Picture of the kitty who they helped

Wonderful people work here. They are communicative and friendly with people but even better with pets. When we had taken our ornery kitty elsewhere, we were assured that he would need to be put under in order to be worked on, but Pleasanton Veterinary Hospital staff were able to work with him while he was still conscious. When they found out that we were struggling to find somewhere to preform a pricey surgery (The only other location we found quoted us 7k for the operation), they were able to move around their schedule to get us in for a much more affordable rate. They absolutely care about the animals they work with and went above and beyond for us.

Dogs, Cats, Hamsters, Lizards, all of the little creatures are welcome here- scales, fur, it doesn't matter. Out first visit here was a wonderful experience. I called to see if they treat reptiles (exotic pets), and fortunately they do. They are very polite and accommodating on the phone. Our bearded dragon needed his claws trimmed, so we scheduled a check up and trim. They are easy to find, located in a nice little shopping center with excellent restaurants, a health food store, and a few other nice shops. This was during Covid, so the techs and the vet came out to speak with us. These professionals are not only excellent with animals, but with kids too. They welcomed any questions, and really took their time with us. My nine year old loved the whole experience. Now our bearded dragon is in tip top shape with a new manicure. I would also like to add that it was fairly reasonable, which came as a relief. Thank You, Pleasanton Veterinary Hospital for taking great care of our pet. Puffy is your new patient, and we are your new fans.

The day after we brought the kitten home, she developed diarrhea. I called to schedule an appointment, but they didn't have any "new pet" (one-hour) appointments available for over a week. I booked the earliest one, but asked if they could at least order a fecal test in the meantime. They said no. Instead, I was told to call the next morning to try for a same-day appointment, where a vet could then order the test. I called right at 7:30 am and was able to book a same-day 30-minute appointment for 10:30 am. Problem solved, or so I thought. Minutes later, they called back and canceled it. The reason: my kitten hadn't been seen before, so she required a one-hour appointment, which they didn't have available for a week!!! I explained that this was a stray kitten with active diarrhea and asked if she could at least be briefly seen, or if I could simply pay for a fecal test and treatment. They said that wasn't possible. Then they said they spoke to the vet, who would try to fit me in that same day but couldn't give a time. The vet had approved a 30-minute visit, so I rearranged my day and worked from home to wait for their call. At 10:23 am, they called back and told me they actually had no availability that day at all--and that I'd have to wait a week. Their only suggestion was to call again the next morning and try for another same-day appointment. At that point, it felt like a nightmare on repeat!

Always great! If you need same day appointments call as soon as they open. We bring of our pups…read morehere

Nowadays, the staff is wise to her tricky ways. We've been coming here for years, for multiple pets. The care has always been outstanding. They can walk your dog, and also give your dog treats. The boarding also includes a free bath before you pick Fido up. Today, the staff was taking Christmas photos of the dogs. It's just like when you go with your child to visit Santa, except it's a dog instead of a child. And there's really no Santa either. But you get the idea. If you're looking for a place that is dedicated to taking good care of the fido, this is the place.

No phone call, no waiting on hold, just a few clicks on the website and we were set. When I arrived a little early, I figured we'd be waiting a while, but they brought us in right away. Miranda, the nurse who first saw us, was kind and gentle with Ezri, and her calm energy helped ease my nerves. Then I met Dr. Mason, who was just as kind. She listened carefully, addressed all of my concerns, and explained everything in a clear and respectful way. I never felt rushed or talked down to, which is something I really appreciate. Some tests were run, and once the results were ready, Dr. Mason personally called to go over them with me. She was just as thoughtful and patient over the phone, making sure I understood everything and felt confident in the next steps. I'm extremely satisfied with the care we received. Everyone was compassionate, professional, and genuinely seemed to care about my boy. I wouldn't hesitate to come back here or recommend them to anyone who loves their pet like family.

