Great food and service! We have brunch here every Saturday. We love the grits and shrimp and the toasted yolk breakfast.

I visited The Toast Yolk Cafe today for the first time, and unfortunately, it was not a good experience. We walked in, waited about five minutes, and were ready to order. Since it was our first time, we were looking around for a server and wondering who to approach. When the waitress finally came over, we greeted her politely. She responded, but then added an unwelcoming comment: "Are you just here or have you been waiting? If you just got here, please be patient." That really threw me off. As someone who has worked as a server before, I would never speak to customers that way. It felt unnecessary and rude. To make things worse, when our food arrived, I noticed what looked like a small metal piece (possibly a wire or bristle) on the plate next to the bacon. That's a serious food safety concern and very alarming. When the server came back, she didn't apologize or acknowledge the issue at all, which made the experience even more disappointing. Overall, between the poor service and the issue with the food, I was very disappointed. After this experience, this restaurant is now on my blacklist. I won't be returning. read more

Joined the waitlist for a table and after one hour sitting there, zero communication. Asked the lady how long and she had an attitude. Did not care. I asked if we could sit outside since there were open tables. Lots of head scratching and seeming like we were an annoyance. She got the manager who was equally rude but agreed to try and seat us. Amazing graciousness seeing as this is a restaurant. During this time , a customer from another table came and told us not to bother as they had been sat there for an hour with no food. Total chaos, no order , no management, no customer service! We usually go here whenever we drive to Katy but never again. Don't spend your money at places that you aren't welcome! read more

Among a shopping area flooded with things to do and eat, The Toasted Yolk Cafe stands out as a tasty brunch spot begging for your hunger. We arrived and sat outside due to having a dog, beating the small waitlist they had of people wanting to eat inside. Feels like it gets busy there so be prepared to wait (they don't take reservations). The interior and outside areas are clean and simple, ordering was also fast too. Our server was attentive and quick, although she did make a remark asking if one of our party was sure they wanted to order as much as they did. Ignoring that, ordering was smooth. We got their pancakes, French toast, a side order of bacon, side order of sausage, and ranch omelette with biscuits and grits. Everything was good but the standouts were the pancakes and omelette that were very filling and hit the spot. Not many brunch places can be consistently good across all dishes but Toasted Yolk certainly was. It's convenient, relatively cheap, and good food. It's a great way to set yourself up for a good rest of day shopping in the nearby area (which is exactly what we ended up doing.) read more

Always WOW. Food is impeccable. You definitely will not leave hungry. They do care about the quality of their food and portions are definitely Texas size. Don't think about any other breakfast joint. Price point is a little higher but well worth it. Had the toasted Yolk breakfast southern style and yop had to have a mule drink....which kicked me in the face for the morning lol. Great bartenders, servers, management, food, atmosphere. Keep it up yall and they have over the years. No slowing down here on a great breakfast, brunch and lunch establishment. read more

This chain has potential. Service and atmosphere: Service was on a slow side, however, our server was nice and polite. The place itself needs a bit TLC. Unfortunately, the AC wasn't working properly as we felt hot inside. Eating hot food and drinking hot coffee made the feeling worst. Food and drinks: The restaurant offers good selection of various breakfast and lunch dishes. I chose California omelette. It was prepared well. I just wish they added more feta cheese as it was not much of it. Other dishes we ordered were good. During our second day visiting TX for my mom's birthday, we took her to The Toasted Yolk Cafe for another round of breakfast. This was definitely our favorite breakfast spot during our trip! There's a ton of parking out front. The restaurant was packed but we were brought to our table immediately. Everything was clean and our waitress was very kind and welcoming. We had bottomless coffee that was indeed, bottomless and never went empty. Our breakfasts were all hot and delicious! My mom is particular about how her bacon is cooked and they crisped it exactly how she likes it. I loved the side of fruit each meal comes with, too. Everyone was thrilled with their meals. This was definitely a new favorite breakfast spot, I just wish I could bring it home with me! read more

Came here for a late Sunday brunch and perhaps I came too late. They close at 3pm and we arrived at about 2:15pm. I was looking forward to having some pancakes but unfortunately apparently they had "run out" of pancakes by that time. I've never heard of a primarily breakfast restaurant running out of pancakes. That put a damper on my experience because I wasn't really interested in their French toast or Belgian waffle. However, I ended up opting for the waffle. I had an omelette to go with it and it was quite a lot given they used 4 eggs which was unusual given most establishments use no more than 3 eggs. That aside it tasted decent, but it wasn't anything spectacular. The waffle was pretty basic, as it cost extra to add any toppings such as fruit. I think what impressed me the most about this place was their customer service. We had a very large party, including two kids and they were very accommodating of all of us despite coming within their final hour of business. The manager also stopped by to check in on us which was nice. We stayed well past 3pm to finish our meals and were never rushed out which I really appreciated. I may give this place another go based on service alone. I will just make sure to come earlier when they should still have all menu items available. read more

While I don't think it's the best in town, it's not bad! We actually wanted to go to black walnut but they were closed for renovations and decided to switch it up. I'm not mad at it! My first time here, and it didn't disappoint! 1. Atmosphere- not a quiet one, obviously, but not too loud either. I'm here on a Sunday afternoon, maybe the rush hours has already passed. But they do have nice outdoor seating as well. 2. Service - the waiter is very attentive. I asked for a half&half ice tea. He gave it to me, and came back few minutes later to check if I was okay with it! 3. Food - well seasoned. I had the Southwestern Egg Benedict with a side of grits and pancakes. The only think I wasnt so impressed with is the pancake. It is sweeter than most places, I didn't even need the syrup (which, Im okay with), but it's not fluffy enough and it felt almost as if it's overly moist that it didnt have that melt-in-your-mouth effect that I was hoping for. I was staying in a nearby hotel and found this restaurant. This is a neat spot to have brunch. They have covered outside seating and plenty of space inside. I went early Sunday afternoon and there is a kiosk to check yourself in when there's a wait. Before registering, it indicated the wait time was 11-32 minutes. I registered for a table of 1, the first available. Even though about 11 people were waiting, I was notified in less than 5 minutes (YAY)! The menu looked great, with colorful pictures of tasty-looking choices. But all I was interested in was breakfast. I had two eggs over-easy with French toast, bacon & hash browns w/ onions. Not an exciting choice, but a tasty one. The eggs were done perfectly, and the bacon was real b/c it was crispy and meaty. The hashbrowns were good, but I didn't get much onion in mine. However, I did eat the entire serving. The service was superb. The waiter was patiently smart. As I sat down, I had no opportunity at all to look @ the menu. She suggested she get me water as I looked. I agreed. Afterward, her timing couldn't have been better. She took my order, repeated it, and it showed up a few minutes later from the kitchen staff. Wasn't busy today (Friday) around 1:30 PM when I stopped by & it's pretty spacious inside. On Friday's there's $3 mimosas!! So I definitely ordered a few to try. The OJ mimosa was good, the strawberry OJ one was a bit sweet, & the cranberry mimosa was good as well. The ratio of mixer & champagne is really good as well! Ordered the southwest breakfast bowl ($13.29) with the eggs cooked over medium. I enjoyed my yummy meal & it was really good, but the eggs were a bit overcooked. I also ordered a biscuit ($2.19) & gravy ($2.89) on the side & the gravy tasted good. Everyone in my party enjoyed their food & I tried a bite of the chicken salad sandwich & it was flavorful.
