I've always heard of the black walnut, so I decided to bring my family for the Sunday brunch. The place is really nice to look at, very modern like upscale of a Panera but with a more variety on their menu. I have to give props to the two managers that were on Sunday June 22 for the brunch hours, as a waitress I have worked with a few managers as well as going out to eat a lot for date nights and I have to say that those 2 managers have been one of the most attentive managers that I have seen, they genuinely cared for the guest experience and helped me out when I thought I lost my debit card as well as when my sister misplaced my fathers phone (it was a scary few minutes) but overall everything was excellent, the food is delicious! The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 is because the portions are a tad small or at least the ones we ordered. Still keep on the good work! read more

Stopped in for dinner last night with family. The young lady behind the counter (didn't catch her name) was very friendly. We placed our order and my niece asked for her dish to be made with chicken instead of shrimp due to an allergy to shellfish. They were extremely pleased to make that happen. We took a seat and a short time later our food was ready. We went to grab our food and unfortunately there was shrimp in her dish. The staff was so apologetic and remade the dish immediately. The manager even came to our table to extend an apology. Once everyone received what they ordered, we all enjoyed our meals. Yes there was a slight mistake made but it was caught and handled perfectly we will definitely return to this location read more

Over priced Olive Garden. Bland taste from a restaurant that relies on their location and protein choice for the dish to give it substance, not ingredients or spices. I have been twice to this location and have been severely unsatisfied both times. Please cook with purpose like your sugar land location does. read more

Ate here on an early Saturday afternoon- food was great! My MIL got the big breakfast platter- pancakes were fresh, grits were creamy, and sausage was savory. I had the lemon chicken pasta(a bit tart) but very good! Will definitely be back! read more

They have TWO p.o.s. units to take orders, but with the line out the door only have one cashier working! No sense of urgency from the staff. According to the baristas it was a normal crowd for a Sunday morning. So why doesn't the management staff for it. At $40 for three adults to eat breakfast they are making enough. The only reason we waited in line was because my wife insisted. We have eaten here before at non-peak times without the long wait. Oh and watch out for the guys clearing the tables they bumped into multiple people with no apologies. I may not be back. The three stars are for the good food, not the management. read more

I seriously had high hopes for this place. I wanted it to be the best breakfast place near us but it wasn't. It was just okay. The ham on my Eggs Benedict were either overcooked or just naturally tougher than it should be, the steak was cold and too chewy. Two couples in our seventies had brunch here. We all four had a different type of breakfast. The food was all well prepared and it was good presentation. My only complaint was that you have to go from here to there and hither and yon in order to gather up all your stuff. All four of us ate on one order therefore we only had one buzzer and when the buzzer went off only part of our order was ready we had to wait at the counter for about five minutes for them to complete the order and then we had to go to the juice bar to get the juice and strawberries. A little confusing and a little convoluted. But the food was great. The staff was courteous and helpful. I would consider returning to this store, but only as a second or third choice. read more

