This is a sad review for me because I had to say goodbye this week to my best friend and dog-son Wishbone. Wishbone has been going here since we've adopted him when he was a 1 year old pup. I didn't realize that most of the staff has watched him go from a young dog to an old dog. So when he got sick, one of the tech's told me not only did it affect my family, it affected the staff as well. Over the years, we have taken Wishbone in for either routine work or to have him checked out and bounce back. We had one situation where an ER Vet Hospital misdiagnosed him at 10 years old, but we got a second opinion from Dr. G and confirmed a benign mass instead. On this visit, things weren't the routine which resulted in my dog being monitored for three days with IV treatments and (2) X-rays, and he would go home with us and back in the next morning. I'm not going to lie, this visit wasn't cheap, especially if you don't have pet insurance. My dog was 15 years old - he had a great life and he will always hold a special place in my heart. However, when it came to decide what was best for him, we were able to discuss it with Dr. G and his staff and make an informed, but difficult decision. It was comforting knowing we were able to spend as much time as we needed with Wishbone until it was time for us to go. We were not rushed out. In fact, our daughter was able to face time her dog-brother so she spend a few minutes with him. As difficult as it is to write this review, I just wanted to let you know that when it's time to say goodbye, they have been very accommodating and thoughtful. read more

I had a very disappointing experience when calling to inquire about euthanasia pricing. The staff member, Jake or Josh ( one of the names he mentioned ) responded to my accidental call to the wrong veterinarian by saying, 'Well, you obviously called the wrong vet because our prices do not change overnight,' and then hung up on me. This response was both rude and unprofessional. Answering phones in a polite and respectful manner is essential, especially in sensitive situations like this. Really wish I didnt feel the need to write an updated review on a place that has treated us well for the last several visits until a recent visit for a dental last week. the next day following the dental, I noticed my dog had bruising on her neck. I know that blood can be drawn from the jugular, but I've never seen bruising like that before and it looked quite big for a dog her size (she is about 8lbs). I took pictures and immediately emailed the photos to the vet and asked for confirmation if blood had been drawn from there just to give me a piece of mind. I received a response the following morning saying it was normal and they would have the doctor review it. but my question was avoided as to whether blood was drawn from there or not. fast forward to the afternoon - no email or call. I decided on calling later in the afternoon and repeated the same information from the email and asked the same question. again, it was not answered and it was just "it's normal. hold on, let me ask." I was really frustrated that a simple question could not be answered and I was not reassured as a concerned pet parent as to why there is bruising on my dog's neck. I even said I could leave work and head over to bring her to get checked since I was worried about the size of the bruise and of a possible clotting issue and I was asked if it could wait until tomorrow. after expressing my frustration, I was told I would receive a call from the doctor by the end of the day with an explanation. to this day, I never received a call from the office. whether or not it was normal, an explanation or reassurance as to WHY it is normal (or even confirmation of location of a blood draw) would have been appreciated. I felt my concerns weren't valid or thoroughly acknowledged and for that reason, I have updated my review. read more

It wasn't until they told me it was going to cost over $700 to get my dog spayed. I consulted another vet who quoted me $400 which seems a lot more reasonable. I recently took her in because she had an eye infection, and they quoted me over $400 for treatment. I had them remove some things off the treatment list, and after paying over $300 on 3 different medications, my friend who worked as a vet technician informed me that I only needed one of those items to help treat her eye... It infuriating because I have been struggling financially due to the pandemic. The last thing I need right now is to be taken advantage of by some a-hole who makes more than enough money as a veterinarian, especially with what he's charging his clients... I don't know how this place hasn't been reported to the BBB. Absolutely ridiculous and I will be taking my dog and cats elsewhere from now on. read more

