I've frequented Black Rock, but have never been to this location. This morning, I swung by for a coffee and breakfast, and it was a great experience! My coffee (large iced caramel blondie) was suuuuper delicious. Caramel, creamy and sweet - all good things. Plus, their large is an *actual* large! More coffee for your buck. The breakfast sandwich I got (sausage, egg, and cheese on an English muffin) was phenomenal - WAAAAAY better than I was expecting. I assumed it would be mid but it was very much not. The eggs were fluffy, the English muffin was toasty and fresh, and the sausage and cheese were perfection. I ordered from their app, but I did get there early and saw them interact with customers at the counter. The service was super friendly and helpful. I will say they forgot about my order or didn't see it lol but the dude behind the counter checked in when he noticed me and got my order to me. There's not *too* much parking, but the drive thru moves quickly and inside, there's looooots of seating. Music plays and the lighting is warm. It feels very welcoming and somewhere I can see spending time or catching up with friends. All in all, yeah! Give this location a try! read more

I stopped in this morning and got one of their specials - the matcha macaron latte. I didn't get much of a macaron flavor from it but I enjoyed the matcha latte. The staff was nice and pretty fast. There's plenty of seating inside and a cool mural on the entrance wall. read more

I LOVE this place. My go to stop in AZ. Th staff is always very kind and welcoming and the vibe in there just seems great. My favorite drinks are the peach matcha chiller, the Mexican mocha, and Oreo chiller. I have yet to try others because those are just that amazing. Depending on the season I will go with cold or hot but they never miss here! I wish they had more in Oregon and WA. read more

I am ashamed to say that I neglected this place for a couple years. I am so glad that I found my way back to it today! A lot has changed within a couple years, including the app, the points system for the rewards program, and my gift card expired. Thankfully, the gentleman who helped me gave me all of the instructions I needed to hopefully get my balance back. I also asked him what the current seasonal specials are, and he did recommend a couple good options. I decided on the seasonal Peppermint Bark Blonde. It is dddddelicious!! Drive-thru service is great and quick as it should. Although, speaker was not working during my time of visit, order was taken at the window instead but didn't take too long as I went in the afternoon around 4. I wish I grabbed the young gentleman's name for a shout-out. He was quick from collecting and preparing the Blended Mexican Mocha (SO good) order on top of making conversation. I wanted to try the coffee here since I've heard good things about it. No line in the drive thru, do today was the day to try. I'm not a huge coffee aficionado as I usually just use my Keurig at home so when we got up to the ordering sign I wasn't sure what to get. The sign was dirty from recent rain so I couldn't use that to choose so I just picked a real basic coffee. The girl at the window was so nice, even with a bee buzzing her head. That was stressing me out, I can't imagine how she felt. I explained my situation and she was so nice and made me a second coffee of her favorite flavor just so I could try it! Not recommended. Probably my third or fourth time going here. The coffee is good (I had the caramel latte with oatmilk large, I'm not sure what my friend had around 11 am today but the service was lacking. We were the only people in line and they had staff working the drive through and coffee station so I am not sure why the girl that took our order was rushed, no smile, no pleasantries just, is that all, over and over again. God forbid we should ask for a nondairy milk option for our lattes. She did not seem to be happy working today. We asked for a towel to dry the outside tables after the rain and no effort was made to help or wipe down other tables. No real inclination to return. read more

