FINALLY! got the chance to go try this place out. As we walked through the doors what did I smell?? Smoke, yep the sweet sweet smell of meats smokin' on the pit. I went in big like a starving hostage and ordered a half rack of ribs, brisket, pulled pork, a Habanero Jalapeño Cheddar sausage link and a side of mac and F'n Cheese! My wife, she had the pulled chicken and a salad. First taste was the brisket, gotta go in for the brisket. The bark was so flavorful and there was the distinct smoke flavor. Unlike another place I've been to, this place was smoke forward and that's the vibe I like. Not bitter, but a good smoke. The pulled pork was out of this world and the ribs were just about perfect. Not fall off the bone but a great clean bite through. I know, I know everyone wants fall off the bone but hear me out, THAT'S JUST OVERCOOKED! Now let's talk about this sausage. If you aren't prepared for some serious heat (I should have known by the name) don't be a hero here. That link is damn hot. Like satan's b-hole hot. Flavor is amazing but it's hot as pawnshop wedding ring. I gotta say this place has got my attention. Not that it need my attention particularly, but you have it anyway. When I go to a BBQ restaurant, I want to taste smoke. That's what I'm there for. Butcher's Kitchen did not dissapoint. THEN!! the best part of the night was when they brought me and my wife back and showed us the smokers!! Like wizard of oz, ruby slippers, man behind the curtain sh*t, they showed me the damn smokers! The group thoroughly enjoyed the quality of food, great service, and casual atmosphere. The staff were some of the most friendly and welcoming we've experienced here in Reno. Char B Que has breakfast. They offer a breakfast sandwich with choice of protein/ meat; Breakfast burritos and or tacos with choice of meat and breakfast bowls. I chose the breakfast bowl with brisket as the protein. The bowl has 3 scrambled or fried eggs, plenty of cheese and potato and tender and tasty brisket. It was a first time at Butcher's Kitchen. The bartender Eric was very helpful with our menu selections. We had the Monday special Burrito & Beer, $15. My husband and I split the burrito it was plentiful. We got to meet the owner Ed, the son, but unfortunately his Dad also named Ed wasn't there. I noticed they had a sign up they were features on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives with Guy Fieri. Just to taste the food you'll know why they were on the show! Fantastic! I have literally been coming here since they opened and it is my absolute BBQ favorite. Their barbecue is to die for but I almost always get the grilled salmon now! SO good. And the side choices are unique and delicious. I usually get chili and ancient grains pilaf, but the cold quinoa salad (except way too much cilantro), the mac and cheese, barbecue beans, and sweet potato fries are other favorites. The soups of the day are always delish, too. I'm not a big drinker but they have a great full bar and offer excellent local craft beers. The best recent addition is the booths along the side. I have a bad hip and can't sit in hard, unpadded chairs. The booths solve that problem beautifully! They also offer delivery through some online platforms. Butchers has been our go-to bbq place since before Covid and they truly never disappoint! It's one of the few places my picky daughter requests to go to all the time. Their menu has evolved throughout the years, but I tend to stick with the 2 piece chicken plate with a side of Mac and a house salad with balsamic. My favorite barbecue in Northern Nevada! This place has been featured on the food channel, and Guy Fieri himself has been here due to the quality of food being off the charts!! I love getting the pulled pork sandwich. I also love the rib tips. Last night I ordered a half pound of tri-tip half pound of pulled pork and some ribs and I was so impressed with the quality of the meats. I don't think any place can top this barbecue spot. I love the french fries here they are seasoned perfectly in the coleslaw is unreal as well. Usually not a huge coleslaw fan. Everything is well seasoned and I even bought a bun so I can make a pulled pork sandwich with the spread that I took pictures of. The service is always fast but sometimes I do call it in in advance just so it's ready when I get there. Everybody is always friendly and very nice and super helpful if you have any questions. I love their location. It is very big. They have enough seating even when they are very busy and it's always kept very clean. I favor a VERY specific style of burrito. Protein heavy with cheese, great salsa, beans, veg and signature condiments allowed as long as they make sense and enhance the whole offering, Absolutely no rice is permitted, and it better be rolled up in one of the GOOD tortillas. IYKYK. These hit absolutely every mark with bonus points for excellent protein options (including the specials) and incredible salsas! If you think about this for a second, it makes sense