Course layout is great but condition and prices are not at all. 10-50 yard areas of most fairways unplayable unless moved to other patches of decent fairway. Greens are like carpet, actually makes putting easier but tough closer to the hole, that's how uneven it is. No reason to be cart path only either, some spots we're wet, which I get, but each fairway needs to be cut of weeds and filled in with holes and sand patches need to be dealt with. Staff was nice! Not worth it unless the price was below 35ish. Lots of potential though! read more

This was the worst course I have ever been to my brother and I just left after playing nine holes because the group in front of was was playing slow and when we went in to see if we can get a iou while in line one of the Marshalls called the front desk saying that we had just talked to them and we're upset about the course but he used some choice words while talking about us while we were in line and can hear him when in fact, we never talked to a Marshall in the first place so why this guy lied is another thing but then was rudely refused, and IOU because we were the only two group out of everybody playing in a group of four hey keep the $30 dollars and maybe you can reinvest it sum upkeep for your course if I could give it worse than one star on this app I would, never going back again. Don't GO save your time and money for a better course read more

Alright so this golf course is still fun to play on. The prices relatively affordable and they also offer a military discount with proof of Military or Veterans ID. The staff are always respectful and courteous. I can express enough how friendly they are here. Most golf courses usually can be staffed with pompous people. The course itself is a full 18 holes. You can play all 18 or just 9 holes. The up keep with the maintenance of course a lot of folks who are pro players most likely would want to not to play on this golf course. But of course your preference and opinions. My opinion, I still have fun playing on this course. Sand pits, well all you have to worry about is getting out of San Augustine grass if you land in one that used to be a sand pit. You can crab all your beverages and food from the main building. After the 9th you can park your cart and take a break from playing. One thing I that I do like about this place you can bring your own Yeti like cooler that is empty. All you have to do is buy your beverages from here. Other wise you get a plastic bag with ice and your beverages. I wished you could pre-order your food prior to playing the 9th hope. That would save customers time and delay on the course if they are choosing to play through. On the 10th now, it's very short due to road construction on Kelly Lane. This place is close to my neighborhood and I really enjoy playing here. read more

I describe it as if u tried to make a course as bad as u can condition wise. U still won't achieve how badly this course is. Golfing is supposed to be relaxing, not crushing and having a grumpy worker drive across the course multiple times to you when you're trying enjoy your time, to "educate and give rules". Love having Blackhawk golf course in the area. Been coming to this course for years and you can't beat the twilight price for 18 holes. I know golf courses in general around the city are short staff-- I just hope BHG gets some maintenance help on the course, the greens are a little rough and could use some love. read more

I'm a little late on this review but all of the negative comments on Blackhawk's conditions are 100% true. Do not play here because it is in unplayable shape. You'll ruin your clubs...I kid you not. For me, this is truly a shame because I actually LOVE Blackhawk. My buddies and I used to play Blackhawk when I was at UT (back in 1991) because it was affordable but also in really good shape. At that time, there were NO houses with the exception of a few. The course was in great condition for a $25-$35 round and it was a lot of fun. It was pretty far away from campus but it was worth it for us because it was the best course for the money. When the wind was up (which was about 90% of the time), it was a beast but the fairways were generous. Hole #2 and #10 are/were my favorites. When I decided to take a trip down memory lane and go play Blackhawk last year, I was absolutely appalled. This course should not be open right now. If you are the owner, you're clearly short on capital for upkeep (much less rehab) and you need to sell. I get it, life happens and it's REALLY expensive to keep a course in good shape but it's too far gone now; it needs a re-build to the tune of millions of dollars if it is to survive. Someone needs to buy it and rehabilitate it because it really was a fun track. Right now, it is being neglected which is sad. Hopefully the owner can sell the land, get a good chunk of change and someone else can return Blackhawk to its former glory. read more

If I could give this goat ranch zero stars I would. Horrible all the way around. We played Sat and Sunday. You get a lower back injury driving across the fairway. Greens have no grass and the ball rolls like it's in a Plinko game from the Price is Right. Pay the extra money and go to a decent course. Sincerely from the K5 crew. read more

Blackhawk Golf Course is in really poor condition. I knew it was a bad sign when there were not that many cars in the parking lot on a Sunday at 8 am. The fairways and greens are in bad shape. The golf carts are old and worn and ours had no acceleration. We had to switch it out after the first 9 holes. There was no beverage cart service available at this course and to make matters worse, there were no water jugs at any of the holes. It's summertime in Texas!!!! Lastly the women's bathroom in the clubhouse looked something out of a horror movie. It was in disrepair to say the least. read more

Whyyyyy does this course play soooooo bad? Carts are mismatch. Some have windshields others don't. Club house looks like a old trailer home. Doors slam, bathrooms are dark. Course IS NOT TAKEN CARE OF. no one cares. Buuuuut they charge for each rider whether you play or not. Greens are ok. Fairway is poor. Soooo much potential. I'd rather this course close than continue to charge people to play and be subject to this neglected course. So upset, I really want a refund. Our round started with a rude old man in the club house who was not happy we had a tee time. Then we were met by rude people who lived on the course, yelling at us and cussing at us. This course is completely overpriced and doesn't have any service to back it up. If I could give it a 0 star review I would. 10/10 would never recommend! read more

