The sidewinders were super crispy and perfect again. The jalapeño burger (not pictured, must have accidentally deleted it) was scarfed down by my son, I'm not sure he even took a breath. I've been here a number of times now. I've given it many chances and tried a few different dishes on the menu but I just can't get with it. The food isn't good. The pancake is probably the best of all I the things I tried but even that was fairly dry and flavorless. I will say that each time I've gone the service was pretty good. So far, this is the only restaurant in town we've been to that was able to serve soda NOT from a can (I think) so that's a plus! Service here was great! We were allowed to sit anywhere we wanted, so naturally we chose by the fireplace (it was a warm 35°F outside). We started with a "small bite" appetizer of onion rings, which could have been easily enough for 4/5 people. Definitely an abundance of onion rings for $4. For dinner we both got the country fried steak, I got the dinner and was able to try the beef vegetable soup with noodles, served with 4 saltine crackers. Very delicious and hearty soup, I added a pinch of salt. The steak was breaded and cooked great, and the mashed potatoes are creamy and absolutely delicious. Food was comfort style and very tasty, we were greeted by friendly staff. We were both full after our meals. Clean and a fireplace was going which was pleasing on a cold day. Service was good. They were out of much of the menu items on a Tues. night at the end of the day, but my fried chicken was good and since they were out of mashed potatoes, I got sweet potato fries, which were good. My husband enjoyed his steak. The service was good and the staff was friendly and attentive. If you want to avoid the smoke from the casino, you can enter the restaurant directly on the side of the building. You still have to walk into the casino to use the restroom. We went here to eat on our way to Sandy, UT. I wasn't very hungry so I got the pretzel bites and my husband bought some too, as well as a chicken strip dinner. He LOVED the chicken strip dinner, he said it was delicious. The pretzel bites were so good and so different then every other place we've been that on our way back home a week later, we stopped by just to get the pretzel bites. I have never left a place of patronage after having a drink without paying, but Black Rock Grill brought a new side of my character out of me: in a bad way. Avoid this hole like a potential STI. There's not much in Lovelock, only about four or five places to eat total. This is part of a casino and we went here after watching my friend's kid at a wrestling meet. We were grumpy from the long drive from Carson and wanted to tuck into some grub before hitting the road again. The menu features burgers, sandwiches and other simple, American fare. After almost getting the Monte Cristo sandwich I settled on a chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. It was really good and I was surprised at the great creamy peppercorn flavor of the house made gravy. My friends burger featured a juicy patty, thick cut fries, and she said it was excellent. Stopped for lunch on a Friday. Our service and food were very good. This restaurant is adjacent to the C Punch Casino which has recently been remodeled. The waitress brought a carafe of water for the table. Awesome. I ordered the Friday special which was fish, chips and Cole slaw. The fish was two giant pieces of fish which were crispy, fresh and tasty. The batter is very thick, but was cooked all the way through. The chips were a good size helping of standard french fries. The Cole slaw was fresh made its sweet like KFC Cole slaw. My husband had a burger with pork belly on a pretzel bun with fresh greens. He was impressed with the freshness of everything. It was a very nice break from driving. The casino looked nice too. Towns are few and far between on this stretch of highway. If in doubt, stop and check it out. read more

This place is meh. And expensive for what you get. I've had the cheeseburger, which was unimaginative and dry, and the steak sandwich which was fatty. My husband has had breakfast here and he said it was expensive for standard eggs home fries and toast - even without meat. As someone else mentioned their hours are erratic. They seem to open and close whenever they feel like it. Service is not awesome. Not sure what they're trying to do.... I would rather eat at McDonald's than here. read more

The food is on par with a cheap truckstop or diner, but you pay a bit more for the surprisingly modern, attractive and comfortable setting. Country fried steak was rubbery and tough. Probably cooked well in advance and simply died under a heat lamp. Country gravy was institutional in character but carried good flavor. Lousy toast; big airy slices of bread slathered in some kind of margarine-esque oil blend. Hashbrowns just fine. Coffee a solid "C+" Prices are higher than you'd expect given the food quality, but adjusted for the atmosphere I was fine with it. I wasn't expecting much, but the dining room and seating were very welcoming and fresh. They even had a fireplace. Service was no-nonsense in the way of truckstop waitresses, but straight-forward and friendly enough. A really good option in Lovelock. Given the crowd of locals I'd say this is a solid place. No smoking in the restaurant but odors from the attached casino are unavoidable. Comes down to your tolerance of smoke. There's an arcade area a short walk across the casino with kid-friendly games, and a nice pool table as well. read more

They don't care whether your food is good, hot, or even serving you more than kids size proportions for what your paying. We went there and there baked potato wouldn't have been big enough for my 3 year old on a steak special. Same goes with the other vegetables that were served. My sons was way too hot for a toddler and if I wouldn't have intercepted the plate would have burned him. I asked for a medium rare steak and it came out almost raw and blood was everywhere when I cut into it. At this point I was done and just gave my dinner to my husband who likes rare steaks so he could have a filling meal. Waitress was inattentive and I had to call her across the restaurant to tell her about really cold potato (wouldn't melt butter) and took over 10 minutes to clean plates from table and I had to ask for a refill. I reached out personally to management through Facebook only to make them aware of the situation and they basically said I was lying but also admitted that some of what I was saying was true regarding the cold potato. As a business owner I would never do this especially when a customer is offering good criticism and not asking for anything in return. I have all screenshots of messages if they would like to dispute this review, which I am only doing because they accused me of doing it anyway......when I tried to be an adult and just offer good criticism privately. read more

Patty melt hit the spot. I was hungry. They were out of rye bread, not a big deal. The burger was just barely medium rare. Waitress didn't ask how done I wanted it. I always have my burgers fully cooked because the bacteria gets churned up in there, not like a steak, where the inside is sealed in & the outside gets hot enought to kI'll the critters. Anyway, I was hungry & I inhaled it. My system struggled with it a little the next day, but I'm alive to tell about it. The restaurant appears to have been remodeled recently with nice tables & booths, rich textures & colors of flooring, walls, drapes. And there's a lunch counter. Kinda cool. We have stopped in for dinner twice. Both unsuccessful. The first time was on a weekend. When we reserved our room we asked what time the restaurant closed. We were told 9 so shortly after 8 we went to eat and they were closed. Only cooking food for employees. We were told they close according to business. Again last night we stayed at hotel and looked over restaurant was busy so about a quarter to 8 we walked in.