that a bbq joint would excel at meat and sauce. Try one for yourself. I'm also now a huge fan of the chicken. Moist and succulent, smoky and delicious. Textbook bbq bird. Pro-tip: order half chicken all white meat for a portion that's big enough for three. Roasted veggies were good but the potatoes were still firm and not fork tender. Garlic bread was probably the weakest, however, still edible. I wanted more garlic flavor. Order at the counter. I have been craving good BBQ for a while and was excited to try here. Great area, lots of parking, quick and polite service. Unfortunately, the food just missed the mark for me. We spent approximately $50 for two plates, but most BBQ spots are around that range so to be expected. The Tri-Tip & corn-bread were by far the stars of the show, but the fries were really good too! Loved the seasoning! The rest seemed to lack flavor for my liking. The brisket was a bit hard to swallow, even with the sauce. For the drive home from Reno, I had to do some calculations in regard to dinner. Tomorrow, we are going to Tres Hermanas in Davis, Saturday night to Tropeiro's Grill downtown. So for tonight...BBQ! Yelp showed Butcher's Kitchen nearby and with a fair number of reviews. In something of a strip mall, it was easy to find. One person was just finishing ordering when I walked in. The person behind the counter was super helpful as I was a bit overwhelmed by the number of options on the menu. All I really wanted was ribs, but so glad I chose the plate. Which came with two sides. I selected Mac and cheese and a wedge salad. Couldn't eat the salad on the road, so I think I'll have that now. But everything else was really, really good. The little garlic rolls were super fresh, mildly seasoned and perfectly toasted. The ribs, though...oh man! I don't usually get BBQ sauce, kinda have to be in the mood for it. So, the actual rib on its own is important. And these were excellent. Tender, juicy, and delightfully seasoned. But the best part? They were wonderfully smoked. The ribs were really meaty, too. A+! I know I'm being rather one-sided, here but everything was seriously delicious. The Mac n cheese was packed full in the container, had a generous amount of cheese and the cheese was thick with a nice sharp cheddar flavor. I could eat that stuff every day. Alright. Whenever I go somewhere new on vacation I like to look up Diners, Drive-in's and Dives locations. Saw this one so we decided to try it out. It did not disappoint! We happened to show up during happy hour but we had dinner reservations in a few hours so we just got a couple of "bites" to share. We all enjoyed what we got! (There was 4 of us). The sliders were great and only $3 each. My husband wanted to try the rib tips as that is one of the items Guy got on the show. Those were also tasty. The Italian sausage had a little kick. There were 3 different bbq sauce options. We tried 2 of the 3 (didn't get the spicy one). I personally didn't love either of the 2 we tried but the others did. I've been here several times and it was always great. This time, not so much. I got an order to go and watched it sit on the counter as they took multiple orders out to those eating there, including three large groups that ordered after me. By the time I finally got my order, the fries were cold and soggy. And the brisket was not great. Previously it was so tender and just pulled apart and melted. This time it was tougher and chewy, like they were in a hurry so upped the temp to get it done rather than a nice slow and low. First off let me preface this by making clear I am a Texan.... So my idea of bar-b-Que is a little different from other folks. I walked in and was stared at by two cashiers awkwardly. Waiting for either or to take command of the situation and welcome me in. They didn't so I broke the ice to thaw out the situation. Once the awkwardness of disengaging customer service was out of the way I commenced to ordering brisket, two types of sausages, half rack of ribs and some ahi tuna with sides of Mac n cheese, green beans and finally cornbread. Here's how it chewed; Brisket on the lean and dry side but had great smoky flavor notes. Definitely could have used some bark but maybe naked is their style. Ribs were tasty and came off the bone. They were not quite dry but not tender juicy either. Both sausages were tasty af. I had Cajun and the jalapeño cheese I believe. Ahi Tuna was good and not over seared. The green beans ( not over cooked and soggy ) and cornbread were both tasty as well. The ambiance is chill, the counter could use some pep. And to be fair I came in around 7 pm so towards the end of their night so the food and service could be better during prime time. read more

Another delicious salad today. I need to come here more often. I had the pulled chicken today and it was totally delicious. They have everything dialed in here, from sauces in squirt bottles you can take to your table to lemon juice in a squirt bottle to add to iced tea or water or your drink.