I knew we were in trouble when I noticed walking up that the putting green was a complete disaster. Completely dead, just Poana grass and sand. Poana on greens makes them unplayable. Going unchecked it protrudes any grass or sand, and as a result it knocks golf ball off line. Fairways are all hard pan as there is no grass to hit off of in the fairways. All the sand traps have turned into grass traps. There is no drinking water on the course. No bathrooms on course, with houses all around, so no where to go if you gotta go! Couldn't get my tee in the ground on the teeboxes. The carts are in terrible shape. There was no cart girl on the course on a Saturday, and to top it all off....there was a guy in blue jeans, cowboy hat and cowboy boot's playing n front of us. Paid $74 to play here today with my son. And $74 for 18 holes for 2, a cart and a bucket of range balls is HIGHWAY ROBBERY! The entire course is basically unplayable. Sadly, the poor condition of the course is due to years of neglect and mismanagement. The carts are in horrible condition. The cart paths are in worse condition than the carts. The staircase railings leading up to the clubhouse are both OSHA violations. Pay an extra $20 a person and play Forrest Creek, Star Ranch or Terravista. read more

Just bad. The club house was sketchy, dark, and pathetic. The carts are just as sketchy. The fairways are nonexistent and it's like hitting off concrete, the greens are a mixture of 4 different grasses and weeds. The bunkers... well their gone, grass has grown over them. The tee boxes are just low cut grass mixed with weeds. I mean, 50.00 bucks is way too much for the condition of this place. It's just sad. read more

I usually don't put out reviews, but I legitimately downloaded this app just to make sure this review is put on here. I tried this golf club out recently and let me tell you, from top to bottom, I have never been to a worse course. This "golf course" is not only in awful condition, but the entire staff is extremely rude. While playing, our golf cart ended up dying on the 17th hole, so we had to walk the last two holes. Not a big deal, but I expect the club to be respectful and give some type of store credit/refund for the inconvenience. They did not, and the "owner" Dan goes "you want me to give you a refund for you walking two holes?" If I'm paying to play at your course and paying the cart fee, I absolutely expect you to refund if it dies on us. Poor ownership, terrible course and rude workers. Do not go here, this is by far the worst course in Austin, Texas. read more

I don't think this course deserves the current average of a 2.5 star rating. They are short-staffed, and the course is clearly under construction with much improvement still needed. A few of the tee boxes were a bit rough, fairways were hard but that works out since my drives rolled for days. Greens were like putting on glass, I just could not slow my rolls down. Hot dogs at the turn with coffee to get right for the last 9 on an early Sunday morning outing, we had fun. Beers to end the day on the deck while in 65 degree Sunday weather, I would be inclined to return. The course is long and challenging, with plenty of water, but thankfully no sand and basically wide open. The community of golfers that play here should be kinder on the ratings. This golf course has a great potential. read more

This course is in really bad shape. Crab grass is large and numerous in the fairways. All the sand traps have been very poorly sodded over. Greens are ok, but need attention. Dry and cracked ground spots are everywhere, and in other spots muddy and tore up. Carts all look like they are on their last leg- bad brakes, and busted up. Then there is the poor service. We got to our tee time on time but the group ahead of us was still waiting on their 4th, so we went ahead- at our tee time. They teed off behind us causing a delay for those behind them- not our fault. On the 2nd hole the Marshall comes up to us and incredibly rudely said we are playing too slow and need to play faster. It tried to explain its not our doing, but he literally yelled at us to get moving. He yelled at us... and swore. I remained calm and I said we would let the group play through, but again it's not our play holding everything up. He continued to be aggressive and said if we kept talking back he would kick us off... this is halfway through the 2nd hole. I reported it to the manager after our round was done, but he didn't seem to care. No apology, he just said very uninterestedly - I'll talk to him... Giving this place a 1 star generous. Course is very bad. The employees are rude and don't care, and all the equipment/facilities are very run down. Just because it's low cost, doesn't make this a deal- pick another course to play. read more

Kizer/Clay/Morris Williams are about the same price but they are significantly better than Blackhawk. Greens and tee boxes are OK. Fairways are OK to really poor. There are a few good holes with some horribly scary holes due to the proximity of houses. If you are a beginner OR have difficulty keeping it relatively straight, think twice about coming out here. I'd venture to guess some houses get peppered on a daily basis due to the layout. Blackhawk does have significant distances between a few holes so I have always taken a cart here. I prefer to walk but no biggie. I haven't had issues with the staff. I guess the rule of thumb is be respectful of them and they will be respectful to you. read more

Played here probably 5 years ago, went back today, 3/31/22 and it was as bad if not worse than it was. Greens are basically unplayable. The tee boxes are garbage. The range balls....the range balls are legit relics, I found one in there you could sell as a vintage golf ball. Place is a joke of a course, the day you make your money as a golf course owner is the day you sell it....that time has come. Sell it to someone who wants to maintain it (forest creek and star ranch are close enough and legitimately 20x better) or let someone build some homes on it. Oh, and the carts, terrible and dangerous. Would like to add something positive but even $40 felt like too much for this place. read more

