Don't go to Forrest Creek golf club, especially on Wednesday nights if you don't want to contract COVID. I've yet to be at an establishment with such relax rules on masks and distancing. Everyone seems to be doing their part except Forrest Creek. I will not be going back anytime soon.

Excellent value for the money, greens and fairways are in great shape! Clubhouse food is decent, all the carts came with iced bottled water.

Weekdays are $25 an hour per person, basically a small premium to hitting a driving range with very accurate technology on distances and spins. It's also nice to be given metrics on contact angles to help with adjusting the game if you're looking yo fine tune stuff. They have thousands of courses to choose from and honestly can play 18 in less than an hour if playing at a reasonable pace. The putting action is also pretty decent which I found tough at other simulators. They aldo have additional stuff as well including a full bar with bar food, a ping pong table, and putting green area. Love supporting local businesses who also don't price like a Top Golf! This will be a regular spot to fine tune my game and stay out of the heat.

This place has been around for a long time, but as a golfer, I would prefer to spend my time on the…read morecourse rather than at a venue like this. However, due to the heat and my limited time recently, we decided to make a reservation and give it a try. Honestly, we had a good time. We played a game against each other that was a bit like bowling, where you earn points based on where you hit the ball. We played three rounds of that game, as well as another one that was designed to mimic playing at Pebble Beach. Unfortunately, the more realistic game didn't appeal to us golfers, as we couldn't get a true sense of the flag's location, among other factors. We made a 90-minute reservation, but they literally shut everything down right at the 90-minute mark, which was disappointing because one of our group still needed to hit four more balls to finish the game properly. They offer clubs that you can use, or you can bring your own. The clubs provided have a peculiar feel, but they are easy to hit, which is likely their intention. The facility has three floors of bays. Some bays feature high tables while others have couches with tables. I'm not sure how to reserve each type, but I'm glad we got the couches instead of the high tables. I thought we would avoid the heat by going in the morning, but the way the bays are oriented, they actually get full sun during that time. As a result, you cannot use the screen at the mat because the sun shines directly on it. I would recommend going around noon or later to get more shade, especially during the summer months. As for the four-star rating, I have to mention a $12 per person fee for first-time visitors. While I understand it's a one-time charge, it still feels a bit off. I'm impressed with the technology, and I'm sure I will return in the summer months when I want to escape the heat for five hours. The place does show some wear; the couch cushions could use a refresh. We did not try any food or drinks, but a quick glance at the menu revealed prices that I found a bit high. I did see ads for what appeared to be a good family deal for just $170 during the summer, which would be a bargain. The mini-golf course on the main level needs some attention; it's uneven and not flat. Additionally, there are some issues with the main entrance due to road construction on Burnet, which would have been nice to know about before we arrived.

That's a whole different experience. No worrying about the heat or cold, great food and drinks delivered right to your table, and plenty of laughs with friends. The FABulous Five Yelpers decided to hit up Topgolf, and of course, in my rush to get out the door, I forgot my phone...basically my human appendage. I didn't realize it until I was almost there, so I had to make a U-turn and head back home, which put me a bit behind. By the time I arrived, everyone was already checked into the Topgolf system. One of my friends asked me to play for her, and luckily, I won the first game...great start! I followed that up with a second-place finish in the next round, which wasn't too shabby either. Another game and I dropped to the bottom portion of the screen. Our area was on the first floor about mid-field. The open air, covered golf session was enjoyable. To be transparent , I didn't go to Topgolf to sharpen my golf skills...I went for some good, wholesome fun with friends. We covered just about every topic imaginable (dating, vacationing, zodiac signs...to name just a few) and spent the rest of the time laughing and enjoying the moment. Another set of great memories with the FABulous Five.

But of course your preference and opinions. My opinion, I still have fun playing on this course. Sand pits, well all you have to worry about is getting out of San Augustine grass if you land in one that used to be a sand pit. You can crab all your beverages and food from the main building. After the 9th you can park your cart and take a break from playing. One thing I that I do like about this place you can bring your own Yeti like cooler that is empty. All you have to do is buy your beverages from here. Other wise you get a plastic bag with ice and your beverages. I wished you could pre-order your food prior to playing the 9th hope. That would save customers time and delay on the course if they are choosing to play through. On the 10th now, it's very short due to road construction on Kelly Lane. This place is close to my neighborhood and I really enjoy playing here.

Let's be real, GCC is never going to host a US Open qualifier. But now that that's out of the way, my advice is to take this place for what it is instead of complaining about what it is not. It is NOT a super long or super challenging course. It IS a beautiful, old school golf course that is well maintained and cleverly laid out. The course was built in 1925 so many of the fairways are pretty narrow. If you're used to just bombing away, slices be damned... you won't play very well here. But if you enjoy figuring out tricky approaches and aren't intimidated by hilly lies, there's plenty here to keep even the best players engaged. What about the club? Same principle applies. Take it for what it is, not what it is not. The club itself is NOT a place where you'll see Teslas and Ferraris in the parking lot. And you're probably not going to find investors for your new startup here. But you ARE going to find great people and a tight little community. The bar is busy most nights and the food is good. If you've been a member at any golf clubs, you know that these are not things to be taken for granted. The tennis community is active and the club is very friendly towards children and families. Basically, this might be the perfect country club for people who never thought they would want to join a country club. If that's you, you'll love it! If not, you've got plenty of other great choices.