Black Rock is my favorite drive thru coffee place and while I was in the area I wanted to try their new seasonal pumpkin blondie drink. On Tuesdays they offer students and teachers a discount off medium size coffee drinks ($3 at this location). Ordering was easy and I had no problems hearing the person on the speaker and vice versa. I love how each Black Rock has a rewards program so after a certain number of drinks you get a free one. The person at the window was very friendly and personable. The drink itself was more blondie than pumpkin but still enjoyable and hey why not test the theory that blonde coffees have more fun? I'd definitely go here again to fulfill my caffeine fueled needs. I go here a few times per month and service at this location has really gone down. It has taken 15-20 minutes to get a drink if I order inside in the recent weeks. They also do not always confirm my phone number so I can earn points. The last drink I ordered--iced Mexican mocha with oat milk-was really warm. It was weird. My son got a croissant donut and it was so hard. I'm not sure if I'll be back or if I'll give them another try if I'm desperate. Wow! Another new Black Rock Coffee location in the east valley. Enthusiastic service ( like you would you expect anything less on an opening day) fresh clean interior and a really short wait time! An employee will hand you a menu of the top favorites and the opening specials for the week. I tried a non fat sugar free peppermint mocha which was very good. My friend ordered a non fat sugar free Blondie which she says was a bit sweeter than the usual but still delicious. This is a newer BR on PRIEST just north of Ray road in Tempe. The place looks great, upscale furniture, outdoor patio and very clean. Service by Manager Jordan was excellent. He was dealing with alot of customers really smoothly. I totally enjoyed my Mango smoothie and very large Iced Caramel Macchiato. They have a nice drive thru as well. Unfortunately they didn't even know I ordered, the person helping me said they didn't turn on their tablet for Doordash orders? So she had to turn it on, process it, and then make my iced americano. When I finally got someone to help I pulled up the app which I had been earning points on and which had given me a bar code for my order. I like this restaurant. The staff is always hopping! We have visited on less popular times and never had an issue. Excellent food and service. We have eaten in restaurant a few times. Tables and booths were clean every time we came in. Bathroom is clean as well. If it is your first time, the menu can be over whelming. I have tried various things and all have been very tasty. Their online orders are also efficient and east to do. I think this is why I like the restaurant. During the pandemic we got tired of the usual and had to find something new. This is what we found. I am very happy with the new find. You can order online and pick up in store. Quick and easy for those mornings, evenings or times when one does not feel like getting dressed to go out. The only problem I have is they never make my mobile order until I am physically there. Only once have I ever had it ready when I walked in. I placed my order at 7:23 for it to be ready at 7:45, I walked in at 7:50 and they barley started making it when I asked about it. I get when it gets busy they can't control it but the thing was it wasn't busy. Not even an apology from one worker. Asked for a manager and of course not one was there. I love the coffee and unfortunately this is the only one right next to my work but it sucks when I place my order almost 30 min ahead and it's not even ready. Why give the option to place orders online and it says on the app "ready for pick up in 5 min" when it's not. If they can improve that system then I'd have no complaints, other than all the over priced fees for extra stuff. read more

I came here to have a drink and do some work. I arrived around 11:30 and left at 1:30. There was one person in front of me. After they were waited on, the employee took off. I stood there for a few minutes before someone else assisted. The rest were working on drive thru orders. Ordered a hibiscus ice tea with 4 pumps sugar free vanilla and a splash of half and half. They don't carry heavy cream for anyone that is following keto. Table was dirty. I had to wipe it off myself. Drink had regular sugar so they had to remake it. When I left and some time before, it was dead. All the staff were standing there playing on their phones. Not once did anyone wipe off a table while I was there. I doubt I will ever return. Definitely don't want to use the bathroom if they clean it like the dining area. No one wants to put forth any effort anymore. This place needs a manager and if the manager was there, a new one! First time trying out black rock & I was very disppointed.. I got the mexican mocha and it was okay... I noticed from the window they use the Kirkland Oat milk (costco brand), which honestly is sooo terrible. You would think a cafe would use more of higher brand oat milk :( the drink was watery, and plain tasting sighhh. also, no worker was wearing a mask which yes, AZ has no mask mandate but it does change my opinion about the place.. won't be coming here again. read more

AMAZINGGG!!! You cannot go wrong with this Black Rock location. I have been here countless times and had an amazing experience every time. I come in weekly to study for exams and get to enjoy a clean table next to aesthetically pleasing interior design and the trendiest music. This is truly the kind of coffee shop that college students dream of studying in. The Caramel Blondie chiller and Caramel Truffle Chiller are so good and I love that the staff are consistent with their drinks. I can always expect perfection here. I'm disappointed in the way I was treated in this establishment. I simply did not want a caffeinated drink and i was scoffed at with no help in finding a replacement. The young women worker in the budweiser shirt left me confused, misjudged, misunderstood and hopeless. I left with an overpriced "milkshake". Has this happened to anyone else?