Our sweet girl's health declined very suddenly...she couldn't sleep, was struggling to breathe, and her heart was failing. We were faced with the difficult choice of going to a vet clinic or finding an in-home euthanasia service. We found Heaven from Home and reached out to Dr. Wensing. Although she was initially fully booked, she took the time to speak with us and even recommended other in-home services to try. Unfortunately, none had availability, and we were preparing ourselves for a traditional vet visit...something we knew would cause our already fragile girl a lot of anxiety. Then, Dr. Wensing called back. She had a cancellation and could come that same day. It truly felt like a blessing. She arrived with such compassion and calm presence, and because of her, our girl was able to pass peacefully in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her family. It meant everything to us to give her that kind of goodbye. We could not have asked for a more caring, professional, and humane experience during one of the most heartbreaking moments of our lives. If you are facing a similar situation, I cannot recommend Dr. Wensing and Heaven from Home enough. We are forever grateful for the kindness and dignity she gave our beloved companion in her final moments.

My dog, Peaches, was referred to SAGE by her veterinarian in Fresno after she began experiencing…read morebloody discharge from her vulva. Despite their best efforts, her veterinarian was unable to determine the cause because they didn't have the specialized equipment needed to perform an endoscopy and take a closer look. Unfortunately, the earliest appointment available at SAGE was a week away, which I completely understood given the demand for specialty care. In the meantime, Peaches needed immediate attention, so I took her to an emergency veterinary hospital in Fresno. There, they sedated her and discovered a foxtail deeply embedded in her vaginal wall. Although they removed it, they couldn't say with certainty that it was the sole cause of her symptoms and strongly recommended that we keep our appointment with the internist at SAGE. I'll admit that after reading some of the reviews online, I was worried that I might be pressured into unnecessary procedures or expensive treatments. I couldn't have been more wrong. From the moment we arrived, I was impressed. SAGE truly operates like a full-service hospital, with the equipment and specialists needed to address complex medical issues all under one roof. Most importantly, the care and professionalism we received were exceptional. Dr. Miller was absolutely amazing. He came into the room already familiar with Peaches' medical history and had clearly taken the time to thoroughly review her records before meeting us. That level of preparation immediately put me at ease. After examining Peaches, Dr. Miller explained that she appeared to be in very good health. He discussed the option of performing additional diagnostic procedures to investigate further and provided a detailed cost estimate. While the procedure was expensive, it was understandable given its complexity. What I appreciated most was his honesty. He told us that, based on her exam and improvement, he didn't feel additional procedures were necessary at that time. Instead, he recommended monitoring her closely and reassured us that if the bleeding returned, we could contact him directly and he would make himself available. His honesty, transparency, and genuine concern for Peaches meant so much to me. Rather than pushing unnecessary testing, he helped us make an informed decision that was truly in our dog's best interest. We also discussed some ongoing digestive issues Peaches has experienced over the years. Dr. Miller offered helpful recommendations, sent us home with food samples to try, and even offered to write a prescription should we decide to switch her diet. As pet parents, we all want veterinarians who are knowledgeable, compassionate, and honest. Dr. Miller and the entire team at SAGE exceeded my expectations in every way. I am incredibly grateful for the care they provided to my sweet Peaches. Thank you, Dr. Miller and the entire SAGE team!

Dr. Beth Lieblick assessed everything quickly and chose the least invasive option first. After anesthesia, she was able to push the blockage down into his stomach so he could digest it naturally instead of going straight to a major surgery. Our dog stayed overnight for monitoring and came home the next morning safe and stable. Communication was clear the entire time, and the team was professional, calm, and genuinely kind during a very stressful situation. * In terms of cost, this is emergency care, so it is expensive. The initial diagnostic alone was around 1300 dollars. With bloodwork, X rays, anesthesia, the procedure, overnight monitoring, and medications, the estimate initially went up to 14000 dollars. The final total ended up being about 6600 dollars after adjustments. Even knowing emergency care costs more, it is still a financial shock when you are facing a possible life threatening situation for a family member. * We are giving 4 stars. The doctor and team absolutely deserve recognition for their professionalism and friendliness. The only reason we are taking off one star is the price. While we understand emergency care is costly, the numbers can feel overwhelming. Our advice is to get pet insurance if possible. If a bill in the thousands or potentially over ten thousand would be difficult, it is worth researching emergency options ahead of time. For us, what mattered most is that our family member came home safe.
