Mia's table was a place we picked out for Saturday dinner. It's located in Katy off of Kingsland Boulevard and the Grand Parkway. It sits back on a side street and is a pretty big location with lots of parking. Inside was plenty of seating and a really big patio that wraps around the outside of the building. You order at the front counter and they give you a GPS type beeper that you place on your table and that's how they find you to bring your order. I had the Mac and cheese and chicken fried chicken and potato salad. I thought the chicken fried chicken was outstanding. It seems they are known for it. I enjoyed them very much. New to Katy and Mia's is right around the corner from our house. OMG!!! It's an unspoken rule for me that if there's chicken fried steak on the menu, I have to get it. It was unbelievable! I have gone to different Mia's Table in Houston but second time this Katy, location lacking customer service, hostess as you order and food. Not good at all. The other locations Cypress, Memorial City and Woodlands are better in comparison to Katy location. The manager was eating at a bar area was loudly to another employee. It was a late lunch time on a Saturday. The cheeseburger needed seasoning. But the fries were fresh and hot. My wife did not like tacos, expensive for grilled shrimps and they are overcooked and just The music is a bit loud too. It is not as busy as the other locations on a Saturday, I think my thoughts is because this location is not good and needs to be better in the other things I mentioned. The server lets us know up front that the fried chicken my husband wanted would take 20 minutes because it's cooked fresh. We didn't mind waiting and it was well worth the wait! The staff honestly could not have been nicer. Coming and going there were several people that said hello and goodbye and thank us for their business. They truly are building a positive culture with their employees that is rare to find now. Plus free self serve ice cream machine. It might be somewhere you look at the menu before you get there, because it's the style of restaurant where when you walk in the door you order at the counter and then you go find a seat and they bring you your food. So you don't have a whole lot of time to look over the menu. And they do have a lot of fried food, burgers, a good amount of appetizers. This is not a "healthy eating destination lol. I didn't see any adult beverage options other than beer (bottled and draft). However, onto the food: this is my second time eating there. I did forget to take pictures unfortunately, but last time I had the chicken strips, this time I had the chicken fried steak off of a recommendation for my parents. The chicken fried steak is huge it fills up the whole plate but....was super salty! The jalapeño gravy is OK my mom raves about it. But altogether I ate 4 bites of it; Same with my sister. We probably should've shared one but nobody told us that and my mom is all about leftovers. But she didn't really enjoy hers either so maybe it was just a bad night with whoever was battering or maybe that's just the one menu item to stay away from. When you go to pick your sides, this is what's important... you have to get the mac & cheese!!! I kind of wish I would've double sided on that but I was trying to be good and get a veggie. But I really enjoyed the macaroni and cheese. Their green beans had too many onions and broken pieces of green beans, which to me kind of resembled ones out of a can, but I don't know that's true. The fries are whatever, I'm glad I didn't get them. My son just kind of picked at them so I'm assuming they weren't his style. My son got the fried shrimp and was very pleased with it. It kind of sucks because it's not on the kids menu so I had to pay the full $19.99 for him to have that but he did eat really well so I was OK with it. So if you're still reading at this point, it's definitely somewhere that's worth a try. Its pricey! They do have great customer service though!!! And free ice cream! This is our 2nd visit (pervious was about a year ago) and the same thing happened at the previous visit. patrons order at the counter. Handed a lighted buzzer. And then find a table. I asked the counter how do we get our bar drinks. They said it would be brought to our table. We received our appetizer. I went to the bar and asked about our cocktails. She said she'd bring them when they were ready. We finished our appetizers and had our entrees and still no cocktails. I asked the man who brought our food, as he was taking our buzzer. He said the bartender would bring the drinks...... We were over half finished with our entrees before the bar tender brought our beer and mojito. there was one gentleman at the bar and the bartender was chatting with him a lot. This is a problem. When patrons order a bar drink it should be served promptly, as other restaurants do. This happened on our last visit also. We expect bar drinks with or before the appetizers, not AFTER we have finished most of our entrees. The food is great. Hot fresh great. its unfortunate they can't get this issue corrected. read more

I have never been to a restaurant quite like this. You order at the counter, and go fill your own drink (unless you get beer or wine) but from that point on it turns into almost a full service restaurant. It has a very lovely country vibe with a nice bright and clean dinning area that is very comfortable. We started with onion rings probably best ever had. They were huge, made from scratch and not over breaded. Every item we got was made from scratch. For our entrees we got chicken fried chicken with jalapeños gravy with Mac and cheese (the best) and a Cole slaw which was phenomenal. My husband got the chicken fried steak with jalapeño gravy and cream corn (out of this world) and creamed potatoes. The jalapeño gravy is not spicy just excellent flavor and not a heavy gravy. We also got banana pudding which was amazing. Then we realized they have soft self serve ice cream for everyone of all ages. This was so much an amazing place we also went back our 3rd night in town and once again they knocked it out of the park.