On April 23, my daughter & her husband attempted to play golf here & they ended up having a nightmarish experience of which the poor management never tried correcting! My son in law who is a first responder decided to surprise her with a golf outing..unbeknownst to them confirming a tee time online, there were new COVID laws in place that were unbelievably silly. They live in the same household but were told they'd have to rent a separate golf cart! It was as if management wanted to capitalize on the pandemic.. as it would've been $80 more to do that. They're a small family of 4 who couldn't afford that.. upset, they asked for a refund of their online fees & the rude man who worked there told him sarcastically and rudely: happy anniversary! I called and spoke to a woman who assured me after trying to defend their sick actions, that the manager would give him a call to correct the situation. No surprise that they didn't bother! I'd stay as far away from this place as possible as they do not care about their customers enough to even be cordial and apologetic. You ruined an essential employee's only opportunity to celebrate their annual celebration and were arrogantly obtuse about it. No excuses for this. read more

Well they have all 18 holes on the property, so that's a plus if you like to complete a round. The minus is that they only have 17 tee boxes. Do not expect to have your putts roll smoothly. There is enough cabbage growing out of the greens that an arena full of bunnies would never go hungry again. Do you enjoy hitting off a road? Well you are gonna love this place. You won't find a single place to pick a wedge off the ground. You are way better putting anywhere within 60 yards of the green. The plus of this course is that you are almost assuredly gonna hit all fairways in regulation. There is no difference between the rough, fairway or "sandless" bunkers. I would suggest a variable pricing model based on the level of bad the course looks that day. Anywhere from $29-$38 would do for me. Take it easy on the bridges as well. Those look as reliable as trying to get a T-bone steak off a chicken. Hope you don't get scared by haunted houses. Your clubhouse has a nice don't check the basement after nighttime rolls around vibe. Lights do a lot to set a mood. read more

Hadn't played here for years and expected some improvement but was disappointed. Tee boxes in poor shape. Fairways need to be watered, but they could at least mow the tall weeds. The greens weren't bad but your putt is more likely than not to be impacted by their condition. I can find so many better courses in town. read more

If they told me people were able to drive the carts on the greens I would believe them. You basically just have to get lucking when putting as there are so many bumps on the green. You play out of hard dirt in the fairway half the time and there are no bunkers so I think the sand out of them and stuck it on the green. read more

$45 for a course with more ruts than the local dirt bike track, sand traps that were only semi playable because of the rain and greens that have been spray painted! I was asked if I had a collard shirt to change into because there was a course dress code, when I replied no I was told that's ok because no one was really going to play today. I won't be back. So I drive by here daily and always think, Scott, that place looks awesome!" We played on Saturday 4/13/13; I arrived at 11 for a 12 t-time and was infomred they did not have any range balls available. So I asked for my cart and I would just put or chip; no carts until 10 minutes prior to t-time. So Beer thirty, they do have Ziegen on draft which is a double bonus in my book. The cafe is an old Fema trailor from Nawlins with astro turf carpet. Golf pro was nice but the Cafe staff seemed a bit rushed, but hey it s golf course so who cares. This course was really dry, sand traps were concrete and the areas leading up to the greens were not in great shape. I should have prefaced this review witht the fact that I rate my golf game off how many balls I lose so take it for what it is. None of the the above mentioed would bugg me if we didnt pay almost 50 bucks plus beer and food to play. read more

This review is based on several different experiences. Also it should be noted that I am not a serious golfer, I do it to hang out with friends and co-workers. TLDR: Call them before you go to make sure their range / computers are working. If they are not, skip. So I went to play here with 4 other guys. Critical problem #1: their computer system was down. I later found out it had been down for 4 days. Their solution was writing down peoples credit card numbers. Pretty sure that is not PCI compliant. Minor problem #1: the range was unavailable or there were no balls or you had to pay extra. Was foggy on the reasons but it seem to me that if you show up to play you should be able to warm up. The course itself is not badly designed, at least for someone at my skill level / experience. However some of the more experienced players were noting that the course was in rougher shape Critical problem #2: We were getting rushed by the range martial. Golf is not a speed based activity. I crossfit on the weekdays for that. Also I stopped taking flack from people like this when I left elementary school PE. If the range martial had a problem, he can find a way to solve it that does not interfere with us having a good time and moving at the pace that feels good to us. Furthermore timing problems between the groups was largely caused by their computer issues. I resisted saying anything and kept my blood pressure below my weekday average. Just a note on upkeep. Their parking lot could use a repave or at least having the lines repainted. Since I live in the vicinity, their practice range is my easiest option. Despite being the most expensive place to actually practice ($12 for 100 balls). However I have learned to NEVER!.... NEVER! just go without calling first. 50% of the time I do this the range is randomly closed for some reason. I heard a rumor that this place has new management so maybe things will get better. But I will not go back until I start hearing good things. read more
