    The meals!
    Chris R.

This cute little diner on Main Street in Versailles serves breakfast and lunch only. My wife and I went for Brunch and enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere. Although it's early April, there are Christmas trees and decor adorning the space. Upon inquiring, we were told there is a film being shot there and the setting is around Christmas. Fun! Holly, the delightful GM, greeted us promptly at the door and seated us with menus. Will, our server, arrived quickly with water and offered drinks. The menu didn't include Mimosas, Bellinis, Bloody Mary, and other brunch cocktails. But they do have a cocktail menu (and mocktails) which we didn't order. I ordered the "Open Faced Omelette", first time I've seen that on a menu. The plate was full and had been placed in a broiler to get the cheese and egg crispy. I also got bacon and sausage in the omelette. Very good and more than I could eat. She got waffles, bacon, and a fruit cup. They offer chicken and waffles but she didn't want the chicken so Will offered just waffles from the kids menu. Accommodating! They could use a good waffle or pancake dish on the main menu, with toppings and such. But all the food was fresh and good. Everything we saw on other tables was well-presented and we heard comments from others who enjoyed their meals, and the beignets. Reasonable prices, too. When in Versailles early Wednesday thru Sunday, give them a try!

New breakfast and lunch spot opened in Versailles, and we picked Valentine's day to give it a shot. It did not disappoint! I love this location, it's convenient and the fireplace has always been cozy and nice to sit by, so very happy they opened here after Spark closed. Their take on eggs Benny is nice, the polenta cake is great. And their house made bacon is tasty. I had the steak and eggs and the chimichurri is FANTASTIC and the skirt steak was cooked perfectly. Service was awesome, the team is friendly and fast. Round the whole thing out with a full bar so you can have a nice bloody mary or mimosa Overall a great experience. Happy to have the Black Squirrel in our little town :)

    The Breakfast Hotbrown

Fast service Generous portions The Breakfast Hotbrown was very good and my wife enjoyed the chicken salad sandwich

The 'omelette' was an overcooked frittata. The waffles must have been frozen

We really wanted the Black Squirrel to be good - darn!! The drip coffee was good. (The mugs are tiny) The omelette was not good at all. Overcooked/burned egg smell. It wasn't even an omelette, but more like a frittata. The over easy eggs were cooked correctly, the bacon was cold and greasy. The waffles were the worst. Eggo would be better. No butter, cold syrup. So disappointed! I gave two stars because everyone was nice.

This is quite possibly the best restaurant to ever exist in Stanford…read more I grew up in Stanford, I can tell you that in the 1980's and 1990's that local restaurants here were nothing but no-name greasy spoon diners selling nothing but fairly generic "burger and fries" and breakfast food, and it was usually pretty lousy. I was back in the town I grew up in a couple of weeks ago, and heard there was a really nice cafe in Stanford now called the Bluebird, so I sought it out. I was amazed. This definitely is more like a place I would expect in Lexington or Louisville. The food is genuinely good. Iced coffee and espresso, hot browns, and lots of other food that was never in Stanford when I was growing up there as a kid. I know that Stanford went wet a few years ago in a referendum, but it's still surreal to see margaritas and other mixed drinks on the menu in a place in Stanford. The ambiance was friendly and welcoming, and struck a nice balance between small town friendly. I had a patty melt, which was probably the best meal I'd ever had in a restaurant in Stanford in my entire life. I will definitely be back the next time I come back to my old hometown.

Freshly sautéed shrooms, cooked perfectly, juicy, seasoned well, served on a brioche bun. They offered a great selection of sides. I chose the chicken lemon orzo soup. It was a generous serving abundant w tender chicken. Our server, Autumn, was personable and, simply, just perfect at her job. We will return.

What a treat! A co-worker dating someone in Lexington suggested this place…read more We were in the area and decided to give this place a try. It's not exactly in Lexington... it's more on the outskirts(in my opinion) but it hits extremely hard. They have many things on their menu but I wanted something simple. Breakfast sandwich. I added cheese and ordered an avocado for it too. I should've ordered an extra biscuit. It was light, filling, and equalized me in the most perfect way. My wife ordered the grain bowl and it was so much bigger than we thought it'd be. Plenty for leftovers. If I had any complaints, it'd be that it is a smaller place. Let me rephrase... not so much small but it is busy and cramped. They could easily expand to another location or larger location. We will definitely visit this place again. All the food was perfect!

This may be my new favorite brunch spot in Lex simply for their burrito! I still think about it…read moretoday (it's been almost a week). Extremely friendly service from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. We were seated rather fast, but their seats can be uncomfortable. The inside is beautiful! So clean, so modern... wish they were bigger. The music can be a bit loud but nothing crazy. Plenty of parking space. My husband and I ordered the burrito and potatoes each... you'd think assembling a burrito doesn't take too long... well, it took about 50 min for our food. Side note, I thought the server said potatoES (you'd think chopped potato pieces)... well, it's not. It's more of a fried potato cake... it was too greasy for me to eat unfortunately so just a PSA as others have warned. And as soon as we took a bite, the server came and dropped off the check. I get that they were busy but we had just started eating. Overall, they were busy so I'll give them some grace. 8/10, I will try to be back soon.
