I have taken my dogs to Dr. Nick for over twenty years now. His care and expertise are superb. His staff is super friendly and efficient. I am dealing with a 15-year-old miniature Aussie, a 12-year-old Yorkie, and a 13-year-old Chihuahua. I also have a daughter who is a shelter vet! She helps me out as much as she can but Dr. Nick is my go-to Vet when I have concerns or issues with their care as we have such a history with him. I know some people feel Veterinary Care can be expensive but his pricing is fair and he won't push you into doing more than necessary and always gives you options. As a parent of a Veterinarian, you have no idea the cost of Vet School, Insurance, and running a business. With younger pets get insurance!

Blackhawk Vet is by far and away the best vet we've used in our area. Dr. Bricaud and his team care and show respect for their patients and parents. Our dog recently had surgery thru Blackhawk, and the care before during and after has been phenomenal. So glad we came back and love the vets, the technicians and the front desk staff.

Dr. Nick, Rylan, and the staff at Blackhawk Vet are amazing. We've been taking our three sweet kitties there for 2.5 years. Every interaction is shown w/care. January 2, our 15-year old ragdoll, Tiffy was very sick with renal disease. Dr. Nick and Rylan walked us through procedures that we could care for her at home. Dr. Nick is very kind, yet straight-forward which is exactly what we wanted/needed. Our Tiffany passed a week later with sweetness and dignity. We will always love her so much. They checked-in with us and even offered to come in on a Sunday if we needed help. After her passing, they sent a beautiful white rosebud and vase and as well as a card that the whole office signed. We are thankful to Blackhawk Vet for the care that they provided us during this very sorrowful time. We will continue to go to Blackhawk Vet with our other two fur babies because of the knowledge and care they have provided our family . Our sincerest gratitude, Emma Greenhalgh

So happy with our recent visit! My poor dog was not feeling well so I brought her to see Dr. Nick. He was very thorough and caring. Quickly diagnosed and answered all my questions. Charlie was feeling much better by the time we got home. You can tell Dr. Nick and his staff are so compassionate about all animals. I was also very happy with how clean the waiting room was. I highly recommend Blackhawk Vet!

I frantically started looking into some other options but as luck would have it, I remembered that my favorite masseuse, Wendy Goldstein, also did house and animal care. I called Wendy immediately and told her the dates we needed, what we needed and serendipitously, she was available for the entire time frame. Wendy made arrangements to come to the house a week before our departure with a contract that laid out everything needed to make our time away as stress free and helpful. We showed her around the house/how things worked (her contract even asked for info on where the water/gas shut off is located, etc.) and introduced her to the dogs. As many of you who have read my reviews in the past know, we have 2 dogs(both rescues) and one of which who has been a tri-pawed for almost 2 years now. Beckett who just turned 9 and who Kevin has had for the past 8 years has always had back and neck issues, but with the running around with only 1 back leg he has started to develop some sciatica issues and had been on an anti-inflammatory and a pain medicine. When we told Wendy about Beckett's back, she felt his spine and said, "she would work on him while we were gone as a spine is a spine". I know Wendy has been instrumental when I have had sciatic flare ups, so I told her to work her magic. We were gone for almost an entire week. I spoke to Wendy only twice during our time away. She let us know Beckett was again jumping on the couch on his own, that she hadn't had to give him any pain medicine and that all in all he seemed to be walking and doing better (I had a feeling she would be magical for him). Holly our 4 1/2 year old(we have had her for 2 1/2 years now) is a little more difficult with new people and Wendy did report it took her a couple of days of us being gone until she was willing to sleep in the bed (she chose to sleep in a dog bed in Kevin's office) instead until she was comfortable. Our mail was taken in, the plants were watered, the sheets and towels were laundered and the bed was remade with the fresh sheets upon our return. The house was as clean as we left it-the dogs were not traumatized like they often are after boarding and neither picked up any new bad habits (like a deeper bark or barking incessantly which happened during their last time boarding the beginning of November). Let me just say that aside from the cost savings of having a dog/house sitter vs. boarding 2 dogs is enormous. To add to this our vet charges an extra $4-5 per day if a medication needs to be administered to a pet while boarding (even if they prescribed it), AND the vet charges a "premium" during peek holiday times. On top of all of this, having what is now considered a Senior Dog who has some physical limitations and a house that needs more tending to than our last house, having someone like Wendy in our lives makes it virtually a no-brainer if/when we have more trips when we can't take the dogs with us. Her prices are more than reasonable, her care of our home and animals was(is) immeasurable. She is also the best masseuse I have ever been to if you are not in the market for a house/animal sitter. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. Use Koru training instead!…read more I am beyond frustrated. I contacted Shane via his website form asking if he could train a dog who had bitten. I needed it for a PDA permit and explained the situation. He said he could absolutely help and wanted me to come down and do the training. I asked if we could speak on the phone first to make sure we were a good fit before I spend the money and time to bring my dog down. We played phone tag as he doesn't return calls on a daily basis or even every 2 days. After 2 weeks we finally connected and he acted like he had no idea what I was talking about then said he doesn't do training for dogs that had bitten in the past?! He specifically told me he could help with this in his email and that he would even send a letter confirming completion of the training. Then he changes his mind, said he couldn't help me and wasted 2 weeks of my time. So sounds like he only does easy training like commands. I can do that. Sit, stay, come and walk. I can't believe he doesn't do aggression or behavior training as his website and emails lead you to believe he does. Go with Koru training instead!!! This guy is misleading. Koru is very upfront and has many choices. They are awesome and do it all. In home, board and train, behavior, aggression, everything. All over the East Bay. They were wonderful and not misleading at all.
