Wow, what a place. This was our first time eating at Red's one of the guys from work had suggested it so my husband and I decided to go after work a week ago and we are really glad we did. When you first walk in you're greeted by a waiter and asked if you have ever been there before if you answer no they tell you the history of Red's including the fact that they are the first fast food restaurant EVER and they are proud of that fact it's pretty cool, next your senses are overtaken by the memorabilia all over the walls, the 1950's decor it's like stepping back in time it would bring great memories to my father's generation. Then we come to the meal can you say " Oh My Cheese" That was amazing I had a single cheeseburger with no pickles add BBQ sauce and extra onions and it was pure perfection I had onion rings instead of the french fries they were some of the best I've had, I was impressed. My husband ordered a double cheeseburger with everything and loved it he got the french fries and said they were very good. We watched as other things came out and the portions were very large and might I add very tasty. Well worth the money I would say a must-try you won't be disappointed, oh ya you must try a small ice cream to top off your meal. Great Lunch Thanks Guys!! We will be back!! Disappointed!! Online the hours say they close at 9pm, my family and I were turned away just before 8pm. The girl said they were closed and running their winter hours. Maybe you should also have a notice that winter hours exist? In a small town like this, pretty sure a small place like that could have accommodated us. Heard this place was local and famous back in the day. I love local restaurant. and hamburger is always fulfilling to have. My boss took us for a dinner, because he was craving this place like everyday. I never try it so I was excited! The menu wasn't overwhelming and very easy. I just got the basic cheeseburger with fries and sweet tea ofc. Im very picky with hamburger, so when i took a bite, it was so juicy and tender with flavors. The fries was perfect crispy and hot. It was sooo good! Prices wasnt bad at all. Decent $7 for a good combo meal. I would rate this place better than Freddy burger!!! To whoever made our order earlier today around 3:30ish. Wtf was that onion ring? I ordered an onion and I am not kidding, there were only 3 pieces onion rings? Meanwhile, I am here looking at all the photos of people who ordered onion rings and they have a full basket of onion rings? In addition, everything was just poorly prepared... our hamburgers were half wrapped. It was so messy in our togo bag, its as if someone just tossed our order in the bag. Cool atmosphere and we enjoyed the music. Staff were friendly and the place was very clean. The fountain drinks were good as were the sweet potato fries and the onion rings. The burgers (which is the reason we went there with friends) appeared to be frozen burgers, tasteless. Hubby & I decided to visit Red's for a weeknight date. I was reading the reviews and heard a mix of opinions. My single burger was pretty good - not a lot of beef but that's to be expected for a single. Comparable to Freddy's or Steak & Shake burger size. Maybe a little bigger. The caramelized onions were a nice touch! Bun was a little plain but slightly toasted. I dipped my burger in the fry sauce to give it a little more flavor. Yum! The onion rings were AWESOME! Generous portion for a side included in the combo. Really crispy! Not too oily or overly seasoned. Just right. I wish I had ordered a whole bucket of them! Hubby's fries were hot & somewhat reminded me of 5 Guys' fries but a less seasoned/greasy. Overall a pretty good experience. Food was weird for americano burger joint, I didn't finish my food neither did my kid. Super greasy and the onion rings were off. Can't put my finger on it. The fried stuff smelled over cooked and the burger was super sloppy. Like rushed and "not my job" kinda wrapping. Service was like a McDonald's. The hamburger is tasty. That is the only thing good about Reds. The restaurant itself was disgusting. No one was cleaning. They had open ketchup and sauce containers that people had to scoop with plastic spoons on to napkins. Food was all over the tables and floors. We ordered at 1:30. We got our food at 2:45. There were 5 to 6 staff. 1 was taking orders. 2 we're cooking. The rest we're talking and worrying about other things, other than getting food to customers. When confronted about the time, the staff had a very bad attitude. Don't eat here!!!! read more