This is one of our new regular spots. We love that it's casual enough to relax and go anytime, but the location is also very nice and classy at the same time. Very busy, the line was literally almost out the front door.... Sat at the bar; the bartender wasn't able to handle all of the people sitting at the bar.. They really should have 2 bartenders when it's busy.. We only ordered food, The American breakfast... It was bland and nothing special about it at all. Thanks to fellow Yelpers, we weren't confused when it came to this cute place! The floor to ceiling windows allow natural light to illuminate the place. Upon entering, menus can be found on the table on the right side. If you're going with company, have one person search for a table to save it while you order! You pick up drinks such as orange juice and smoothies at the bar area to the left of the registers. Coffee, tea, and sodas are self-served and can be found if you walk left of the registers and to the right! I love that they offer soy milk to go with coffee, which is usually an extra charge at most places. Once the buzzer goes off, you simply pick up your order on the left side of the register counter. Everyone there works hard and are friendly. It gets filled up pretty quickly, but as soon as a table is finished, the staff turns it over in no time. They also offer complimentary wifi for those interested! The password is conveniently located at the bottom of your receipt! I ordered the Eggs Benedict while my beau ordered the Texas Challah French Toast. We also ordered orange juice, which was fresh and delicious. The Texas Challah French Toast was great, but I think what made the dish was the amazing syrup that accompanied it! The Eggs Benedict was fine, but it didn't really stand out. I wished the Hollandaise had a bit more flavor; however, I fully appreciated the fact that the eggs were poached well! I hate cutting into my egg only to find that the yolk was over cooked and hard! The potatoes that came with my dish were a bit disappointing. Not only did it lack flavor, it tasted somewhat stale from either being old or from how it was cooked. Sooo very delicious! I've been here 3 times within 6 months and am a fan of every dish I order. Let's start with parking: it kind of sucks. Katy is very populated in general and you find all of the family from Katy and Richmond going to this place for breakfast and lunch on weekends. I can drive around for 5 minutes to look for a spot. Sometimes I park by the bank next to cafe. Then there's the waiting line: that kind of sucks more. There always seems to be a line from the checkout register going all the way to the door, so when you walk in you're greeted with it. Ok, if you're hungry like me when I show up, these things bother you...but those were the only 2 negative things (which really can't be changed, unless they get another register, which means more people, more lines, etc. You pick up a menu, there's a huge selection, and you remember what you want and check out (kind of like La Madeline's). They give you a buzzer and you can get your drink. It depends how busy & how much food you ordered, but it takes between 15-30 minutes usually. I do have a stressful time finding a table, since it's so busy. The food is amazing though, really top level cafe in my opinion. The breakfast omelettes and scrambled eggs are yummy. I also love their fish, sandwiches and pasta. Perfect sizes too. They have really good pastries. I always get the chocolate croissant and almond croissant. I also order some dessert like tiramisu or cake, which is so good. They probably bake these items in house. You can also order alcohol or custom coffees and their bar. I love the fresh squeezed grapefruit juice but at $3 a small glass, it is pretty damn pricey. Anyway, I always love coming back here. Tip: I tip a couple of bucks to the guys cleaning up. on the table, after we leave. You don't tip at register. The tables are clean and you can see these guys working hard, which sometimes makes me feel bad as I'm pigging out on my meal. read more

In the area and found this place via YELP. They have different seating areas which was pretty cool. We had the large comfy chairs by the front door with a bistro style table. Cafeteria style ordering , they give you a buzzer and you pick up your food. I did notice they have a cool bar area not sure if just beer and wine or full service. Very interesting way in which this place works. You walk in grab a menu, then go up to order, take your buzzer to a table and then go pick up the food. It is like you are your own waiter. This has pluses, as you have no worry about a waiter forgetting to come fill a drink up. The foods very tasty! I got the breakfast burrito. The price is good! The restaurant is very nice. A lot of people. We found sitting quickly. It's one of those places you stand in line and order and find a seat. They give you a pager and it will buzz when your food is ready to go get picked up. Which was different. The food was delicious. We both my mother and I had the lobster Benedict. I thought they were a bit stingy with the lobster probably only had a couple pieces. It was alright. My friend raved about the quantity of lobster was so much. The food has always been great, drinks are good and the atmosphere is just perfect. I love Black Walnut, I like not having to have a server and getting everything myself so this is my kind of place. The food is amazing, I ordered a turkey croissant sandwich with bacon and a side salad, which was delicious. Also the avocado ranch dressing on the sandwich was to die for, just enough so you could taste and did not take away from anything else. I've always been a fan of BWC and this location doesn't disappoint. It can be quite crowded at times since Katy is lacking breakfast/brunch places. When they are slammed, food could come out a little sloppy, but it's always tasty. Finish brunch with a Bellini or vanilla latte (depending on the weather of course) and you'll have a great day! read more

I like the variety offered here, especially when you have a picky group. My favorite is the grilled bacon, cheese and tomato sandwich. My daughter loves the burgers and grilled chicken sandwiches. Salads are really good along with some pretty good pasta dishes. My only complaint is the cost of drinks. They have a fancy soda machine just like a million other joints. I like this place a lot. Like a lot! I still don't know what I love so much but it's really good. I had the turkey burger and those SWEET potatoes fries.... Mmm. Now I know what I love so much about this places!. I've tried their tortilla soup, tomato soup, both great! Sirloin salad was really good minus the actual steak, it looked like it was previously cooked, like too many hours before, refrigerated and then placed on the salad. I don't know.
