Animal they said needed to be put down and did put down because was 'too crazy' and 'had a cut on its face'. Cut is minor and cat is chill.

Super disappointed in this place. I brought a cat found nearby in traffic here to be taken care of. I was lied to a number of times by them. Told me they would call the shelter and take care of the cat. Come to find out they put it down within 24 hrs of having possession of the cat. I called a few times on the following few days to confirm the cat was at the shelter, and they told me yes it was for sure taken to the shelter. Blatantly lying to me they said 'yes it is at the shelter sir', because they thought I wouldn't follow up. Disgusting treatment of an animal. Lied to me saying its face was cut up and was badly injured and was a crazy cat that could not be handled. Look how 'bad' the face was cut and how 'crazy' this cat was. Shame on them.

Old client with new puppy, "Paisley" spayed last week. Everyone at Tassajara Vet is nice. The Dr.Johnson was very friendly. 6 days to go until stitches come out. So far so good trying to keep her quiet

I have a giant house rabbit named Clarence, who needs to be seen by a vet with bunny experience: number one, because he's a bun, and number two, because exotics have different needs than your typical cat or dog. My bun has a chronic eye problem that my fave, close-to-home vet, had previously diagnosed as untreatable, but I wanted a second opinion, (since you have to be your own advocate with medical stuff in life, but he has no voice.... except, of course, when he sings me the song of his people, in the middle of the night, by stomping his gigantic bun feet on the wood floor). I hear you bun. I hear you. Anyhow, Dr. Dowd was outstanding and she/her team did an exceptional job cleaning his exceptionally dirty ears. I think he's really too big to get his own feet into his ear and do it himself, and I do my best but it freaks me out getting out giant chunks of bunny ear wax. My last vet ear cleaning was so much money I'm embarrassed I didn't ask if they accidentally added a zero at the end of the bill - since that ear cleaning by itself was more expensive the my initial exam AND ear cleaning at Tassajara, they are my new go-to. Dr. Dowd spoke on the phone with us before returning Mr. Rabbit and she wasn't rushed with her explanations, or condescending about his diet/exercise regime. She explained some typical causes of eye issues with buns, but said my baby doesn't have impacted teeth or any other obvious condition that would cause his watery eyes (confirmed: untreatable). It's just something I have to help him with, as I have been. I wash his face daily, which neither of us love. She recommended that he eat less dry cat food, and confirmed he's just really fat and it's not a giant tumor growing around his whole body. Which was both good and bad news at the same time. We loved her and the front office staff and we'll be back for follow-up visits with the bun, even though the cat will remain at our home vet in Concord, since we love them too.

My dog was injured here and we had to pay, my poor dog is suffering. I am extremely disappointed in their lack of ethical practice.

Dr. Dowd is a very knowledgeable and caring veterinarian. I appreciate her caring nature and she always follows up when she says she will.

Dowd helped my family make the difficult decision that "she had given all the love she had to give" and it was time.

I honestly dont know where to begin, but if i could give them 10 stars i would!…read more Brought my dog in today because she was in labor and her first puppy got stuck. As soon as i walked in they got my dog assessed and immediately started helping her get the puppy out. Unfortunately that puppy did not make it but they helped us as fast as they could. Then we discussed further treatment to get the other puppy out safely, she was quickly taken back for xrays to determine placement of puppy #2. Almost immediately after bringing her back out puppy #2 popped out. They immediately started attending to the puppy and helped out of its sack and getting him to nurse on mom. I would also like to add that during this whole emergency my two young children were with me and they were given snacks and tended to while i stood by my dog. This was more than i could have even asked for. The entire staff was friendly, informative, compassionate and helped in any was they could. And after all that i was charged a meer $300 and some change. I was terrified i was going to be facing a $6000+ bill and not once during the process did they demand payment, only asking me to approve one estimate which i didnt even end up paying the whole estimate. If we ever have another pet emergency this will be our first stop. And i just want to thank all the staff again for being absolutely amazing to our family and our fur baby!!!

This is the worst vet emergency hospital and I never leave bad reviews…read more Rather than trying to fix, diagnose, or treat your animal to health, they propose euthanasia as the easiest option. This is my second experience where first they wanted to put down my 1 year old kitty who was having urinary problems. I kept asking why they weren't starting him on antibiotics? I asked why are they compounding with stronger pain meds? Obviously his condition is getting worse if you're only treating the symptoms and not the cause. It was almost like they were setting him up for failure (death). They didn't care or listen when I told them I was a Pharmacist and had better recommendations on medication choices. I kept taking him every other day as his condition was worsening and they only kept adding stronger pain meds without identifying and treating the root of the problem. It made my parents sick to hear their suggestion of putting my cat down on the third visit. They didn't have the heart to even tell me that. So, my mom called all of her friends and found a "hero vet" who saved my cat's life. He actually DID start antibiotics and other meds to help with urinary flow and some pain meds to keep him comfortable. He also recommended a wet urinary diet and Calm Probiotics to be mixed in his wet food. We kept him on the meds for a month and he continues to eat his urinary diet. My baby is a healthy 4 year old now. I can't stand the horrific practices at VEG San Ramon. And now just the other day, they put down my friend's cat who was only 6 years old. Again, they couldn't diagnose or identify the problem so they suggested euthanasia. I feel there's a huge conflict of interest in their treatment of our sick pets and their push to get mildly sick pets euthanized and then cremated. This is sadly a scam business. I was so happy when they first opened because I felt a sense of relief having a 24/7 emergency vet nearby. Little did I know their ruthless practices would bring so much pain to pets and their parents. Please don't trust them with the health and wellbeing of your fur babies.
