Had a couple of co-workers recommend this place for me. I love local restaurants, and this one did not disappoint! The wait staff are so nice and inviting, and the seafood..... OMGOSH!!!!!!! I got the crab bites, which are tasty, for an appetizer. I also got a plate of the sweet pickles, raw onion, and crackers. The pickles were so yummy. Now, to the main course: fried butterfly shrimp, fried oysters, cheese grits, and green beans. The seafood was really fresh. The oysters were plump and juicy. This place sucks ass. I ordered the all you can eat near closing. Now prior to closing we asked was it alright and they assured us it was. So that's what we ordered. When we went to order another order of the fish they informed us that the kitchen was closed. The waitress got the manager. The manager was SO RUDE. but she said the all you can eat was the same as the price as the regular meal. I just feel we should have been informed prior to ordering. read more

If you haven't tried the smoked turkey, you are missing out. Great taste and not dry. Have enjoyed the sandwich before, but last night had the platter and wound up with enough to carry home for a midnight sandwich. Family enjoyed a variety of seafood and all had a great experience. Steak was dry, water tastes like it has sulfer in it, but decent environment and good service.

The food was outstanding, but the service was terrible. We waited too long for someone to take our order, never got refills on our drinks and even getting the bill took forever. Wait staff are awesome, they took care of my party of 15 with ease, I had the Shrimp and Grits....it was amazingly flavorful, and the portion was more than enough (I'm a 340 pound guy). My wife ordered the Pork Chops but they looked better than they tasted, it was disappointing in the end. I would go back to eat here again though! read more

Farmed catfish, trout and lord knows what else. Creamed corn, slaw and tea too sweet to eat/drink. Hush puppies are dry and uninspiring. Too expensive for the quality of the food. Decor is dated and cold. The portions are big, but who cares if you're getting shrimp from Indonesia and trout from farms. I had a terrible day at Blackbeard's today. I was cheated out of my barbeque ribs. I eat at Blackbeard's al the time. I am suppose to get at least seven pieces of ribs in a half of slab box. I always orders the end pieces for myself. I got four pieces and a small piece that looked as if it had came of a bigger piece. When I called back to complain the girl said that I would have to bring the food back. I was so close to down town Leesburg to take care of my ill family member. Blackbeard's you have fallen off! This place has the best ribs in town. They fall right of the bone. The seafood is just typical seafood, but I choose it over Red Lobster nowadays. You get giant glasses for your drink and big portions for the price. I marked off a star because of that incident with the paper fish (search local paper), but that shouldn't be an issue anymore. read more

The service was decent. If you are accustomed to seasoning of any sort this definitely isn't the place to eat. Food is very bland!!!

If I only had one word to describe Blackbeards it would be "fried" - notice that the one word isn't "wonderful" or "best". If you love fried seafood, this is definitely a place to check out. I'm originally from Albany, but I currently live in Vegas. Whenever I visit I home I loved eating at this place. I called to make a pick up order and a Donna was Very Very rude not once but twice on the phone. A business that has been around for so long should know customer service is number one, even if you're having a horrible day. But on a great note, I was able to get some really good seafood from a new restaurant on Dawson Rd, and their customer service was AWESOME and the food was even more AMAZING!! Glad there are still great southern restaurants left here in Albany! read more

Folks, this is a catfish place. The only complaint I have is every time I go there the price has gone up. It is in the range of Longhorns, but does not have the salad and the good bread. So we rarely ever go here anymore because the price is too high for what you get. read more

Very good Southern style (fried) seafood. Nice hushpuppies too. Service was good. Prices are reasonable. Tea is good. I would have given 5 stars but, I saw a woman bring in a dog and they let her keep it with her in the dining area - gross! Blackbeard's was recommended by the desk clerk at the Albany Hilton Garden Inn and we thanked her on return. My wife ordered chicken fingers with a baked potato and I ordered a salad with chicken and bleu cheese dressing. Both servings were ample. The greens were clean, cold and crisp. The chicken was nicely seasoned. I was a bit disappointed when I saw the Cobblestone plastic packets of dressing, but this quickly disappeared when I tasted the copious amount of crumbled bleu cheese that had been put on the salad. It was extremely good bleu cheese and greatly enhanced the Cobblestone. I asked the waitress to ask the cook what brand cheese was used but the cook didn't know. It tasted as good as Maytag to me. My frozen Pina Colada was very good and served in a 12 ounce glass. We shared a delicious slice of Key Lime Pie before retuning to the hotel and visiting Ray Charles Park across the street with the full size sculpture of Ray at his piano that is the centerpiece of the beautiful park. It rotates slowly and his music plays on a sound system that needs work. read more

Our family visited Blackbeard`s in Albany, GA on June 7 2018, I have never written a bad review about any restaurant but this is the exception. The service was terrible. It took us 1 hour and 45 minutes to get our meal and that was after I asked where was it. The server stated it was slow because someone in our group of four had requested Grilled Mahi? But every other customer around us had eaten and left before we received our meal. Then I tasted my Country fried steak and it was bad and my wife took a bite of her Crab Bits and they tasted bad and we never finished the meal after 2 bites. Our bill was $105. and the Manager said she would give us $15.00 off the bill. WOW. We visit our Grandsons once a month in Albany and I will never recommend Blackbeard`s to anyone. I gave a one STAR rating because that is the lowest I could give it. And we left the server a $15. tip so it would not be said I was cheap. read more

I moved to Albany a year ago and finally found a place that was not a chain. The shrimp is delicious.. Sides are all good. We love it and take company there whenever we get visitors from Wisconsin. THE WORST SERVICE I'VE EVER HAD!! The server brought the wrong drinks. We ordered a margarita didn't even ask the flavor we wanted. We were brought Dirty silverware.