Having recently moved to the east bay, it was impossible to find a last minute appointment without being an existing patient. We finally called SRVH, and they were able to see us the next day. Communication/Reception - Making an appointment was easy and Kim who we spoke to was very helpful. - New patient forms were available online. We were able to fill and submit in advance, which made check in easier. - Curbside service due to Covid was a breeze. - Vet tech who received our dog was friendly and reassuring of our pup. Medical Treatment - Did not have to wait long for Dr Goraya to come out and explain the diagnosis after the exam. - Clearly provided an explanation of treatment options. - We were able to decline lab/tests and provides ones from our previous vet. - Prices were fair, especially given that the practice is AAHA accredited. It was a relief to see that we weren't going to be saddled with a high bill, just because of its urgent nature. Discharge - Clear instructions (written and verbal) for at home care for recovery - Medications were clearly labeled and instructions easy to follow - Received a call to pick up our dog in the window they provided at the beginning - No surprises on final bill. Words can not express how grateful we are for Dr. G and his wonderful team! Our dog Izzy accidentally ingested some Hersey kisses chocolates. She was fine and acted normal for the first 2 days, and we thought she was able to handle it and all is good. But, the morning of the 3rd day, she became very lethargic and became critical all of sudden, so we called Dr. G office right away. It was Saturday morning around 9 o'clock, but they told us to come in right away. When we got there there was little time of waiting, maybe 5 mins and they took Izzy in right away for an emergency. Dr. G and his team handled Izzy really well, they explained what are the recommended procedures and it was clear. Izzy had to be hospitalized for them to flush out all the toxin from her system. We had to leave Izzy there so Dr. G and his team can give her appropriate procedures and monitor her, because she was in critical condition. We were still worry but we knew she was in good hands and all the staff were very comforting and loving. Izzy is back home now and she seems to be recovering and getting better. Thanks to Dr. G and his team!! As an addition, Dr. G uncovered underlying heart condition that need to be treated, because of his thorough diagnosis. (My dog is a 12 years old Pomeranian) Please be very careful with chocolate but when your dog accidentally ingested chocolate and you are unsure if your dog is going to be ok, I would recommend to take them to the Vet soon as you can, rather than wait. If you are looking for a veterinarian, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. G and his excellent team. Truly the best! I'm sorry to have to write this but beware this vet is just trying to invent a big bill at your pets expense. brought my sick cat who wasn't eating as I brought him here a few times. vet wanted to run some very expensive blood tests so I did a few and did some antibiotic shots that didn't work. cat continued to not eat. they wanted to hook up to iv for 500.00 a day. torture my cat then put him down? I said no way theyvrefused to euthanize so had to bring him to VEG. veg was so awesome and caring. Also my friend brought her male to get a simple neuter and this vet castrated the poor kitten. made him wear a cone for 3 weeks with pain pills and antibiotics. charged them a fortune. all he needed to do was a simple snip and 24 hours cat could have been healed. any spay neuter clinic charges 100.00 for simple procedure no surgery. they got ripped off and made that kitten go thru a lot of pain and suffering buyer beware! read more

The front office/vet tech staff were incredibly nice & very welcoming. Eric (vet tech) was great with my new tiny kitten & very nice with all my questions. Given that I had just saved this tiny kitten a few days earlier & this was his first appointment, I was expecting more from the Dr than just a 60 second lookover and then a long list on an invoice of things he "needed". I understand I could have declined services & should have been more adamant about saying "no" - that's on me. But for an initial vet appointment costing $400 pre-vaccines/neuter, I was expecting more than just a couple minutes with the vet dr & a long invoice of things he mostly didn't need. The office was not busy or overwhelmed, there was no reason for the rush. I'm not a new pet owner, I've had many cats in the past. But Bishop Ranch has always made sure that I was set up for success when I brought in or saved a new animal. More than just a 60 second overview and then an invoice for the vet tech to try and explain. Great vet tech staff & I would consider again..but I was expecting more for $400. read more

After having a terrible experience at the VCA Veterinarian Hospital in San Leandro where I waited for 5 hours without ever seeing a doctor, I left the facility with my sick cat and went to San Ramon VEG and immediately saw a doctor within 5 minutes of walking in. They were so professional and caring. Such wonderful treatment. Assessed my cat with a respiratory illness, prescribed antibiotics and within 45 minutes of arriving, I was on my way home.
