We are from Springfield, but live out of state. We wanted a place with a dog friendly patio, and saw that Black Sheep had that. Great service is one thing, but this staff went beyond that. Even though the patio was closed on the day/time we arrived, they opened it so we could dine with our dog, Walter. They even brought him a bowl of water and custard with peanut butter drizzle, and even called him by name. Walter loved it! And so did we. Keep up the excellent work Black Sheep! read more

Amazing choice of artisan style Burgers and fries, craft drinks/cocktails, and adult shakes. Gotta get the "what the dr. ordered" & the salt n vinegar fries (photoed) which is a burger topped with slow cooked Dr Pepper ribs. I had the egg removed and had them add onion strings. Seriously one of the best burgers I've had. The truffle mayo was really good, but get it on the side like I did. The waitress also recommends "Springfilly" which is their version of a Philly steak. Comes with a filet on a burger topped with peppers n onions, and finished with their house made baba beer cheese sauce. Or the "Foodie" which is a double patty burger topped with Boursin cheese, caramelized onion, and house made truffle mayo. If you're looking for an alternative to burger- My wife enjoyed the chicken sandwich. read more

I have been to this establishment four times over the years. Every single time I have come it has been a terrible experience. The first time I went, the burger was undercooked & the shake was not mixed well at all. I'm always willing to give a place a second chance. So I went back with some friends. I ordered the waffle mac and cheese. To say it was inedible would be too kind. I will say that the outdoor dining was very appealing & the environment was very hip. Third times a charm right? Wrong. By this point I didn't want to go, but I was meeting some friends to eat & this was the place they liked. I ordered something called the ugly cheeseburger. I guess that's on me. It was so greasy & the plating was disgusting. The final time I went was last year. I had family coming in from out of state. My sister & her husband love Black Sheep. I've told them my horror stories about the restaurant, but they said that my cousins (the ones from out of state) really wanted to try it. As we were walking in I again stated my hesitation. There was a wait so we put our name on the waiting list. This was just when restaurants were opening back up from quarantine so they asked us to wait outside. Well it started to rain a little & it was getting cold. We waited for over an hour. Constantly going back in to check on our table. Finally the maître d' told us that they had accidentally removed our names from the wait list and that we had been getting skipped over. We asked to be seated next & were told that a large party had reservations and that it would be another 30 minutes. I don't say this lightly. I hate this place. Terrible food. Poor customer service. And my visiting relatives still to this day talk about the terrible experience they had. read more

I have tried their sister restaurants and I knew this one was not going to disappoint me! They mixed up my sons meal, I asked for 2 burgers and one kids hotdog and they sent out 2 hotdogs, we ended up taking it Togo because my son just ate half of my daughters burger. The sauces are all great and the smoked fries are a must! The habanero pickles were not spicy and after we ate them all she informed us that we could've asked for more spice so if you want spicy then make sure and ask for extra spicy! I was super annoyed with the group of 3 couples next to us. First the server did mix up the burgers I believe and they had to switch them but half the table wanted their burgers well done and one lady kept sending her burger back ok I get it you want a burnt burger but what made me mad is that after a couple attempts at trying to please the woman they eventually just gave up and told her and her husband that their meals would be on the House well then all the sudden the other lady from the group started complaining that her burger wasn't well done and just continued squawking that over and over until the manager came over and told them all their meals would be on the house, as soon as the manager walked away the whole group laughed and applauded themselves saying that it was such a good idea to come there on top of that they even received gift cards to return and I'm sure they will still complain about receiving a juicy moist burger instead of a dry burnt one. read more

This truly was a "Black Sheep" dining experience. The food was sub-par at best being generally undercooked and tasting rubbery. I realize that this is a tough time for restaurants, namely due to pandemic-related reasons overall effect on personnel. However, the management team at the Black Sheep needs to work better and supervise their employees more closely. There were employees standing around not paying attention to their customers needs while dirty tables remained uncleared and garbage was left scattered across the floor of the entire restaurant. This place has potential, but there is a ton of room for improvement. read more

Let me start by saying the sugar daddy milkshake was spectacular- the addition of the candied bacon really puts it over the edge. I also really enjoyed the chipotle ketchup with the smoked fries. I had the black bean burger as my entree, which had great flavor, but the texture was a little too soft for my preference. I also wasn't a fan of pickle spears on the burger instead of chips. I think prices are on the high end for a burger joint as well. The service was great and the food was good-I'd definitely go back! read more

I am not really a burger fan, but OH DEAR lord these are seriously the BEST burgers I've ever had!! The smoke fries are ridiculous and amazing and I would actually drive down from KC to just eat here....and I don't say that lightly!! We also had the onion straws and they were good and a huge serving. I asked if they added liquid smoke to them before ordering because that is a flavor I can taste and can't stand, but they said they just use actual smoke. That is impressive and pretty incredible how the potato soaks up that smoke flavor so perfectly and then they fry it. It is done very well to say the least. I have to get back soon because I didn't get to try one of their amazing shakes! Oh and by the way I had the blues brothers burger... :) read more
