Passed by this location as we were headed to Costco to get gas before heading back home to California. My bestie that lives locally is always raving about Black Rock so I wanted to check it out. Plenty of parking available but it was also just before 10am on a Monday morning. No line when we walked in. Just a few tables taken by what looked to be a few guys working. The cashier was SUPER patient with us as first timers trying to figure out what to order. We settled on a French toast breve, an iced caramel blondie, and a sunrise fuel. My favorite was definitely the French toast breve...it wasn't overly sweet but was full of flavor. The caramel blondie was average. The sunrise fuel was the perfect pick-me-up for my non-coffee loving teenage son. We'll definitely stop in again the next time we're in town visiting my parents. read more

Meh.. I tried this place out because I saw it everywhere and never been before. I thought I'd baptize myself with a drink, hoping to like it. Sadly, I wasn't impressed. =( I love the vibe and the energy the place exudes on the inside and out, but my drink was just lacking in flavor. I ordered a Blended Caramel Truffle with Oatmilk. I'm not sure if they just put too much ice or what, but I could barely taste the caramel. I normally tend to shy away from "blended" drinks because this is usually the result when I get one. Icy. Slushy. Blah. The service was a bit slow, even though they had a bunch of workers. I'm willing to give it another go, but this visit fell short! Came through the drive through on Sunday, Sept 21 at 12pm and ordered an iced latte with coconut milk. When I got to the window the girl called out a coconut latte, so I stopped to confirm she had made a latte with coconut milk and not a latte with coconut syrup. She said she did and handed it to me. I drove off only to find that she lied. And it was a latte with regular milk, and coconut sugary syrup. And being dairy intolerant, I couldn't drink it. And couldn't go back at that point. Not too mention, I hate sugary syrup in my coffee, yuck If you make a mistake on a drink, please just own it and remake it. It's not a big deal to remake a drink. And greatly appreciated to make sure you get it right. Don't make me pay for a coffee that I cannot drink because you're embarrassed to admit you messed up. read more

I always go to the BR on Octollio Rd (Queen Creek) but I was minutes away from this location on Walnut Rd (Queen Creek) I ordered via app for pickup asap which in photo you can see I placed it at 12:46 and p/u time was 12:51, I came in at 12:56 waiting in line with other couples that were waiting to make order, there were 3 ladies working at the bar area, took them over a minute to acknowledge us customers at counter waiting. One came to take order from the couple, then the other at the espresso bar asked if I was in for p/u and I said yes giving her my name, she instantly looked at monitor above espresso machine and started making my order which was 12:59 (as I snap shot my app photo of time I got my order made to show it was 8minutes passed the time it should be ready but wasn't made until I said yes to p/u) there were 2 different groups inside at the table already with their drinks, then the couple at counter waiting to order when I walked in, it was not even busy at all for my drink to not be made on time, and it is not positive vibe to walk into when not greeted walking in or waiting at counter. I also mentioned to the lady that took order from couple as she asked if I've been helped yet, that my order was supposed to be ready at 12:51 and she saw it was 8 minutes passed, she handed my drink over and said thank you, but never an apology for the delay. I stop here everyday on my way to the office because they make the best Americano! I also enjoy their jalapeño cheddar bagel and the blackberry pop tart. The modern styling inside is cool and it feels more updated than a Starbucks. But honestly I can't say enough about that staff!! They probably don't know it but after having to get my teenager up and ready for school and pushing to leave on time (teenagers are difficult), they are always a breathe of fresh air and they help set the tone for my day. Black Rock is always a staple for me when seeking out a cold brew, or hot cafe mocha. I love that they are expanding so I can enjoy on adventures around The Valley. This location in Queen Creek makes a great cold brew, and the barista with the tablet talking my order was super friendly. This visit was just through the drive thru, but the exterior was very clean. Stopped in for a quick afternoon pick me up while visiting Arizona. I got a cold brew with cold foam and my spouse got a mint chocolate chiller. I come here to study about 2-3 times a week. I really do enjoy spending my work days here but as of recently it's been just wayyy to hot, it's hard to even focus. I have asked the workers if there is any way they can adjust the temperature and they sadly said they have no control of it. Poor workers having to work in 80 degree environments when its over 100 degrees outside! I can at least go home but they have to stay here. After the last few weeks i am removing 4 of the 5 stars i gave this location. This morning is what made up my mind to never spend another dollar here. (I was buying at-least 9 drinks a week) Tell the girls at the windows to stop making conversation with people in the drive through. It creates lines, its extremely rude to everyone waiting in line, and its an efficiency killer for your coffee production. My wife and i sat in the drive through behind the guy at the window for 9 minutes after we ordered while the girl at the window talked to the customer in front of us. That same customer was already at the window talking to her before we even entered the parking lot. So maybe a 12+ minute conversation? There were easily 3-5 people inside making drinks, so its not like we were waiting for his single drink to be made. Never again. read more

Taste, drink options, drive-thru, and price. Probably some of the more important categories when deciding where to spend your money on the seemingly growing list of local coffee shops. To me, Black Rock tends to float to the top in most of these areas. I've been to several locations but QC is my home base coffee bar- and there definitely is consistently in the categories. Drive-thru is typically very fast (who wants to wait forever for their caffeine fix, am I right?), and the variety is great- from drip to espresso to energy drinks, it's all there. I prefer the iced Mexican mocha- that flavor profile of cinnamon and vanilla is so damn good. The caramel blondie is a great latte with lots of sweetness if that's your thing. I've yet to try the energy drink but eventually need to do that. There are a few food options that are locally sourced (bagels, muffins, etc.) and I've enjoyed the couple things I've ordered in the past. Staff is always super friendly, and overly willing to help guide you to your perfect drink. There's a reward club so make sure to sign up for great deals that are texted to you. After every handful of drinks you're eligible for a free one, what a deal! The QC location has never made an order wrong, the lines always run smoothly, and the inside has plenty of room to stretch, join the wifi and get some things done on your laptop and/or smart devices. With my experience with Black Rock has been positive. I am not a coffee drinker nor will I ever understand why the sheep's are willing to wait in a long line for a overpriced drink. With that said, my mother has been in town for Christmas. Since she is a coffee enthusiast we have stopped by Black Rock a few times. Not exactly sure what drink she orders? Something like merican coffee with some kind of mexican cream? Whatever it is, she loves it. My wife loves their caramel mocha ice drink. Since it was a cold evening, I ordered a hot cocoa. I myself was not impressed with the hot cocoa. I have had much better at other establishments and including at my own house. The service there has been amazing. They are very courteous and thoughtful. Like I said beforehand, I am not a coffee enthusiast you won't see me at any of these coffee shops. However, mom and wife loves Black Rock.
