Bob's Atomic Burgers serves a pretty good burger. I wouldn't say it's the best I've ever had, but it was flavorful, cooked well, and definitely hit the spot. The menu has plenty of options to customize your burger, and one thing I thought was unique is that you fill out a paper order form with all of your toppings before handing it to the staff to place your order. We chose to sit on the pet-friendly patio with our dog, Luna, which was great until a surprise downpour rolled in. The patio tables have umbrellas, but they weren't enough to keep us (or our food) dry. We ended up grabbing the condiments and finishing our meal in the car instead. Obviously, the weather isn't their fault, but a little more covered seating would have been nice. I also would have loved to see Thousand Island dressing offered as a condiment--it would have been perfect on my burger. Fresh avocado as an add-on would have been another great option to take it to the next level. Overall, it's a fun, casual burger spot with good food, a dog-friendly patio, and friendly service. My son and I stumbled across Bob's Atomic Burgers online while looking for somewhere to meet up for lunch, and I'm glad we did. It's located in Golden, Colorado, right across the street from the world-famous Coors Brewery, so the setting is already pretty cool and scenic. When we walked in, there was a table near the door with order sleeves and paper forms where you build your burger by choosing the meat, bun, cheese, free toppings, and extra toppings. They have a really good selection. I went with a single beef patty on a white bun with American cheese, pickles, raw jalapeños, tomatoes, green chiles, banana peppers, and a large fry. We turned in our order sleeves at the counter and ordered fountain drinks. When we mentioned it was our first visit, the staff gave us a very warm welcome. The young lady behind the counter explained a little about the place and how the ordering process worked, which was much appreciated. The burgers are made to order, so we waited about 10-15 minutes. Honestly, that worked out perfectly because indoor seating is limited, and during the wait we were able to grab a table. They also have outdoor seating, though it was raining when we visited. When the burgers came out, they looked amazing. I'd describe them as a cross between a smash burger and a traditional patty, and I really liked that. My burger was delicious, juicy, flavorful, and messy in the best possible way. The large fries came in the usual paper sleeve, but it was absolutely overflowing, and the fries were hot, fresh, cooked to order, and excellent. Naturally, we had to stop in for lunch the following day. He was not wrong! The wait staff was kind, we both ordered burgers with sweet potato fries and onion rings. From outside, this place does NOT look like somewhere that would have good food. My friend who lives in the Denver area suggested it and I was a little hesitant. When we got there, it was very busy with all the outdoor seating taken and a line out the door. Before getting to the cashier, you fill out a sleeve depending on what you want (burger, hot dog, or chicken sandwich). I got a burger, so I had to mark off what bun, toppings, and extras I wanted. At the cashier, you give them your sleeve and order any sides or drinks that you want. They then give you a random name for your order (I got Leatherface). The process to order takes a lot longer than it should. Despite them having you fill out a form, there's several options left off of that form like drinks and sides. This slows it down significantly. Bob's burgers is popular. Parking sucks. Expect to wait to place an order, sit down (or to go), and get food. Probably a good 20 minutes from start to finish. You get a sleeve/paper and you design your burger (or hot dog) to your liking with buns, protein, toppings etc + add fries or something else if you'd like.
