I didn't get a tattoo, but I DID get a piercing on Friday the 13th, in the middle of a huge rush. I walked in and was nervous to get into line seeing how many people were waiting outside. I walked up and asked if I could get a piercing done today, and Jasmine said yeah, come right back! Didn't have to wait longer than filling out my form She was so kind and knowledgeable and happy to be piercing me. I've had Gary do some lovely lettering for me, Conrad has done a crab for me, a devil kewpie baby, and even fixed up a lucky cat tattoo that another shop made mistakes on. Most recently I worked with a girl named Sophia I believe? She did an amazing and hilarious SpongeBob tattoo for me. My friend and I called around for a place that took walkins and we found Folsom City Ink. We were told Conrad could get us in so we looked through his work on Instagram and his tagged work and his lines looked nice and clean. The second he started to tattoo me his hand was shaking so bad I almost asked him to just stop. It was a very simple evil eye design and the lines are all shaky and uneven. His work online does not at all match how shaky he was. I have been tattooed by a bunch of artists and I've never seen someone with such a visibly shaky hand. I have never received a tattoo from Bill. I did however have an experience with him and his business. In the middle of the Covid 19 outbreak I got contacted from a friend of mine who's husband is a nurse. She was desperate for donations of masks and gloves. I did not have any but had an idea to call tattoo parlors and see if they had any to donate since they were closed. Bill actually called me back. After he very carefully vetted me and made sure the donations were going to hospitals by contacting the hospital directly, he donated many boxes of gloves and masks on his own dime. The man that owns this business supported our community in a time when his business was closed. He gave his own supplies at his own cost. He is a very good person and when his business opens you should support him as he has supported all of us. A huge Thank You to Bill for his kindness. I didn't get ink recently but was waiting to see how my ink would look after some time (1 year). Well it looks just as great as it did the day I had it worked on. I had a tattoo done at another well known tattoo shop whom I will not name and within weeks it looked like a jail style tattoo (no offense to the artists that are "unfortunately" incarcerated). It faded so badly that I was actually embarrassed to have it show and during the summer it is virtually impossible not to have it exposed. I'm not saying it was the artists fault but it's what happened. I went to Folsom City Ink to have it retouched. The guy who worked on it ended up redoing the entire thing. He even added some stuff and he was cool as hell. I kept telling him that I wanted it to look good and he would tell me... "don't worry, it will be magical." I loved his sense of humor and how considerate he was. My tattoo is a pretty decent sized piece on top of my foot. The artist even earned himself a hug when he was done because I loved it and he rocked! read more

To be the first to review Folsom City Ink is an honor. My brother and I have dubbed this fine establishment as our "second home." A place where our faces our known (his more than mine...I have some catching up to do) and we love spending time at even if we aren't getting work done. I have a total of 5 tattoos done by Folsom Ink and want to go back for more....and more.....and more. (i love me some ink!) In fact, in the last year I got a tattoo done by a shop other than Folsom Ink (since I do live in Boston now and still have the tattoo itch) and have to say I regret it. I'm looking forward to when I go back home to have it touched up. Bill here, along with all the other awesome guys of Folsom Ink, kick some major a**. (when I get super excited about things, I cuss to show my love) To me, I personally feel a good tattoo artist is just that: someone who can tattoo up a storm AND is incredibly gifted artistically. Never do my brother and I feel any hesitation in telling them "Hey, here's the idea of what I want. Feel free to come up with whatever." My brother has some very detailed, beautiful work on his arm that was created from Bill drawing up some fantastic design. Also, my back piece idea was pretty specific (it's based on old Puritan gravestones) but Bill managed to put his own spin on it. And said tattoo is famous now! People stop me to talk about it all the time, and it even made it's first movie debut in "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past." (okay, me AND the tattoo did) If you're in Folsom, and looking for some work, be sure to give Folsom Ink a chance. HUGE disappointment!! One of the first places we checked out. My son is deploying and wanted a cover up over a tat he got with his cheating ex wifes name. We went in and it was suggested we come back and talk to Conrad for the extensive job this was going to be. We went back in the next day and met with Conrad. We explained the time urgency due to the upcoming deployment date and he assured us that he could do it. He took $20 to draw up a design, took a tracing and some pictures, promising to call in a couple days. A couple days came and went with no word from Conrad. I called and left a message. A couple more days came and went, still no word. Kind of rude, in my opinion... He took the money, he should have followed through! My son decided after the poor communication to just call it a loss and find someplace else that has a better work ethic. This was a pretty important job, and one on a time crunch, and he felt that if this guy operates this way, he sure didnt trust him!! We spent some more time, and visited several shops and finally found a fabulous one. Too bad for Conrad.. He lost out on a load of money fom my son and the three friends that also got tattoos. I went in on March 11, Friday. It was decent service, nothing exceptional nothing negative. I never got the name of the artist, just some guy with a beard. The tattoo process wasn't bad. I asked for a comma, and I just have no idea how the artist managed to do it backwards. I had another all black tattoo near my collarbone, and you can see how there was uneven inking done in the photos. I wasn't told how to take care of the tattoo afterwards, and they used masking tape on my skin to hold the bandages. /Two months later I'm even more pissed off. One star/ read more

My experience was not great...I don't usually write negative reviews but in this case I felt it necessary. When getting a tattoo on your body, you should have a say in what you want. I was flat out told NO! I'm not sure if they aren't used to new techniques and are just old school or what the deal is. The shop was dingy and had metal head music blaring. I mean LOUD!! I went in two weeks prior to give him the details on what I wanted and paid the deposit. He once again did exactly what I expected. This round I was there much longer since I was having a half sleeve completed. He really is talented artist...I've had so many people love my tattoo. I recommend Bill for their tattoo needs.