My expectations were high after seeing all the pictures of Red's Giant Hamburgers overflowing their buns with melty cheese and wonderful meat so I ordered the Jumbo with bacon. Overflowing and Jumbo is not exactly what I would have called it. The meat and bacon were good but the burger to bun ratio was way off, at about three fourths burger to the bun which flapped around like Pac Man looking for the rest of the meat that was supposed to be in it. The fries and rings were good, but I was here for the awesome Giant Hamburger! They had plenty of staff there who kept the tables clean, but they needed an air door blower to keep out the considerable numbers of flies invading the place like Napoleons Army. Then midway through our meal one of the a/c vents in the ceiling next to us literally started raining water as I can only assume its condenser froze. The manager next to us stared up at the vent in alarm as employees rushed to put buckets under the vent and wet floor signs around it. Pretty soon she was talking to either the owner or an a/c company and saying it was pushing 90 degrees in there so repairing it later wasn't an option. We'll call this an unusual event to be sure, and while the junior sized burger was okay I just wouldn't go out of my way for it. Noooooo hisss What a let down - this will not be a positive review. My wife and I went to Red's on August 28, about 4:30pm. There was no wait, ordering was straight forward. I got a giant burger (2 patties) combo, a hot dog, and my wife got the fish sandwich. The fries are nice hand cut fries....but they were cold and some were clumped up. The meat for the burger was fine, akin to Freddy's or Steak n Shake. The hot dog was.....well to me it was small, tubular bolagna. There was no crispiness, no skin. The fish was fine though the coating was cooked to a well-done crispy. The biggest downfall to this meal: The bread. It was straight out of the package that was probably left open. Cold, crumbly, and something you'd expect from the $.99 package of twelve buns from the discount store. I'll be honest, they tried to toast the hamburger bun (see photo) on the flat top but barely did the job - the bun was still cold. A very big disappointment on the whole. We were expecting so much more from the food. One star not because that's the lowest available but because the decor was very nice. There's a chance we won't be back. read more

Don't know why anyone would rate this place bad. Little 50's style diner with great burgers, shakes and service. If that's what you're looking for, this is your place. I'll say the tables could be cleaner, but they were busy and easily wiped down. I got a burger but the chicken and pork loin sandwiches looked amazing! read more

Red's Giant Hamburg is a real fun diner to go eat at. The food is good, the decor is fun and the attention to detail is great. The latest visit to Red's included a chili cheese dog with onions, a cheeseburger with fries, and a banana split. The chili cheese dog is great, wonderful flavor with the chili. The cheeseburger was good according to my boyfriend. The fries were also good. This is the first time I ordered a banana split here. It was the traditional kind with pineapple over the vanilla ice cream! I can't remember when I last had such a traditional banana split. It was really good, too. Honestly, the decor and the tribute to Red is what makes this place so unique and fun. Skip the drive thru and just eat inside. You won't regret it. The food does take time to be made. (This isn't fast food. If you want fast food, go to McDonald's or Chick-fil-A. Simple enough.) The claim that Red's was the first drive thru is somewhat unfounded, so I'm not sure how true it is. What I do know, though, is the food is really good here! So stop by, eat inside, and experience a cool meal. read more

Met up w family for a Saturday lunch. Cute/retro feel to the inside. Service was friendly and helpful. This was our first visit so I had a couple of questions. Like what's "reds sauce" it's thousand island dressing ;) it took. While for our order to be ready. We were missing a side of fries and bacon on one of the burgers. I liked the burger- it's a smashed patty w crispy edges and really flavorful. However, it was nearly cold. Kind of bummed. Fries were good, but barely warm. I'm thinking our food set out for a bit before our number was called. After lunch, we orders shakes and malts. They were HUGE and piled high with whipped cream, but soooooo runny. Like chocolate milk. My malt had zero malt flavor and the chocolate shake was lacking chocolate flavor. Not a fan. Overall it was ok. I love finding places where it's a step back in time and you get the nostalgic old-fashioned diner feels - Red's is exactly that! The history of this restaurant is neat! My husband and I came right at noon for lunch on a Thursday and they were busy. Several cars in the drive-thru and the parking lot was full (that's always a good sign, right!?). We had about a 5 minute wait in line to order then waited approximately 10 more minutes for our food to come out. There were plenty of open booths to sit at inside as it appeared most customers were getting their orders to go. Overall, the restaurant was clean and the staff were attentive and immediately wiped down tables as customers left. The decor inside brings you back to the 50's and creates a nice atmosphere as well. Burgers were flavorful, a little on the dry side, but tasty! The hand cut fries were crispy and yummy! Everything came out fresh and hot. Giving 2 stars based on cute retro diner decor only. Went in at 8:05 p.m. and was told they were about to close and was turned away. I had checked their website and Apple map, before heading over from St. Robert, MO (where the Route 66 diner there closed 2 hours early starting today with no update) both sources showed a closing time of 9:00 pm. No hours posted onsite. If you're driving on Route 66 and interested in supporting classic/retro diners you should probably call first or risk going hungry. read more
