate. Taking from her own time to call me and make sure they get my complaint resolved. She listens and addresses my concerns. She told me what BR is doing to avoid this to happens to any other customers in the future. That's real customer service. She went above and beyond for a customer. That is what makes them the best.
